    I saw you were looking for a 2.5l to mock up a kit. I've a 95 YJ and a 97 TJ in Texas if you're interested. I'm not sure where you're located though.

    How to increase the boost say from 8 to 12 or 15 psi?
    Can you do it by just adjusting the WG rod or it require additional spring?

    • @S4ndSt0rmVideo
      @S4ndSt0rmVideo Před 2 lety +1

      The way you do this is by adding a bleed valve, which is basically a controlled leak in the feedback the wastegate is getting. Say you have an 8 psi wastegate and you want 12 psi of boost. You introduce a bleed valve into the hose that goes to the wastegate and leak 4 psi of pressure with it. The wastegate still opens when it gets 8 psi, but there actually is 12 psi of pressure in the intake.

  • @nagrain
    @nagrain Před 3 lety

    How about just extending the rod to make it longer?

    • @amjedahmed8509
      @amjedahmed8509 Před 3 lety +1

      You can do that but avoid not to keep the valve opened slightly by extending too much.

    Hey guys, I have the next question ! My turbo spools around 1800rpm full boost around 2500rpm, but start to lost psi after, 4.400rpm ? How can I make turbo spools after 3k rpm? Cause I’m loosing all the power after 4500rpm.. thank you ! Greetings from Costa Rica 🇨🇷

      Might have to look at a bigger A/R on the turbine side. This does however change the full boost range to higher in the RPM. Just have a little look at what changes with smaller and larger A/R's. I hope this helps

    to lower the boost decrease the preload on the internal springs by shortening the rod?

    • @agelast9831
      @agelast9831 Před 2 lety +1

      shortening the rod will create more pressure on the spring making the gate harder to open, shortening the rod will increase the amount of boost needed to open the wastegate. There is no way to make the gate open at less boost than it was made for, unless you do something like this in the video.

      @@agelast9831 The spring trick, to lower the effective tension of the spring. Good to know.

  • @111soreal
    @111soreal Před 3 lety +2

    Correct me if I’m wrong. The spring you put in place. Makes it open earlier

    • @amjedahmed8509
      @amjedahmed8509 Před 3 lety

      Yes the guy is aiming to lower his boost level

    • @nickpetrillo8300
      @nickpetrillo8300 Před 2 lety

      How though? The spring never affects the exhaust pressure. So unless the preload spring is 7psi the exhaust won't open sooner than 7psi.

  • @nickpetrillo8300
    @nickpetrillo8300 Před 2 lety

    The waste gate only triggers at 7psi. So how does preloading the spring change anything? 4psi of exhaust plus the spring doesn't mean 8psi. Your exhaust still has to hit 7psi on its own. The spring is just sqeezed more. I think a weaker spring would be the only simple solution

    • @zackfab8847
      @zackfab8847  Před 2 lety +2

      Try and watch the explanation. Its explained pretty well. Pressure = Force/ Area. Reduce the Force needed to open the gate (aka add the spring) = less psi needed to open the gate..
