      So the Radar officer will determine the time interval. In his example the 1st range and bearing was at 06:40 the second was 12min later at 06:52. So he decided to use 12 min intervals. Main thing to remember is to keep the intervals the same i.e. 3 mins 6 mins 12mins or whatever time you decide.

      So aspect will be red(port) Green Starboard (side nav light arcs), this will help us to decide what action we need to take and look for action the other vessels will need to take and if no action by other vessel, we will need to adhere to Rules 2, 5, 6, 8, 19 and more of the colregs. But you always need to adhere to Rule 2 at least.... So it helps with collision avoidance decision.
