The "What If" Fantasy scene between Morse and Joan at the wedding reception sums up his true feelings for her and was touching. From the "Inspector Morse" series with John Thaw we already knew that they would not have married. "Endeavour" was a phenomenal success and a Masterpiece!
I saw the series finale on Sunday night and I'm still thinking about it, three days later. I even started re-watching Endeavour from the pilot onward.
I rewatched last week. I am so sad it is over❤😢
same, I'm still thinking about the series finale and I'm still so sad about it ending. Such an amazing show, sad to see it go
I've watched Endeavour 3 times, twice this year. It seems to get better with each watching.
Endeavour.
Just as everything has a beginning and an end.
All that remains is to say "Thank you for the opportunity to experience you".
Love this series and all the actors, I will miss it terribly...
Simply put, this was a brilliant series. Every aspect (writing, acting, directing, the beauty of Oxford….). As Americans, we were unfamiliar with the Inspector Morse series. We are grateful for this marvelous introduction.
One of my absolute favorites! So sad to see it come to a close but I'm sure the actors want to pursue other opportunities; top notch cast, filming and music (sigh....will miss Endeavaor)

It would have been great if Morse had ended up marrying Joan. Sadly that was not the case. Will miss this show terribly. Wish all the actors success in their future endeavors. ❤

maybe shaun evans and sara vickers could play a couple in another project seperate from endeavour granted it might be as good but it would be close enough to seeing morse and joan as an item
i can imagine sean rigby playing meatloaf in a biopic film on meatloafs life and career or even scotty in star trek strange new worlds

Joan and Morse, sad and whenever there is a chance for them, something comes up ,and they always never get that moment . Missing Morse, and the gang . I am re.watching the last series again.🎉

Fantastic . I'd like to see a series made about the young Inspector Bright. So many hints to his past in the Endeavour stories.
Joanie looks beautiful. Since Morse is single . . . I'm available and love traveling back in time.

In nine years, Morse and Joan have never done anything significant together to get to know each other. So they have no way of knowing whether a viable, lasting relationship would have been possible. In any case, from my point of view, a woman like Joan (nice, pretty, extroverted, superficial, dominant) would not have been a suitable partner for the intelligent, sensitive, introverted Morse. In any case, she would not have been able to free him from his extreme inner loneliness.
Well written, I completely agree! I honestly don't think they would be a good match despite the chemistry that they have.
I disagree. Joan would’ve given Morse the push he needed to overcome some of that loneliness.

i'll have to disagree with you a bit on that introverts do marry extroverts they seem unlikely at first but opposites do attract the writers could have and should of made more of an effort with morse and joan by giving them a try as a couple or write an alternate universe episode showing morse marrying joan it sounds like a stretch i know but parallel episodes in tv shows and films have been done before
@@peterburke3944 Morse and Joan giving it a try as a couple even if it ends in tragedy is something I wish the show would have explored instead of the love triangle with Jim Strange.
Great skill from those who subsumed their normal accents. An excellent programme but unfortunately all good things end eventually.

all that will they wont they crap didnt help either and that bloody dream sequence to me felt like a cheap shot i'm surprised they didnt use that in earlier episodes
the wedding was beautiful but im still not 100% bought by strange and joan together. i always saw them more as buddies, almost brother and sister. Plus it seems even more painful that it's to be morse's best friend marrying the love of morse's life. russell lewis really punched us in the guts with that one. 💔
oh god yes i so agree with you on that ive almost thought strange and joan were more convincing as mates and also brother and sister as a couple no fucking way. i think russell lewis needs his head seen to and all that will they wont they shit didnt help either

i think they should have made this wedding morse's sister joyce's wedding instead of joan and jim coz i feel the show should have done a storyline on joyce marrying
dunno why but i used to picture joan's future husband being played by either james norton, tom hiddleston, dan stevens or rene jean page. dont ask me why its what i just used to imagine in the early days of the show. having said that it would probably be more interesting and little more easier to swallow than joan marrying strange
MASTERPIECE AND MASTERCLASS. LOVE THIS SERIE, INCREDIBLE, EXTRAORDINARY CAST, PRODUCTION AND DIRECTION.
A few of them have accents different from theirs in the series.

I'm sorry, but I refuse to accept that the brilliant young Inspector Morse from the Endeavour series ended up becoming the pathetic Inspector Morse, in his fifties, obsessed with crossword puzzles, drinking beer and begging for the love of the women he meets in the cases he investigates. I hope that, in a few years, someone decide to produce a new series, halfway between Endeavour and Inspector Morse, where we can see a new Endeavour a little more mature, but still young and bright. And although they can create new characters, in that new series there must also be present the character of Joan Thursday. And for Joan to have an extramarital affair with Morse. They owe it to me and to the thousands of fans who have followed this magnificent series.

Little does Joan know that in 30 years time her husband is going to cheat on her with a woman that is murdered. Morse will be suspected of sleeping with her until Strange comes clean to Lewis. Oh, what a tangled web we weave. Love Morse, Endeavour and Lewis in that order.
i reckon joan probably died by the hands of those bikers or divorced strange when she found out the real reason they were moving to kidlington
