    The scenario that concerns me with the SLT type tabs is when about to cross a wake from tug or shrimp boat you throttle down some which causes tabs to go down and you have sudden speed loss and tabs cause bow to bury deep into wave and swamps the boat or the sudden speed loss with bow throwing downward will cause people to be thrown forward and get hurt. Your thoughts? I realize your type hull may not have big bow movement to begin with but what do you think?

      zash hello and thanks for the comment. These boats do really well, not sure what kind of wake a shrimp boat puts off but i have had it in some rough water, nvr had the bow feel like it was going to dive on me. They actually help keep everything stable. Hope this helps!!

      Garry Oosthuizen hello and thanks! The straps still work just as they did before. Zero issues, they touch by a hair but no pressure on tabs or anything, you can keep your straps on the boat and then test fit them so you have an idea also. I bought a brand new 2017 Release 180 with a Yamaha F115XB. It came with an aluminum 13.5x16p 3 blade. Got about 40mph@5400rpm.
    I needed to lower bow when I had 200lb more people onboard. Prop shop sold me 4 blade
    PowerTech RED4R14PYM that lowered bow too hard and only got 34mph@6000rpm.
    My buddy sold me his used PowerTech SCD4R18PYM and I got 41mph@5400 with the extra person and fully loaded. I still need to maintain plane at slower speed and considering Bennet SLT10's but really don't want to lose top speed...

    Silicone will almost guarantee leaks or ror when used below the water line. You should remove, clean and reinstall with 3M 5200 or similar. What were the final results? How much faster to get on plane and how much faster top end?

      Dan Wood never had a single leak or crack or any kind of damage. Sure yes there are a million opinions and types as with anything. Appreciate the comment though! The main purpose of these on this boat is to remove the porpoising at full speed, and they worked amazing! Not mint for a speed gain, kept the nose down also at slower speeds!

    I’m torn between the e16, Bayliner 160, and scarab 165. Biggest concern is the e16’s performance. Did you look at the 160’s or scarab 165? Reason for choosing the e16? How does it handle chop? People say the m hull is a flat bottom and not great in chop...

    • @midwestbuilds
      @midwestbuilds  Před 5 lety +1

      Trammell Stewart personally i would still choose the E16 or E18 all day long. I did look at both, the scarab is super small..made for small lakes, i have been on many small jet boats and im a fan for a couple friends and a lot of fun, but for a family i would stay clear personally. I have seen a couple 160’s and to me they are to tiny, u get a windshield and similar engines but the hull really isnt that deep so chop will still be rough. The element has the most interior room and is by far the most stable due to the M hull. It is true they dont like a lot of chop but it isnt that bad truly. I have had many boats and skis and this is by far my favorite!

Some other people around the world have water getting into the sponsons, i was going to install them to make a video but i havnt been in a rush to do so. Porpoising is just something they all do, no sure why. Im assuming this is why they limit the hp of the outboard? Trim tabs fixed so im happy. I have tubed with ski arch, yes people dont advise it, i still made a video just to try it out. The rear hooks on back are plenty strong to tow with, i plan to purchase a outboard tow harness. We do not tube much, mainly wakeboard but will have that option and will make videos this summer. I have not seen any other element tow anything without the ski arch.
