"Here's a clip with a classic punchline. How shall we edit it?" "Zoom out just before the punchline to destroy the moment?" "Brilliant idea!"
Ya got your joke though stfu 🤣
I was thinking the very same thing, but the BritBox vids have a knack of doing that. I think the magic word to describe them is "clueless".
Exactly
“You dipstick, BritBox. NOW look what you’ve done!”
Total dipstick
Del Boy’s reaction is real life.
His laugh at that line is 100% genuine
That's because "what you got?.. A Wendy house" was NOT in the script. That line was just something Leonard Pierce (grandad) came up with on the spot.
@@Kickback-dm7zt Brilliant !
100% genuine!
@@Kickback-dm7zt Thats not true at all.
😂
Grandad’s timing was pure genius.
This for me is the best comedy ever.
Thank you John Sullivan.
"You can have double egg and chips next week" 😂
“ your breakfast is cold Del Boy “
Love egg and chips 🍟
Its been such a long time since I had them over 15 years
Grandad Trotter: "Ya breakfast's ready, Rodney".

Why
Grandad nails it right at the end!
Chris Smith
David Jason once said that it used to amaze him that he and Nicholas Lyndhurst put all the hard work into each episode and Lennard Pearce (Grandad) would steal the entire show with one killer line 😂😂😂
"Del, you think we could put these in the back of your van?"
"Put them in?! I just took them out!" 😂😂😂
I love when characters laugh at their own jokes. This is one of my favourites
Best British comedy of all time

God bless you Lennard Pearce. I adored Grandad, and loved seeing him. Whenever I watch the episode when it's his funeral, I get a bit emotional, as he was such a sweetheart was Grandad.
Such a classic scene. I wish we could've gotten at least 5 series with Grandad. No disrespect to Uncle Albert though who was a great replacement.
I want them to release the original footage Granddad filmed for Hole in One. Yes it was unfinished but the fans would still like to see it.
@Dead They might not be able to if the family requested that they never released it. Out of respect, they wouldn't go against their wishes. That's just a guess of course but that type of thing has occurred in other similar situations.
Lennsrd Pearce and Buster Merryfield did meet once. They were working on a BBC children's programme. Buster played a chauffeur and drove up to the security gate and Lennsrd the security guard let the barrier up! I don't know what programme it was though!
@@lwaves as far as I know no such request was made. Also his family wouldn't have a say as he was contracted by the BBC so the footage belongs to them. I don't see how releasing his final recorded appearance is "disrespectful". He wanted it out that's why he was filming it.

Cant figure out the 14 thumbs down. Most of the modern day comedies we be long forgotten but the likes of Only fools and horses will live on forever.

Some sad sap probably got offended by something.
The thing I loved about Only Fools was when someone in the "world" makes a joke, the characters laugh at it. I can't think of any other sitcom that does that. When Chandler makes an actual wisecrack on FRIENDS he mostly gets cold stares.
Good point tho you should watch the royal family. They are always laughing at each others jokes in that!!
@@donnn-ow4rj Yes. Love Royal Family. I think the reason I didn't consider it was it always felt real, not really like a sitcom, like The Office.
@@nextwednesday the first 3 series felt real I agree. Some of the later xmas special episodes had more of a sitcom feel to them.
@@donnn-ow4rj There was only two series of The Office, and a two part Christmas Special, and the David Brent movie.

Love how Del slaps Grandad with the newspaper 😀😀😀
Love this scene when Rodney says that him and Mickey Pearce are going into the self- catering holiday trade on 200 “nicker.” Then grandad goes what you got a “Wendy house.” Just brilliant!!

Honestly, that line is an absolute corker! God bless Lennie Pearce. Best ad lib in telly history. Hands down
Scripted.
I totally agree with you about that 😊
i think leonard said that unscripted hence david jasons reaction haha love this
No it was in the script. David Jason just wasn't expecting the reaction the line would get.
I may be 24 but used to love watching Only Fools and horses on a Sunday afternoon. Legends.
This has got to be one of the most hilarious lines in comedy ever.. and one of my favourites. I never tire of falling over laughing when grandad says that.
I don’t understand why people are arguing it was a fantastic line delivered with exquisite timing by an old master ..
'You can have double Egg & Chips next week' should be the line that every good parent uses to their child who asks 'what's for tea' when they haven't yet paid their board for the week, but try and eat you out of house and home. Valuable lessons in life. If you can't afford it, you can't have it 🤣👍❤️😊

Grandad's finest moment.
love it. grew up on a council estate in ladbroke grove, london during the 80's and 90's. will always be my fav comedy.
What u got a Wendy house? Nailed it
Apparently the Wendy House line was supposed to be an out take. Absolutely hilarious. I am glad it was left in. In fact some actors are urged to ad lib if they believe it is an improvement on the script as this line obviously was.. Sir David truly cracks up laughing at it by the look of things.
100% scripted. The audience just laughed too long making the actors miss their cues
Savage!!!! One of my absolute favourites.
Thanks for putting these on You tube love them
I cried at Grandad's funeral. But I loved to see what happened with the hat. I love britbox.

Only fools and horses will live forever
Rodney was a combination of Neil and Jay from the inbetweeners.
Except they came 30 years later. One of the many strengths of OFAH was the depth of the characters, particularly Del and Rodney. I don't think Rodnery bullshitted as much as Jay, who took it to another level.

Just one of the best delivered lines in the entire show. Grandad maybe wasn't a physically funny character as much as Albert was. But he was dry and quick.

Love Grandad
From that point onwards, the scripts use to have a ‘Wendy’ next to jokes they thought would bring the house down like that. It was also a tribute to grandad.
Best British Comedy Ever. Dels laugh makes me laugh
Love them xxxxxxxxxxx
The Wendy House line was adlibbed and Sir David's reaction to it was genuine. The 2nd clip when he and Lennard were both laughing was probably edited due to the prolonged laughter them and the audience. In The Miracle Of Peckham Buster Merryfield's reaction to his kipper was genuine after Nicholas Lyndhurst put aftershave on it without telling him.
In the ofah book it says that that line was used as a measuring line and In the future from that line if they had a line that they thought would "bring the house down " the cast would say "look out looks like a wendy or ;wendy alert " as a way of saying we got a great line coming out, and it all came from that moment, isn't that amazing? Lennard Pearce was never forgotten about in their future (,David john, nicholas)cos of that moment
@@pumpkineater69seven17 Lennard Pearce always stole the show with just one line.
There's a lot of debate over whether or not the Wendy House line was adlibbed. Lennard Pearce's delivery was excellent and I wouldn't be surprised if David Jason "corpsed" as a result. Some very good acting took place in this scene; note how Del and Grandad looked concerned when Rodney told them Micky Pearce was holding the money.
No, it wasn't ad-libbed at all. It was 100% in the script.
2:49
What you got a Wendy house 😃 😀 😄 😁 🤣 😂
Lovely jubbly
That's LUBBLY jubbly, otherwise it makes no sense. It was always pronounced as such, up here, where it was invented, in the North-West.
Now he's got a Cassandra house.
2:49 😂
BRILLIANT
LEGEND❤❤❤
I dont think Rodney would buy the sun these days...
Best ever!
They had to stop filming after Lennard Pearce made the crack about Rodney having a wendy house because the audience were in absolute hysterical fits of laughter !
Del-Boy: I've got to admire your bottle Rodney, you've been in the business 5-minutes and you've already opened up a Spanish branch ! 😂
Apparently grandad improvised that joke
This is perfect for lock down
I remember the actor who played Micky pierce said after that episode any good laughs in the scripts they'd call them Wendys ...oh yeah weve got a few Wendy's. The actor i think actually did live in Peckham cos my dad's family did used to see him down at this members pub called the hatchem which has packed up a good few years back.
My favourite episode
Grandad didn't say too much but he always brought the wendy house down with the biggest laughs.
Watch the interaction between Del and Grandad when they hear that Rodney's been stitched up.
