This mask isn't made for deep diving or diving at all. it's mostly made for snorkeling *like cruising on top of the water* i have it for 2 days now and its great but it's NOT for deep diving. i only use this mask to see whats up on the ocean floor. But still, be careful what ya do and always have someone with ya
I hope everyone can be aware of this.
Nik, can you swim with it. I mean freestyle swimming. Thanks.
@@VictorRamirezCostaRica you can, but you can't dive lile 2 meters underwater
If you do freestyle swimming with 3/4 (75%) your capacity on the surface of the water with this mask on, you cannot finish 3/4 swimming pool without stopping and taking off the mask to get Oxygen from the air.

I had a mask and snorkel combo about 60 years ago. It was a birthday gift while we were staying at Cap Estelle on the Med, near Nice. It has the exact same mechinism, for the snorkel, so when you went under at ping pong ball stopped the water from comming in. It was great.
Are you sure it was 60 years ago?
@@terbesta3122 I'm thinking the same thing. This guy might be an old guy who got modern equipment or just cappin
@@Lukxvsp I think what he meant was 6 years ago
It was 60 years ago my elder brother had one. I’m sure they were taken off the market for safety reasons. I remember trying it on, it stank of rubber 😂
It’s nice to see a non sponsored honest review from a professional swimmer. Thanks !
You no what? You have just put out the most sensible video on these masks... well done!
I have been using this mask for last couple of years and I am still alive. At times I’ve been in the water for hours, exploring marine life along the coastline, no co2 poisoning and no passing out. The only thing I could ask for is the rubber nose for eaqualizing.
For you but me I almost died of it
Did you just stay close to the top of water or did you go deep?
@@udontoweme5127 how, what went wrong?
@@garryclarke3808 they are probably dead now.
@@udontoweme5127i have been using these ever since i was a kid and i havent had any issues at all
I got this mask 2 years ago. It's still in brand new quality and it works absolutely fine. That's it. No more to tell.
So you've never used it
@@bourky93 I did use it. Pretty often too. Quality is still good and no problems
@@paladin_plunder9906 ... Then it's not brand new quality....
I got a full face snorkel mask that you can freedive with thanks to a sealed rubber pocket around the nose. Its from Body Glove. Besides that and the Sea O2, which, like the Body Glove full face mask, has a sealed rubber pocket around the nose to allow for head equalization when diving, most other full face snorkel masks, including the Triboroid that started it all back in like 2014, are designed only for the surface and just a few feet deep, just like swimming goggles and so you can't equalize the preassure in your head when diving with most of these other full face masks.
Had one, lost the snorkel on the first day of use. Still like the two part ones more. Also, even the smallest mask did not make a seal around my nose so the upper part gets fogged up all the time.
I found this absolutely useful thank you for making this video I was very hesitant to buy this before this video thank you

Used only once just for
5 Mintues & put my Regular Mask on and used the old style for the vacation
For its hard to breathe with a full face mask for some reason
Who snorkals without diving down? It's the best parttt
True
Gabriel Acosta u can hold ur breath and there will be no water in the mask
It's hard to swim down

This one so cool, the shark looks, kids love it
czcams.com/video/rNg6eb0ym4I/video.html
thanks for the review really helped
I found it hard to dive down because it is full of air it's like a float
How do people surface from the water and their hair looks so neat and slick? I always look like my hair is eating up my face
You have to tilt your head up before your reach the surface
I experienced the issue with this type mask. Last year in Hawaii, casually snorkeling around a reef. I realized that it was getting harder and harder to breathe. As I realized what was happening, I rolled over to do a back float and I pulled the mask off. I was gasping for breath. It took me a minute to get back to normal. It was a very weird experience. There was no water in the mask but it felt like I had very, very little oxygen but instead was just rebreathing CO2. It was the strangest situation as the top of the snorkel was never underwater but it might as well have been while I tried to get fresh air.
I think you need to fix the two hole thing in the mask
@@mrgenius7426
I think so too
Because there is a possibility that the sea salt has closed the two holes.
Happened here too.love the mask but need to be careful. I would not recommend for new swimmers.
My husband and I bought these masks and within 30 mins I felt that my lungs were going to burst!! Then my husband felt the same way. As an engineering expert my husband came home and did some research regarding these full face masks. He felt it was the design and the way they were manufactured. The masks ended up in the trash can!!! Four weeks ago while on a cruise we witnessed a little boy struggling in the water. He was helped back onto the boat. He told his father that he couldn’t breath through the mask and that he felt strange. His dad told him to put the mask back on. We had to intervene and explained to his dad about the reports on these masks! I will speak up even if people don’t like it!!!
@@lynnecoles7276 : buy a proper full face mask. Aria ocean reef and Ninja Mask for example. but they're not cheap..
Thanks for saving me the hassle of purchasing then finding out I can't free dive after.
You mean you can't freedive with the mask on.
That's the problem, if you like freediving, you saved money.
I just bought one. As a starter mask. I used the traditional masks for my very time and I was having a lot of issues breathing took me a while to get use to it. I'm going with the full mask but not planning to diving down far just below the surface till I get better at this. Do you think that would be good to learn with???
Great video i subscribed and i really like your breath holding skills (edit) thank you for the heart
Thanks :)
Got 2 of these. I love it.
They are great for ameatur snorkelers. I don't know many amateurs who would go snorkelling for more than 30 mins at a time! I took mine to the Maldives and its was great.
There are actually a lot of amateurs who would go for more than an hour. It depends on physical condition
Hurlanator you need to get out more chap!
Is there a full free dive mask you recommend?
There's no such mask as a full freedive mask.
I dont like those because you cant equalize
They are not made for diving down
It's made for snorkeling not for diving though. :)
Eunice Grace I know but I like to dive when im snorkeling
You should still be able to equalize, just use a different method than the valsalva maneuver. I doubt you could go down very far with that mask though.
Christian Wedoy That's why I mostly stick to the traditional mask and snorkel. I won't mind a full face mask at all if its good quality and I use it for surface snorkeling.
Can it also be good protection against COVID-19?
One thing I also discovered when using one of these is that you can’t tilt your head back to look up and breathe! (Should be obvious I know)
I was in the sea and had entered the water off of a boat (just dropped in) When I came to exit the water, every time I tilted my head back to look up at people in the boat and find the steps, the mask suddenly would get sucked to my face. I did panic a little at first but soon realised it was because the little ball rolls to the end of the breather tube and seals it off. (This was with my head and the breather tube out of the water by the way) Very disconcerting if you’re not expecting it. Great masks though.
Actually that's not strictly accurate. With the old goggle and breather tube type of snorkeling kit you could just push the tube out of your mouth and breath normally if it was the type with a ball seal or just breathe normally if not. I'm obviously not talking about when you're actually floating in the water here but when exiting the water on a high sided boat.Once I got used to that effect it wasn't an issue and I found the mask ok although I must admit like you I actually prefer the old type (with no ball seal). Thank you for the reply though.
Just a thought: do you think that it is possible that death due to this mask could be due to the ball not coming back in place ( the safety ball that prevents breathing when the mask is under water) and the person not being able to breath when back up, and the struggle to get the mask off to breathe could be the actual cause?
Just bought the new model with flexible nose piece to allow for pressure equalization. Can't wait to test it!
This is great advice, love it! I wish we had watched this before we started out!
Why am I watching these videos and there’s no sea where I live in 😂
Is there a _pool?_
Rebecca luis yeah
I have a pool

really nice video, what mask would you suggest for freediving? to be able te equilise pressure and to see wide
I have it too! Thanks for the review!
How could you say, “Breath normally.” I have one of these and I wondered why it was so hard to breath through, that’s why I came to this video.
I'm an experienced swimmer, I have a standard mask/snorkel and this full face mask from Tribord. I used this a lot of times: never got clogged/blurry, I never had headaches or felt dizzy. I really don't understand how I could get poisoned since I can breath normally. This mask is amazing and it is very clear to see, in rivers or sea. Maybe people bought cheap models with a different design or didn't adjust them properly and got in panic, really wanted to understand the real cause of those deaths using this kind of mask...
Vanessa Curcio you can't even equalise with this mask
The King Come on, this is for snorkel on the surface, not diving! I never used it for diving...this is the problem maybe, people use it incorrectly.
Vanessa Curcio many people who snorkel casually like to dive
The King for that, simply don't use this kind of mask! The brain has many uses, a pity that for some is used for natural selection...
Vanessa Curcio obviously but in this case there is no reason to use this mask over a regural one since it has less uses and it's less safe for some people
I just bought one, thank you for sharing I just Subscribed!
Enjoyed the whistle when he showed the flow if air!! Haha...nice!
95% Of people didn’t watch the video long enough to catch the part where there are check valves to provide a constant refreshing of air
Yes, but not enough to cancel our the amour of Co2 that builds up over time.
If someone would make a full face mask with a rubber piece at the nose so you could equalize, then that would be perfect!
Bought a full mask in philippines last year and i was blown away, its a revolution for snorkeling. The experience is surreal cause for the first time you see 100% underwater.

that is a gnarly pool you guys are getting to swim in..i love it!
Very helpfull information. Thank´s man. Thumbs up !
I snorkel with this kind of mask and I haven’t had any problems yet I don’t deep dive with it I snorkel only
Ok I have to ask. What pool is that? Or what company? Any pool that's near me (Colorado) goes no deeper than maybe 8 ft. This looks deeper than 8ft, though it might be an illusion.
Looks like pirbadet in Trondheim, Norway
Hello, this pool is 15 ft deep It Is a public pool In Trondheim
KediT its 15 ft
Christian Wedoy Dang. Wish a pool like that was over here!
Well the pool I use is at most 6 feet deep and its at my university. But its Olympic sized swimming pool. It also has a 16 foot deep diving well, but you have to be part of a certain team or have special permission to use it.
Thanks for this, great review
but they say CO2 gets stuck in the full face mask and many people recommend not to buy it, so not sure..what do you advise on that.
I have this mask too it's such amazing! Btw I liked this video thx for the advice
Nice. Its very comfortable
Christian Wedoy I have seen multiple videos saying these are very unsafe...
Nice review
Thanks
you are the second guy to mention that when you dive with it the mask puts pressure/vacuum on your face. Good information.
Would it work fine it I just held my breath and dove under water 1 meter or so?
I'm trying to hold my breath long none of the co2 tables or o2 tables are working.any advice
Are you being totally relaxed when you are doing the tables?
Slow and steady wins the race. Don‘t do tables too often, max 3 times a week. When you do you could deplete your iron levels in the blood. Then its even harder to hold your breath and you get the feeling that its not working. So my advice would be pause 1 week and then do tables every 3 days.
is it possible i can meat you in real life i feel that would help more
Yaqoob Mahmud what is your max breath hold , if it’s under 4 mins mostly just comes down to will Power imo.
progression is slow for breath holding
the 1st gains you get in 1st weeks is bc of learning proper technics
physiological adaptations are slow to learn
i did the O2 and CO2 tables, but later i changed to dynamic apnea, because i hit my limits
I'm stuck at 3~4min statics, and 1min dynamic (apnea walk and underwater swimming)
don't be frustrated, just change your focus on making gains on other things
like learning proper streamlining, DNF or DYN ...etc
I love this thing for free diving and everything, I took it to Hawaii and dove down to see turtles and reefs, I have no problems with it and I like it more than normal masks.
How do you freedive without equalizing?
@@manurindt3091 its skill learn how and you good to go
Very helpful video ! Thanks !
I wanted this video for so long
I like those because I’ve tried it
Don't putt that on and dive. cuz some day you might die
I've tried it and I don't like it because I've tried classical masks and snorkels.
God I love it when the people in the comments try to be experts yet have never even tested the mask themselves.
But it’s true lol
So if u free dive deep enough you will drown due to running out of the saved air already in the mask?
Could you not equalize by breathing through the nose to break the face seal?
I also reviewed this.. It s fine but not as good as it s described here.
Can we die if we don't train about scuba diving stuff
This is not scuba diving, It is for snorkeling
Yes its not scuba diving mask its for snorkeling
Also yes definitely
you can die either way with this mask just buy a normal snorkel
Is there such as a thing as: Using snorkel masks to learn swimming with NO need to worry about water?
I got one of those and they are just fine but only when your floating this maybe a diving mask but you can turn it into a gas mask
Bruh I was thinking it was like fish scales and I could continually breath underwater
literally exact same thought

2. i tried this mask but the way you said , it forces against your face , was seen clearly. i did not even go free diving.
got one cant wait to use it
I cant use the conventional mask snorkel due to gag reflex
These are life savers for me.
I don't dive under water just swim head in water on surface and its perfect for that
These masks are death traps.
I have been diving for more than 40 years.
Get a good separate mask and separate snorkel.

Kamikaze Yamamoto i bought this and swim with it for 2 weeks non stop nothing happend its save the only thing you have to do is not breath in under water but then you can freedive with it
i agree whit you Kamikaze Yamamoto. I have tried it and it was so0oo bad! I do not recomend, there can be many pepole that will die cuz nof this mask and i hope pepole will stop making that. ( sorry for my bad english :p)

are there free diving masks? like small face mounted air canisters?
Im soo happy because I JUST learned to swim!
I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to learn at around 3-5 years old.
i just gave you a sub btw thanks for teaching me all the underwater skills or i would drown and greetings from israel :3
Seeing all the comments here, now I'm hesitant to buy one. I was really thinking about getting one since whenever I go on vacation during snorkeling, I can never get the masks to fit right. No matter where. Water always gets into my face and it fogs up. If I make it smaller, then it hurts my head.
I've heard that some of these are not good because of the carbon dioxide build up. Is this a good mask to prevent this from happening?
Can you try h20 ninja mask
I love these masks. My whole family does. They are amazing.
But they cause deaths though
So does regular snorkeling. Water is dangerous in general.
Yuriy the Language Geek how does a regular mask cause death those full fade ones has a pretty high chance of death
The Co2 builds up and it becomes super dangerous. Regular snorkelers don't have the same build up.
Classical masks / snorkels do need some explainations and training. This kind of solution does too, danger is that marketing lets people think they do not need any training to use it (plus it adds risks classical solutions don't) while it is false.
People dying because they think a technical solution can make them avoid to compensate their incompetence by learning is some kind of positive natural selection though.
Since there is a shortage of medical mask. Wonder if you might alter it to make a mask to protect you from Covid 19
Hi I wanted to ask that when you first used that diving mask underwater for the first time you still had to breathe even thoug it was snorkeling underwater
I was in Spain snorkling last week. My step brother used the full face mask, problem is that it fogs up pretty quick.
This Mask does not fog up. It very much depend what kind of full face mask you use. This one Is made to not fog up, It Is also Important that you have a mask that fits your face.

Oh yeah yeah
Ercole Floyd hahah oh yeah yeah
Adrian Lona how the fuck did we reach here

I kept asking in the retail outlets if you could "Valsalva" with it but none of the sports shops knew what I was talking about ! So if you cannot valsalva then you cannot equalise the pressure in your eustachian tube and you can get a very bad headache if you leave the surface. The Valsalva maneuver or Valsalva manoeuvre is performed by moderately forceful attempted exhalation against a closed airway, usually done by closing one's mouth, pinching one's nose shut while pressing out as if blowing up a balloon. Only for very competent swimmers as trying to get off in a panic could add to any danger
What do you prefer? This snorkel or the regular snorkel: I like to take deep dives when I'm on vacation
Hello,
If you are going to swim deep this mask is not for you. This Is for snorkeling. You should use a regular scuba/freediving mask
Christian Wedoy thank you for replying
Hi there, I also have a similar full face mask. Although it is really comfortable and great for watching the bottom, It is a bit hard to dive as Christian has mentioned due to mask squeeze. Another issue is that there is too much air in the mask that the mask pulls your head up when you try diving. It is also visible in the video that one has to put extra effort into keeping their heads (and the mask) at the bottom when diving. So it is definitely not ideal for diving. When compared to regular snorkeling gear, it is more comfortable, allows better vision and nevertheless looks and feels cooler. However, I think it is a bit specific for only watching the sea life. You can use a regular snorkel for every activity you will do with this mask, but not the other way around with the mask. To sum up, if you already have a regular snorkel I think you might give this a try. Otherwise, I guess you should go for the regular one.
What if a bird comes and sit on the opening? Because some birds really are that brave
I might get one of these I have really bad gag reflex so I can’t use mouth pieces without gagging/throwing up
