Lemmy was one of the best people I've ever known. Intelligent, no ego, and once you got to know him you could see past the personna of the rock Icon. He was a big fan of WWll history, which in one aspect we shared. I was fortunate to work with Motorhead several times during tours, and one of my greatest memories was trying to keep up with him drinking. That was a hard prospect! R.I.P, Lemmy, you are gone but never forgotten...

Lemmy was a very intelligent man. He could talk for ages about history. A guy who was a lot more than a heavy rock singer. There was so much more to him. He lived his life how he wanted to, and took no bullshit from anyone.

Great comment I was lucky to meet and speak with him after a show at a topless bar I suggested one night drinking a little bourbon. He said it is nice to talk to someone who knows whats really going on. aaaaaaaaaaaaacomming from alemmymade me feel very good. I told him Motorhead is considered or lableed a hard rock or metal band with good reason but I am mostly a Gen X surf punk and think Motorhead has a good ZPunk sound as well with some of my favorite songs you do. He smiled and nodded yes. After I heard him say in an interview "If not for our long hair you may think we were a punk band. Then finding out he knew and played with WendyO Williams of zThe Plazmatics and knew and played with and does a song called Ramones why he liked the comment and said that I think. He was aGreat person! Motörhead was punk, metal but mainly ROCK N ROLL. He’s one of the main reasons why I’m listening to Elvis, chuck berry and 50’s rock n roll in general. He did affect every band from punks to metal heads, even greasers/rockabillies with his music. He and Slim Jim Phantom of the Stray Cats both formed the rock n roll band the Head Cat together. RIP Lemmy, Phil, and Eddie. Hail the classic Motörhead line up! The REAL MOTÖRHEAD!!

It's not always like that when journos ask seemingly stupid question, sometimes the reason is because there's a lot of uninformed people out there who would buy into the negative stereotypes, by asking questions that seem stupid or negative to those that know, it prompts and gives a chance to the interviewee to address those issues and inform the uninformed.

But even with their relentless schedule they put everything into every show. Lemmy had such immense presence on stage, you could feel how much he loved performing. It always took about 3 days after seeing them for my ears to stop ringing. It's a sad loss but he lived his life to the fullest.

Typical metal show back in my youth.the early 1970's....opening band has short set, main band comes on does the fast song, the slow song, the hit song, ballad about being on the road missing your baby followed by solo's of the greatest in the world guitarist, drummer bassist.
And every concert the same thing, by the mid 70's it was beyond a joke. Its no wonder Punk became popular among many metal heads. Punk had the fury, creativeness and none of the cliche bullshit of metal. Still I missed the utter bombast of Metal.
    Then there's Motorhead
Motorhead stripped down to the basics, pure unadulterated Metal. Like a stripped down hot rod or pure white lightning whiskey. It was a winning basic formula. Many other Metal bands took up on this 'Speed Metal' at the time, few survived. They didn't have Lemmy.
Lemmy was a constant source of energy, a natural who could keep it going endlessly.
His music affected everyone who was in ear drum busting shot of it and created a legacy of bands who spread this cancer of pure rock to the mass's like a zombie invasion.

I can’t believe it’s almost been 8 years since the passing of Lemmy? My dad partied with Lemmy when he was part of the road crew for AC/DC years ago? My dad and a few other road crew members and Bon Scott himself ? Got invited to drink with Lemmy back in the 70’s right up until our house burnt in 2014 he had the beer can it was in a case like you put a baseball in? I forget what they are called honestly (the case they go in) it was on display behind the bar my mom had in the house i could never read Russian it was a Russian beer us kids were never allowed to touch the display case ? And we all grew up very fond of bands like Motörhead AC/DC Black Sabbath Dio pretty much you name it we heard it and there was 6 of us. I was just 18 when Lemmy passed he’s the reason I wanna be a bassist I don’t have a Rickenbacker but I do have a fender p bass it needs A LOT of work done to it. I can’t afford a Rickenbacker but one day I will but Fenders are good too not as good as Rickenbacker but it’ll help me get the “Bass-icks” of a bass down and learn some Motörhead and I also have my dads old guitar and the one he got me before he died in 2020. (Rock in peace dad with Bon Lemmy Tina Janis Malcolm and George Young and Ronnie James Dio and way too many to come and who have passed! Forever miss all of you!) my dad wanted to be a professional rock and metal guitarist now he will never get too? As his youngest child I’m taking it upon myself to pursue his dream along with my own 2 passions and live life like Lemmy and all the heroes I named the way they did to the fullest ! I will never forget when we all heard the news about Lemmy my mom was on duty she’s a cop she loves RNR and heavy metal ? Dad was at home with me and I saw it pop up on my phone. Ironically I was actually listening to Ace of spades. The minute I found out. It was actually playing on my Bluetooth speaker. And I remember walking in there in complete shock in the kitchen to tell my dad he was loading the dishwasher while he was cooking and I waited until after he got done loading the dishwasher to tell him. That Lemmy passed away. these last years haven’t been kind to our family. we lost our house where we are from in South Carolina, and my dad died in 2020.We are hoping to move to Florida once I reunite with my mother. She’s still in South Carolina. She’s living in a rental.

+matthew bailey I started listening to Motorhead when I was in high school. I'm only 24 now. Fortunately I still got to see them in concert twice here in Texas, when Lemmy was 64 and 65 years old. They were both excellent shows, unforgettable, and popped my concert cherry in the best way possible. But when I became a hardcore fan and looked at Lemmy's life, I said to myself, "There's no way Lemmy's going to live for much longer -- I'm amazed that he's lasted this long." I had to accept it because I knew it would come relatively soon, but I continued to enjoy them while they lasted.
Lemmy once said that it's silly folks respect other people more when they're dead, but frankly I'm glad that more people are recognizing Lemmy for his one-of-a-kind character and excellent music.

RIP Lemmy /IAN FRASER He was a good moral man. He was Punk too I mwt and spoke with him for about an hour. We talked about life and he spoke to me like a friend . It was great to hear someone like him nicknamed God say it was nice to talk to somebody who knows whats up. What is really going on. I to;ld Lemmy I understand Motorhead is labeled a Hard Rock or Metal Band for good reason. However I like it and am A Gen X So Cal Surf Punk. I think Motorhead has a good Punk sound or influence in some of my favorite songs you have. The good Punk you can understand the lyrics from. Not the thrash stuff you cant. He smiled and nodded yes hearing that. I heard him say in an interview I saw on YT after. If not for our long hair you might think we were a Punk Band. I also learned he knew The RAMONES and Wendio Williams of The PlasMATICS. and more. He is in the bettter place I believe It IS ALL ROCK AND ROLL!

too many these days sell an image of hard living rock n rollers and don't actually live the life, they're all millionaires sipping the latest gwyneth paltrow green smoothie, which is ok but be honest about it, you get the feeling it wasn't a career for lemmy, it was a lifestyle, he lived it!

    "Left Hawkwind (...)"
No, his was kicked out from the band.
BTW: amphetamine was legal at that time in Canada.
I suggest read "Motorhead. Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers" by Martin Popoff.
