      @@WorkForAvocados I was thinking Puerto Viejo. It looks like a sick place to retire and live the good life. Fantastic weather....Highs around 85, lows around 70 year round. I'm in my early 30's, been saving all my money, would love to retire by 40 and live very basic and frugally in Costa Rica. Kinda crazy to just pack up and move by yourself to another country, maybe someone will want to join one day. I'm just over being apart of the USA rat race man.

      We retired 4 months ago and are traveling for the next 5-7 years between Mexico and Argentina. We are currently living in Matagalpa, Nicaragua and will be here until late February.
      Next stops are all in Guatemala then Mexico, before heading south.
      We lived in Costa Rica a long time ago, but have no desire to go back. It’s ok, but costs make it a poor choice as far as bang-for-your-buck, in our opinion. So many better choices or choices just as good for way less money.

    Really enjoyed the video. I grew up in Dallas listening to The Ticket Sports Radio at work all the time. And one the veteran guys Norm would travel the world with his wife and he said that Nicaragua was one of his favorite places ever and the people are amazing. I've been super interested in doing something like this. Just not sure where to start.

    Awesome videos, quick question. Whats the season down there in playa San Diego?

    • @WorkForAvocados
      @WorkForAvocados  Před 3 lety

      Thanks salim! Rainy season brings the larger swells but they tend to be a little messier. I’d say prime Nica is dec-March. Towards the end it can be smaller but still super fun! Happy shredding my friend

    More on this subject please. 😊 I am also interested in land a bit back from the beach where the land will be a lot cheaper and the soil more suitable for growing fruits and other food. What style of simple non ac abode design are you seeing in El Salvador and Nica coastline region that is most effective for comfort from the heat and humidity? Thank you!

    • @WorkForAvocados
      @WorkForAvocados  Před rokem +1

      One style that I’ve seen that is popular is to do a very high ceilinged structure with a palapa (straw style) roof. They will do concrete for the bottom half and wood for the second half. One thing they take into account is earth quake give. It really comes down to the individual area and property. I wanted to do a container style house originally, but my property is 3 blocks from the beach and there is not much wind coming in through.

      @@WorkForAvocados Yeah, seems like being able to catch and utilize the breeze would be ideal for ventilation and possibly some electricity. I am excited to hear how this vision and project unfolds. Through your eyes, how do you experience the differences in your explorations of small town, coastal Nicaragua and El Salvador? Thank you for your insights.

    Hey, I'd like to purchase about 10-20 acres to bug out, grow a forest-garden, build a small off-grid home - not too far from city amenities; but far enough to enjoy the peace and quiet. Any suggestions of a good area? I was thinking north of the big lake and Capitol city, up in the mountains.
