Beautiful narration, I have read your articles which you wrote after visit to Saindak. I also know Col Rizwan, he is still young as he was back in 2007.
Thank you very much. You are right about Col Rizwan. I see him from time to tome here in Lahore.
Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day with a great Teacher! You are perhaps the only one in Pakistan who knows Pakistan more than anyone else! Stay Blessed Sir!
Thank you very much.

My Lord!
May i be listening your magical stories on my death bed. My soul will not go to heavens above but be wandering in such settings and remain in time traveling eternally. 😞
Thank you very much. May you live so long that I run out of stories.
in a novel THE WANDERING FALCON by Jamil Ahmad(a former civil officer), the Novel starts almost right in the same geographical setting. I translated its 6 out of 8 chapters into Urdu. In coming winters i will complete its translation.
NOW, by listening your real life accounts of the area i am feeling deeply enthralled.
Thank yo very much. I am very glad to know this is of help to you.

Very interesting Dastaane.
Thanks a lot.
Very interesting. You should have gone there while serving, you might have made it to the actual boundary post. And it was quite surprising to know that Col. Dyer had served there and didn't mess around, especially with the Baluch. Such a bigot could stay out of mischief is unthinkable. But anyways, your storytelling is as always, very beautiful and entertaining.
I served only six years and five months. In all this time I was never seconded to the militia.
Salman sir, a query - in such remote areas like Rabat, what was the source of water? How can a sarai survived in such arid conditions? Whatever said, Balochistan is a geographical marvel, much like Ladakh.
Sir (Jali) balochi may nechay kleay istimal hothy hai
Aksar maghrib ki traf isharay ko kaitay hain
I could not see point 186 like you but I settled for the Tri-point of Dera More near Kashmore which is border of Balochistan, Punjab and Sindh
Well Done!
I envy you so much for having been to Rabat... We do have a town called Rawat near Islamabad, also a caravanserai having the graves of famous Ghakhar leader Sultan Sarang Khan and his sons and nephews.
Rawat is a corruption of Rabat. And you are the first person to tell me that it is a caravanserai. Everybody else believes it to be a fort. You can read about it in my book "From Landi Kotal to Wagah".
@@odysseuslahori Well to be honest a local guy told me about it being an inn...we didn't believe him, but then we explored it and realized that it was in fact one!
He also claimed that it was built over an older building, which had been there before the Gakhars renovated it... He claimed that this was where the pilgrims stayed when they would come to the puja at the mankiala stupa....
The whole talk was too interesting... especially being a Punjab Born, i’m delighted to see you kicking Dyer’s ass out... he was such an A.Hole.
Thank you very much. Dyer was an evil man,
Rabat Jaali means rabat zayreen ( lower) not naqli.
I'll take that at face value, sir. Thank you for the input.
Thoroughly interesting and marvellously narrated. Sir, I'd say it'd be worth it to get some special permit from the Iranian authorities to visit the border pillar 186. 😀
The Iranians don't seem to trust us. I've got this feeling at a regular border crossing near Gwadar.
Reginald Dyer, that butcher responsible for Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919.
I heard there's a mosque there; did you see it sir? Some say it is probably the earliest in the subcontinent.
No mosque there other the one the militiamen use. And it cannot be the earliest. The earliest mosque would have been somewhere near Turbat (Kech) in Makran.
Dyer did use soldiers from balochi, pathan and gurkha regiments for the firing in Jallianwalla Bag. He thought these indian soldiers will be loyal to him and won't hesitate in firing upon punjabi protesters.

I'm looking for a Sarai in Thal (NWFP). My forefathers owned it.
So many years ago I was there. I had stopped at Bannu and photographed an old sarai with a Chawla name on the parapet. In Thal my interest had been solely the railway station. But let me see if I can arrange another trip to Thal and find the sarai. It would be an interesting story.
@@salmanrashid8880 please do that.
