    Great review. These bars are great. Just one suggestion, at 19:30 I would (if possible) turn the nut and bolt so to the bolt is on the top and nut fastens from below. One is aesthetics and 2 less likely that water will will sit and cause corrosion issues or more so have tha lovely brown rust affect we so appreciate on motorbikes.!

      @Life2ontour  Před 4 lety

      That's a good shout and one we will need to look at. I know some bolts fitted better one way, due the welding and the relative short length of the bolt. This made it harder for the thread to catch one way, rather than the other.

    • @Life2ontour
      @Life2ontour  Před 4 lety +3

      No negatives to speak of. The right side (on both) seems to stand a little further from the bike, than the left but only if it's pointed out to you and really not by much.
      Haven't used them in anger, so can't comment on that except to say I've seen the videos and believe them to be tough.
      We love the look of them. I know others will disagree with me but they just seem to set the bike off. Yes, the bike is heavier. Yes, the bike is wider. But for our intended use, that's fine. Can't say we've noticed the engine struggling with the weight, nor is the handling effected in any way.
      We're very happy with the purchase. :-)

  • @hardworkingamerican8847

    Glad you had success with these . I can't say the same . Nothing fit like it was supposed to except the front center flat bracket that went behind the headlight . Bolts too short and the 55mm just won't thread no matter what I try . 5 hours into it and these are going back . So pissed off , they should never send these out until they are 100% ready for market . If that bolt stripped out the threads so I can't even put the OEM back in the frame I will blow a gasket .
    I can't warn people enough about not getting these until they fix their problems . DON'T BUY THESE , you've been warned !

    • @Life2ontour
      @Life2ontour  Před 4 lety

      Sorry you've had such a poor experience and I do understand your pain. I have yet to read a single comment that says they went on perfectly. They don't.
      We had to fight with ours but obviously not as much as yours. Once on, I do like the look and protection but I'm not looking forward to the day when they need to come off for some reason.
      With the main engine bolts, I did find it useful to wind them in without the bars a few times, just to clean the bolt thread - it's a good fit. I have heard of others that have taken a grinder/drill to some parts to fit.

      @@Life2ontour
      Yeah the nail in the coffin was that longer main engine bolt . I did decide to undo the top bars and take off most of the side bolts to try it with nothing . It did go in , I wish it hadn't , so I tried again for almost an hour with that damn thing . Took apart the side plastic to get more room so a ratchet would fit , found out a couple of the screws were a bit loose . I need to check all the plastic body parts screws and connectors and see if they're tight . I just don't understand why they give you those smaller bolts with nylock nuts that are 3mm too short . I had to crank down on each c clamp attachment without the washer just to bend it a tiny bit . After that I was just barely able to thread the nuts on . It was a tight fit even like that , there was no looseness anywhere like on their video .
      Not sure if it makes a difference but I got the black set . I really like the build and how they appear to be able to protect the bike but c'mon nothing should cause so much difficulty when you buy it , crap made in China is easier to put together . Now I have no idea what the torque specs are on the bolts I had to put back should be . I know that the two smaller ones on each side that are hold that triangular frame/engine mount weren't the same to begin with . The top left one I thought was going to snap my Klein 6mm Allen wrench .
      The whole ordeal took 7 hours with so much cussing and frustration I had to walk away or I would have smashed something .
      Now I have to find some other maker like SW Mototech Alt Rider Tourtech , maybe Black Dog will jump in the mix as they make bomb proof bash plates for bikes or maybe Camel ADV will start making bars ? Dang wish they would have worked , now I have to call them and be as calm and gentlemanly as possible , haha . Have fun out there and try and take your country back before it's gone for good , this Plandemic is such a con job I can't believe what the world has been duped into believing . These billionaire madmen ie Gates Soros Rothschild etc are the doom of the world .

      Update . I spoke with the part owner/owner ? and we had a friendly conversation . He's sold 150 sets of bars out in the U.S. and I am the 3rd guy to have this problem . Seems there is a chance slight build difference in the U.S. bikes that are made in Japan as opposed to ones for the European market . That's only a speculation but he did say that within a model build you can have a mm off here and there on one bike and not on others , manufacturers allow for up to 4mm in some instances in production . So I just was the lucky guy to get one a little different one way or another than most . He said he's going to use mine and another guy's set on a couple rental T7s and see if there's any issues installing them . Very nice guy and no worries about returning them .

    Hi all. I installed the crash bars last night on my Tenere. I followed the online video to a T. When it came to tightening the left 17mm bolt it gave me some worries. The bolt went into the hole fine nice and easy three quarters of the way but the last bit was tight to screw up. It's in flush now and torqued up & looking ok & feels solid. The right hand side went in far easier with not as much resistance? I didn't want to take the 17mm bolt back out incase I damaged something in the process. Can anyone give me some reassurance that it will be ok? I've sent outback a email today to ask. Am i panicking over nothing. As I say the bolt is in and tourqued up and feels solid. Just that last quarter of the bolt felt different to the other side.

      The only person that could provide you with the assurance you seek will be a mechanic who can look at your bike and assess it.
      If I had had your experience and managed to torque correctly, I'd be happy with the outcome. But happiness is personal, so please don't take my judgment as gospel.
      Ride safe and enjoy the T7. It's a great bike!
