Their comments about Jetmir are such a prime example of two Johnny players analyzing a Timmy commander. As a Timmy, I saw Jetmir and went, "I'm gonna smash someone with a birds of paradise and it's gonna be awesome!"
FYI - Imposter Mech is "a creature an opponent controls".
You can't target your own thing with it (as been said \ shown in this episode several times)
It really feels like Jetmir is THE quintessential Naya commander now. He perfectly embodies Naya in so many ways and the flavor is insanely good. Go wide in the best token colors and make them huge so you scratch the itch of going wide and going tall. Plus, who doesnt love to party?
the real Naya is not about go wide, its about big beefy creatures that are mostly beasts^^

Built a jetmir deck and he's incredibly good jinnie fay is in it and does her part but as far as commanders go jetmir wins it for me

Two enchantments that Falco Spara really likes that you missed: Inexorable Tide (every spell cast proliferates to provide counters) and Path of Discovery (every creature ETB either takes a land off the top of your library or gives you a counter to cast the spell on top).
The second one is definitely better being cheaper, but only works with creatures. Good cards for the deck though. Nice cards in the deck for sure
How many times have you heard the quote: "if i had one more mana i could of stopped/counter/boardwipe/etc.." Vasi is the commander for those situations plus upside, she is definetly playeble and very fun politics/good stuff jund commander
Strong agree! You can even help out in those situations with a card like Nullmage Advocate to give them back a counter or kill spell at a critical moment.

SO excited to see Ned on game nice!! That’ll be so great! Ever since finding out that he and Keith play magic, I’ve always wanted them to be on game nights! Especially since Jimmy knows them from there without a recipe series!
For Xander decks: Using something like Command Beacon and Sneak Attack to cheat him out without casting him while also getting all 3 triggers on your turn is great! It also gets him into your graveyard for reanimates, and people are really sleeping in Araumi of the Dead Tide with him. You get 3 ETBs and Sacrifices in one turn, and you get to attack with one still before sacrificing it.
I am going to build Ziatora. I want a Jund deck and I really hate Korvold as a Commander. This will be fun to play for me.
Thantis and Kresh are both fun Jund commanders in a more casual pod
Korvold is Jund ruler with Kresh coming in at a close second.
Another one thats actually really cool, oddly is henzie. I thought he was going to be quite bad, but that deck can get into some really cool loops. Its not as busted as something like korvold, but its an interesting direction for jund sacrifice, plus there are a whole bunch of creature cost reducing effects in the colours. Add a reanimation package and you have a deck

Currently looking at making three of the Commander's from Capenna. Might make a few videos on them. Very excited to try them out.
My personal favorite from the main set is queza. I just love how simple the deck is and how straightforward the strategy will be. Definitely will build my deck as mostly card draw with a couple of combo based win cons in the deck.
I built her as a super-cycler. You can go pretty deep on the gain and drain with things like Teferis Ageless insight + Alhammarret's Archive. Definitely did over like 90+ damage in one game in a turn haha
This has been one of the best limited sets I've played prerelease with. It was so much fun every game.
Vazi is the one I'm most excited about! Give everybody treasures and then make lands less attractive to play (Mana Barbs, Overabundance and similar). Or even cycle Decree of Annihilation to destroy all lands and force everybody to use their treasures. I'm into it.
Slap Svella in the deck to make mana rocks for you as well

The Uncommonders are all hugely exciting to me -- both for pEDH and straight commander. I wasn't high on Rocco when he was revealed but I'm really digging him now, planning out a toolbox with a Planeshift gating cycle/bounce creature suite to get him back into the hand to recast.
Uncommon leggos from latest sets are for sure mostly more interesting than the ""face"" mythic commanders.
I feel like those are usually too much "on rails"

Ziatora seems like she'd be good in a Jund Reyhan deck, or consider using Reyhan in your Ziatora deck I guess.
A slightly better solution to the Drogskol/Queza combo would be to remove one of them on the stack to stop the chain. Preferably something cheap like swords to plowshares or pongify.
Jinnie Fay seems like the cats are for attacking and the dogs are for defense
35:35 when playing both in conjunction, could you not just ramp up on Dog Tokens (by playing Cat/Dog spells then choosing to create the Dog tokens), then use the mana ability to wipe?
When they were talking about hellkite tyrant, it reminded me of the one game i won with it. I had omniscience out and all the artifacts, then closed the game with karns temporal sundering
Rigo can be built as mono-white :) include lots of 'create white weenies' effects and flyers, then finish em off with Jazal Goldmane, Charge Across the Araba, or Cathar's Crusade
I am just starting, just bought innistrad midnight hunt ? but at first I played standard with a friend who already had cards, got destroyed the first round, but played again and I won and it felt like the best feeling ever haha. Especially for learning for the first time! My brain hurt for a bit... having it all explained for the first time but I did get the gist/basic's of it all ! yay ! Still have more to learn and excited to be here haha

Vazi seems awsome, there's been so many times were someone's going off and the blue players pact of negation esc card gets stop and they have a normal counter or remove but is tapped out and you can help them stop the other and get a card out of it.
Im excited about toluz because it seems fun if you blink with something like thasa, and then super natural stamina and sac it to get your cards it could be a lot of fun
Ognis is super good. People miss how good she is with Magda and Orcus

With the Queza/Reaver combo i believe you can pull it off with a free discard outlet and a Nexus of Fate in deck; you go through the loop until you have no cards left in deck, Reaver ability is on the stack -> use discard outlet to discard Nexus, Nexus Triggers to "shuffle" back -> let Reaver resolve, drawing the Nexus -> trigger Queza -> trigger Reaver -> repeat. Doing it this way is significantly cheaper than using a shuffle titan (outside of proxies of course)

Note that Day's Undoing famously does not trigger "whenever you draw" abilities because it ends the turn with those triggers on the stack.
I did want to offer a comment on one of the Raffine recommendations. Raffine operates like my personal favorite commander, Varina Lich Queen, without the mandatory tribal synergy. While Bone Miser is a house in both decks because you get value from every discard, if you discard lands that mana only exists during the combat phase, so make sure you have some instant speed mana sink. Varina deals with this by having the commander have an activated ability, but for Raffine you may need to get a bit more creative.
A side note on Evelyn the animate dead/worldgorger thing, you always have an out to stop the combo and actually win
You could look at Ziatora as a deck where you're feeding creatures to a Dragon. Fodder tribal :D

Don't forget the combo potential of Jinnie Fay. She's much more than just "Make a bunch of tokens and swing".
Also, the dogs are actually really useful if you have an Elemental Bond on the battlefield as you will draw a bunch of cards. And if you have Terror of the Peaks in play, they all become lightning bolts!
Dudes!!! I have never thought about my pets as "power / toughness" creatures but that is totally awesome!!!! I have a 0/9 Cavalier spaniel but a 9/2 Cat! This is so awesome !!!!! I'm going to rate every animal I know!!! Thanks for a new outlook on the world!

So, I used Lagrella in the prerelease tonight, and she’s pretty much the reason I ended up 1st. I fell in love. Saw this and put it on on my ride home, got some info. Time to build a new deck, thanks for the ideas! Was wondering how I could abuse the “under owners control” thing to get value
Yes!:3 Lagrella is one of my favorite cards in the set, and part of the reason I drafted with a Brokers prerelease kit. I got 1st as well! Blinking that 3 mana angel that draws you a card, and it comes back as a 4/3 flyer. Aaaaaaa

Ziatora would be fun with a recursion fling deck. Especially if you're in a dragon tribal recursion fling, there's a number of cards that reduce the cost of dragons so you can fling a series 5/5's to anything
Jetmir, because of the color combination has access to stax pieces that basically stop Lord Xander's etb and dies triggers.
I also have had big issue with them forcing treasures down the game balance throat. I wonder if making them only use for colorless would be enough of a change. Remember awakening zone and eldrazi tokens that were almost a primordial treasure
When talking about Jinnie Fay and how Avenger of Zendikar never gets its plants to attack, There is one instance on game knights that I remember it happening, not zero. It just happened to be the time Jimmy lost to bears, a constant Math isn't just for blockers.
Or Ziatora + dragon broodmother + crucible of fire = a 4 damage end step lightning bolt that can attack during each of your turns without sacrificing anything to devour. And you get the token back at the next upkeep.
I wish we got a Warbringer-like card for the Blitz mechanic other than Henzie but I'm a fan of it

I'm building a Vazi group hug deck, the +1/+1 can be put on any creature not just creatures you own so make treasures, give someone treasures, buff my opponents creatures and I draw cards.
With Jinne Fay if the spell making the tokens is an instant why wouldn't you make the 3/1 dogs right before ur turn?
Ral storm conduit, Anhelo and body dropper i think with casualty is a cool combo/synergy

I think that Vazi would likely set up to the point where you're creating 1 treasure each turn, so that you can always activate her for the least possible value, and the counterpart of that is that your opponents can't trigger her second ability with a lot of treasures just once.
Cormela in my Marchesa the Black Rose deck, getting back Living Death or Rise of the Dark Realms, just to make my creatures REALLY not die.
Rocco's such a good chef their milkshake literally brings boys to the yard.
For Orfeo the Boulder, the red green Godzilla from Ikoria that said lethal damage is determined by power instead of toughness would be good.
I run transmute and artifact tutors and beseech the queen, demonic tutor, to search up Netherborn Altar and Sneak Attack for my Xander deck to get all 3 triggers every turn. It's a lot of fun lol.. And of course Obeka and Sundial of the infinite to keep him around or other creatures I sneak attack in if I want to. Tergrid is in the deck as a win condition, killing my opponents with their own board states.
I've built an EDH deck for Ziatora where I've gone all in on the Sac payoff, and I decided to throw in god pharaohs gift so I can pick and choose creatures to return to battle from the gy
I got the Prosh Precon (Power Hungry) and upgraded it just slightly and added Korvold to it as well as a back-up commander (both are amazing).
Currently thinking of adding Ziatora, the Incinerator as one of the 99 actually. With maybe Darigaaz Reincarnated as well since he can come back once hatched :p.
Most jund dragons play kind of well with each other, leaning a bit into aristocrat/token strategies, but swinging in hard with big boys. I love the verstiality of Jund and Abzan.
Vazi could probably go into Yurlok of Scorch Thrash as a sort of back up commander, that deck tends to play effects that punish mana generation and casting large mana spells. Also you guys passed over a lot of the Obscura commanders without mentioning that many of them have some pretty crazy interactions with Cycling.

I wanted to point out imposter mech does not clone your own creatures for Lord Xander, so just use different clones. Still a very cool strategy!
i really like Eiganjo Uprising in Jetmir, casting for 8 (jetmir being the 9th creature) gives you 8 5/2s with trample, haste, menace, double strike and vigilance, likely enough to kill 2 people if they dont see it coming
one thing to point out with lagrella theres a infinite mana trick you can do with workhorse and emiel the blessed

Nacatl War Tribe is great in a Jetmir deck. Basically turns into a one sided boardwipe if an opponent has enough creatures. Really funny in a token mirror.
i think, "Ziatora" will make a lot of fun in combination with cards like "Act of Treasure" :-P

Surprised no one mentioned Psychosis Crawler for Queza.
You can Flicker Lagrella in response to her etb, that’ll exile your opponents creatures permanently because the returns trigger misses. Then you have a whole new activation from the flicker. 🤷🏾♂️ Can’t wait to build her. I’ve already got the Stuff for her just waiting on the Magpie herself to drop and become legal.
Treasures entering tapped is a great house rule!!
Im planned on building Rocco as Blink/Sac Combo. Uses E. witness/Timeless Witness or Felidar Guardian with Panharmonicon as engines for the deck.
Ive already built a low powered version of it as a test. It plays well, but ima optimize it to do more.
Really neat that all commanders that are easy to get into for beginners are naya
Amulet of Vigor might be the way to break Ognis TBH, time for Goblin Engineer/General Gobbyness with haste enablers and just trying to spam a ton of treasure spawn into Xorn and Goldspan and ramp into some big spells or something
Also very excited to try and make something fun of Queza, Cephalids are back, gotta rep them on main since I fell in love with them during the Torment Block 😂
Bootleggers' Stash with Xorn in Ognis will be fun. I also like Inferno of the Star Mounts in it to do 20 damage in one shot.

For Ziatora, use threaten effects! Steal your opponent's creatures, then fling those instead of just your own stuff!

Eldrazi Processors seem to have a great home in Lagrella, the value!
for Xander Synergies, they kept pulling up imposter mech, but impostor mech can only clone your opponent's cards, meaning your foe would ALSO need to be running Xander for the cloning to matter. just a nitpick, but the cloning idea is great in general.
Honestly the commanders that I am most excited for in New Capenna are both Vazi, Keen Navigator and Oskar, Rubbish Collector (from the Commander Decks).
Oskar, Rubbish Collector looks like a fun commander which gives Pseudo-Madness to any card discarded. I can think of many crazy synergies with Oskar and make value out of discarding Madness Cards and recasting them with a few graveyard recursion such as Escape and Encore synergies. As for Vazi, Keen Navigator; I can see this as a fun way to do a group hug deck. I am currently brewing a Vazi, Keen Navigator secret commander deck which revolves around Juri, Master of Revue which dues face damage flinging while getting value from opponents sacrificing the treasures I gave them. More of a weird Fling deck idea but it is bound to work.
Love the analysis on these cards BTW and I think this set got me the most excited thus far in my years of playing Magic. Just love the theme and setting and lore placed in New Capenna
With the meta game having so many treasure tokens in the game Vazi has a strong presence just for being in play. I can see having a deck based on the color wheel and Vazi being a non participant in the strategy,

Lord Xander is a crazy card.
Tbh I would just find ways to give it haste so that I at least try to trigger all 3 effects in the same turn.
I've built a jetmir that I have a lot of fun swinging wide with.
i just opened a raffine at the prerelease and i have already updated my old sefris deck to run that instead. venture was fun but it was too reanimator focused so now im leaning into aggro and specifically flying tribal!
does anyone have any cool black cards that might help with flying tribal as a departure from the usual azorius home for the archetype?
I'm building Vazi, if I'm not mistaken you could make 1 or 2 treasure, give 1 or 2 to an opponent that needs it, then continue making treasure and draw cards when they use it. It gives me a little politics and draw in my treasure deck
Ziatorra made me immediately think of all the red temp-steal spells. I steal your creature, attack with it, then fling it at you.
I am excited to make an ognis deck. But I do believe green should not have ways to make treasure. If and when I build it it that will be something I leave out.

Maybe this precon just isn’t for everyone. Personally it’s one of my favorite they’ve ever put out. Each of the other bundles have had their fair share of power-displays but this set just looks like pure fun. All the goading and interactions really feel like some dirty monster politics and I’m all for it.
