So Netflix DVDs. There were 2 summers between the spring and fall semesters at the university where I went home for the summer and lived with my parents. The manager of the gym had me do other things as they were needed (clean the restrooms daily, clean the windows, take out the trash, getting tables/chairs for group events, etc.) but all of that work took maybe 2 hours of an 8 hour day. When we weren't playing basketball against some people who needed an extra body or two to play, we watched Netflix via DVDs that were shipped directly to the gym. Amongst all of the movies we watched, I distinctly remember watching Austin Powers: Goldmember and Napoleon Dynamite in the glass partitioned welcome desk office. Best $6.25/hr I've ever made.
With Bane I think what you really want to play is anthem effects, which will increase the toughness of the things that die without increasing the toughness of the things in your hand, letting you trade-up from small buts to big ones.

Actually Aluando DOES work with Suspend: 702.62b A card is “suspended” if it’s in the exile zone, has suspend, and has a time counter on it. 702.62c While determining if you could begin to cast a card with suspend, take into consideration any effects that would prohibit that card from being cast.

If you think Alaundo's bad, you lack vision. In the draft environment, he might not be a top choice, but in regular constructed commander, he's simic value cranked to 11 if you build right. It's fair to debate how *fun* he is for everybody else, but the power's definitely there.
This is what I was saying. If you can reliably untap it, you can wind up with a significant portion of your deck in play really quickly using low cmc stuff to remove counters from higher cmc stuff. Missed call there, I think.

For additional protection as well as regular interaction, I like countermagic on bodies so you can reduce the number of counterspells you'll have clogging up your hand since you don't really want to pseudosuspend them generally. Mana dorks are obviously great ramp with all the untap effects you're going to want, and I also think walking atlas-type creatures that tap to put a land from your hand onto the field have real potential here, since you'll be drawing so much but can't get lands out with Al's ability. From there, pick your favorite big threats in simic and you're good to go. I get that it's not really Jimmy's style so he may not easily see what this guy does, but I'd be really surprised if JLK didn't end up playing an Alaundo deck on an episode at some point.

i cannot wait to get Jon Irenicus. my play group loves to have big beefy monsters, angels, and ultra lifegain. i just want to take them down a notch...
An interesting thing about the Initiative you didn't mention is, if you are already in a dungeon from one of the previous cards, it will move you ahead in that dungeon instead of going to the Undercity. And if you "delve into the Dungeon" while you are in the Undercity you go deeper into Undercity rather than busting out an old dungeon. 12:00 Timebender lets you remove time counters from a "permanent card". Do cards in exile still count as permanent cards it can target? Same with clockspinning. 24:20 And it's always that movie. Where's my Animated Series Bane love? 35:00 there was a rabbit LITERALLY two sets ago in Kamigawa Neon Dynasty. (Although admittedly I thought of the tortoise/Hare pairing from Eldrane first). 1:19:00 the problem is you have to cast those spells, so you need to have Jon out to get rid of them before they badstuff YOU. Also once it gets down to 1v1 all the goaded creatures will attack you. So you need a wincon that can beat all the now-overpowered creatures you've been giving away.
Funny that Jimmy mentioned Cadira is great when you're using Rhys... since he does pretty much the same thing as her; "For each token you control, create a token". There are diminishing returns with her, but she's great in a Jetmir deck, since she gets bigger, and if she already has Double Strike, well... I understand that at a certain point you don't care if you have a thousand tokens or a million tokens, but it's always nice to be able to get there quicker.
I just wanted to see your thoughts on Myrkul and an Abzan enchantments, kinda like tatsunari but making creatures to be enchants and just stay there doing their effects... Unfortunately, I didn't see that you mentioned it :( Maybe it's not as great as I thought... Anyway, great work and huge fan! Just waiting to see your next game knights with baldurs commanders!
I'm looking forward to Myrkul too! Although aside from Constellation and sanctum weaver, I'm not sure what else really synergizes. I'm thinking of a counters strategy with creatures that gradually collect counters while they're enchantments and then starfield of nyx or opalescence?
Another interaction with alaundo: Becoming suspended doesn't require the suspend ability to be used. A card is suspended when its in exile with time counters and it has suspend. So if you wanted, for the suspend cards that alaundo can give time counters to, you can exile them with alaundo to suspend them for free
Baba lysaga’s my most anticipated card for this set; sort of like a lower powered Gitrog 😬 Edit: there’s like 6ish animator lands that are “land artifact creature” so there’s one of those “all 3”
Bane can be strong but you'll need some mean cards that take control of opponent's turn where you can sacrifice things in their turn and you answer whatever you want to answer. There's plentiful ways to go crazy with this
Baba lygsa seems like a neat card with ashaya, since ashaya turns all nontoken creatures into lands as well as there original type, so if you run artifact creatures you can get 3 types on one card, I think that works.

@@derekludwig3945 just another thing for intruder alarm to combo with lol
I definitely remember getting...I think it was the first season of Dexter on DVD from Netflix.
That was pretty much it. I jumped on when they had their digital library and didn't use the service much other than that!
Yep, I had Netflix before they did streaming. I remember getting Gladiator, Endless Summer, and Transforms The Animated Movie DVDs in the mail.
Yo!!! I had Netflix ship me DVDs for YEARS!
That’s how I watched Sopranos, classic Godzilla movies, and loads of other classics.
31:48 you can put the counters on one of your own creatures.... It just would have to attack someone becides, well, you. (Edit: it does not specify an opponents creature)
Correction to what you said about their not being a permanent in magic that is three permanent types: hammer of purphuros can sacrifice lands to make a 3/3 golem enchantment artifact unfortunately hammer of purphuros sucks and it would have been perfect for this deck……except it’s red RIP
That is terrible you are saccing a land to make a creature so you don’t have to sac a land? This makes no sense.
Thanks for making me feel old. I still have three netflix dvds shipped to my house lol
I 100% got the South Park seasons dvds shipped to my house with Netflix back in the day.
ashaya is great addition to baba lysaga, now your artifact creature is also forest land...
Jan Jansens favorite artifacts are Liquidmetal Torque and Clock of Omens.
i cannot wait to get Jon Irenicus. my play group loves to have big beefy monsters, angels, and ultra lifegain. i just want to take them down a notch...
Jon Irenicus, Cadera, and the Duke look like fun decks I'll enjoy.
I know they weren't super excited by Cadira but I love her and have been brewing up a storm with her
Jan Jansen sounds so hilarious. Like the Will Farrell character Chaz Michael Michaels from Blades of Glory.
I remember getting dvds like Iron Man shipped to my house from Netflix, good times lol.
Forget Netflix…remember coming home from school to like 3 or 4 games from Gamefly??
Jimmy, I've got a 1-up on that not only did we have the Netflix, but I remember renting VHS and N64 game carts from blockbuster, and Hollywood video.
Watched the entire series of a show called “Eureka” through Netflix dvds
I play heroes' podium in my Sisay, weatherlight captain build. it does some serious work!
My dad and I had the Netflix plan which allowed 10 DVDs shipped to you at the same time. good times.
I couldn't tell you what dvd's I got... except maybe Friends, lol.
I had DVDs shipped to me from Blockbuster lol. Cancelled that when I got my PS3 Netflix Streaming disc.
Desecration Elemental is one of the best additions to Jon. Just too mean.
According to pinned comment, they only covered commanders A-J. Myrkul will be in the next one, in K-Z
@@nathanorwick3671 ooooooooh I see! Thanks man!
I'm looking forward to Myrkul too! Although aside from Constellation and sanctum weaver, I'm not sure what else really synergizes. I'm thinking of a counters strategy with creatures that gradually collect counters while they're enchantments and then starfield of nyx or opalescence?
@@xicarus8141 Devoted druid being an enchantment is infinite mana, just sayin :P
Step 1 buy commander L.
Step 2 find Jimmy at Las Vegas. Step 3 play against Jimmy with my Isshin deck.
Step 4. Jimmy walks away and claim victory ✌️
Dynaheir, no mention of Soulfire Grandmaster. Josh would think of this.
Loooove seeing the return of Myriad this set, such a cool combat mechanic
I remember trying to watch TV shows through Netflix. Watch a disc, then wait for the next one to arrive so you can continue the show.
What about Bane and a Shadowborn Apostle deck? Opens you up to blue and white for some utility or other effects and can reload your Apostle engine.
We did have that one WU Rabbit creature that was in one of the Modern Horizon sets.
With Bane, a cool and strong archetype for it would be Clones. There are at 0 toughness for the most part sooooo....! Synergy!
Super excited about jon more than beamtown bullies because there are several creatures that force draw the game
bane might be stronger then you think, and not count its toughness but the toughness of the creature that gets killed.
Thornbite Staff seems pretty good for getting extra untaps with Alaundo when creatures die. Plus no equip cost if the staff is already out.
Another interaction with alaundo:
Becoming suspended doesn't require the suspend ability to be used. A card is suspended when its in exile with time counters and it has suspend. So if you wanted, for the suspend cards that alaundo can give time counters to, you can exile them with alaundo to suspend them for free
Nausicaa and the valley of the winds, back in the day on DVD from Netflix...
Just suspend the zero mana Spells the normal way and Fasten them with alaundo works
Baba lysaga’s my most anticipated card for this set; sort of like a lower powered Gitrog 😬
Edit: there’s like 6ish animator lands that are “land artifact creature” so there’s one of those “all 3”
Not only did I have DVDs shipped from Netflix, I just found one that never got returned.
Astarion is kinda handsome... Also a Rogue, I want him in my party!
Dynaheir does not work with cascading cataracts ability, since it's a mana a ability which does not go on the stack
Definitely got a bunch of DVD's from Netflix especially when Blu-ray was getting popular!
Bane can be strong but you'll need some mean cards that take control of opponent's turn where you can sacrifice things in their turn and you answer whatever you want to answer. There's plentiful ways to go crazy with this
The first creature I thought of for Jon Irenicus was Phyrexian Soulgorger but it's a may ability. Phyrexian negator seems like a better card.
Baba lygsa seems like a neat card with ashaya, since ashaya turns all nontoken creatures into lands as well as there original type, so if you run artifact creatures you can get 3 types on one card, I think that works.
(25:55) Hell I'm old enough that I used to own VCR tapes.😎
Haven't seen rabbits huh? Alas poor Kwain, already forgotten.
I got Beverly Hillbillies shipped when I was a kid, amazing
Jimmy Wong with the dopest Everything, Everywhere, All at Once shirt!!!! 🥰
Muldrotha's gonna adore Baba Lysaga.^^ Also Ashaya and Liquimetal Torque/Coating to easily get the 3 different types.
Cadira voltron should be focused on making her unblockable. several equipments and auras do this.
