In Season 3 of Transformers G1, Bumblebee got destroyed and remade and he liked his new style so much he went "I'm like a Gold Bug!" And Optimus was like, "That's your new name, mate."
During Marvel comic book run they had to rebuild him as Goldbug after G.I. Joe destroyed him because of misunderstanding.
It's funny b/c in SG, Goldbug hates his former name and doesn't want to be referred as so. Also he is kind of cooler as Goldbug too.
Can't think of that scene without being reminded of The Rude Awakening of Optimus Prime.

The only disappointment I have with these Transformers cards is that you can't build an Autobots or Decepticons deck with their respective leaders as commanders and have all of them included in those decks: a Megatron deck can't have Soundwave or Cyclonus (no blue), while an Optimus Prime deck can't have Ultra Magnus or Blaster (no green). You'd have to build them with different commanders, like Kynaios and Tiro for the Autobots and Breya for the Decepticons.
I'm currently working on a Jodah, the Unifier deck with all fifteen Transformers. It's going to be my first five-color commander deck ever. 😁
You should make an altar of Jodah that makes him Unicron.

That was my favorite quote when I was growing up.
I love all of Optimus' flavour. Always worrying about the ones that need it most , and ready to sacrifice himself for the cause
To add on to that, when Optimus is alone, he's bolstering himself, so he gets big when he doesn't have to worry about anyone else.
I loved all the content on the channel. Been playing this wonderful game since original Innistrad. This channel introduced me to Commander and I have not played any other format since. But because of sensitive issues with certain aspects of the game that do not pertain to the actual gameplay itself, I cannot say that I will support this game anymore. I want to thank The Command Zone (and other content creators) and the game designers for creating such an amazing catalyst in building communities and giving people something with which they can bond with each other. When Optimus Prime seized power and plunged Cybertron into war, Bumblebee found that life as one of Prime's brutal Autobots suited him well-so well, in fact, that it put him on the fast track to power, and culminated in his eventual rebirth as the more powerful Goldbug

Goldbug is also the name Bumblebee went by after nearly dying and being revived at one point, even outside the Shattered Glass universe.

Gotta be careful with the Ultra Magnus/Aggravated Assault style combos. The creatures UM cheats in don't gain Haste so they can't attack on the second/third/etc. combat steps, unless you have a way to give it to them.

The fact that they had to record in the couch because the studio was occupied tells a lot of how full they agenda are with all the new products WotC are releasing. They have to have this video out now because next week we have Jumpstart 2022 and 5 new commander decks what means at least 7 review videos to record before the next set/product arrives.

Prowl may be weird, but it's flavorful. He's a police car so he exiles/arrests something, and the owner pays the cmc to "bail" it out.
I love the play design of these cards, they all look interesting to build around. I absolutely despise the aesthetic of them though...

Not a huge fan of universes beyond overall but I’m a huge transformers fan so I can’t deny I’m hyped to play with all these cards. I get the disappointment but I think MTGs biggest issue right now is the endless flood of new product, rather than the products themselves.
that's the thing with products like these, everyone has their franchise they will make an exception for. Im personally a Fan of all the DnD stuff.
Glad you came around! This is exactly the epiphany most people need to have to be ok with universes beyond. There's SO MANY people who are deliriously excited for (insert crossover here) whenever they do it, and beyond bringing new players into the game it simply makes people happy :) There's a reason every new UB product outperforms expectations.

I know a bunch of people that decided to give MtG a shot within the last few years solely because of stuff like the DnD/Warhammer products, let alone the reskins from secret lairs featuring properties they love. I’m happier seeing more of my friends jumping into a game I enjoy, even if not all the products strike my personal fancy. 👍🏻
I loved both the Living Metal and More than Meets the Eye mechanics. My only regret is that they're not build to have that much synergy, heck Soundwave is extremely loyal to Megatron, and I can't run them in the same commander deck, unless I do Breya. Flavorwise though, I think they were a very well designed, Monarch on Starscream is 10/10 flavor win for me. Massively prefer the art on the shattered glass versions though.

yeah its really odd that you can't run all of the Auto bots in Optimus and same with Megatron. Really odd design choice there.
I don't prefer the shattered glass art, but that is only because they are basically different characters. I want megatron, not good guy megatron. Same with Optimus, the art style is better but I just can't get past the alternaye color scheme.
I would've liked it if they had partners :P
Just a note. You can't put a bunch of counters onto blaster and voltron him to win. He'll convert back to a boom box and be tapped with a bunch of counters he can't move unless you sac him. You can move them somewhere else, but he isn't going to be your big swinger. It can actually be kind of limiting, because every time you put counters on your board, you have to flip him back before sacking since all your creatures lose his bonus modular.
I love him and I'm gonna make a deck, but he's tricky.

These Transformer cards felt like an out of place artifact when i cracked my display. They just doesnt really fit into Magic.
So to answer a couple of Transformers things 1. The whole Bumblebee and Gold thing is due to the fact that when the first Transformers movie came out they had to kill off a couple of Characters due to their toys being dropped Bumblebee was one of them which in the west made people sad and kinda angry cause Optimus prime and Bumblebee were the two most popular characters from G1, 2. Joshua is right about Blaster and Soundwave being the two only music players however later in the Rebirth series they came back as Twincast and Soundblaster to only end up killing each other. 3. Due to trademark issues Hasbro had to ethier rename characters which is sometimes why they have moments of characters dying and coming back with different names or they reused the same name to hold the trademark but the characters using it sometimes don't look like the previous one that had the name like the legal battle over Jetfire (it included a whole thing with the toy company they bought or it was something about the dieaclone toys that later were retooled into the Transformers) that was the original but because of legal issues they renamed him Skyfrie which is in some G1 episodes you'll hear the two different names and fun fact Jetfire and Starscream were both Scientist before the war which is why in some media Jetfire is seen as a Despicon also cause he was later found in the north pole by Starscream and after seeing which side was more right he then became a Autobot. 4. In Shattered Glass the Despicons were labors who were mistreated poorly by the Autobots so Megatron rallied the Labors with protests but it quickly turned into a war, also Bumblebee was in the Shattered Glass comic but in a flashback which had Megatron kill him in order to save Skywarp or Thundercracker I can't remember which one, but after that Bumblebee was remade into Goldbug but due to the Autobots being dicks to each other they harassed him which later made Goldbug twisted and warped enough to kill Cybertians to prove himself as a powerful person despite being a little guy. I would recommend you read the Shattered Glass series it is so good cause it flips both sides and the characters behave so differently then how they normally act.
1:01:20 G1 Cartoon Season 3: Return of Optimus Prime. Optimus and others are repaired by the Quintessons. Bumblebee is repaired and quoted as "Hey, look at this new look, I'm not a bumblebee anymore, I'm a gold bug!" Optimus: "Then that shall be your name, Goldbug."
I think we need a gk episode using the transformers as commanders!
With Prowl, two star players that have already proven their worth: The Peregrine Dynamo and Guardian of Faith. They overperform by a LOT!
And just noting that Prowl is not an Autobot. He's a Decepticon.
I pulled Blaster at my local BRO prerelease, and my mates all pulled different ones as well, so we're planning a "battle of the bots" at some point. At first I was a bit disappointed, but the moe I've looked at my collection the more I've realised how good he can be. Just a note, you can't just pile counters onto Blaster and swing for lethal; he MUST convert whenever 1/1 counters are put on him, so he stops being a creature.
My build thoughts so far: Renata, Grumgully and Rhythm of the Wild seem great, Rishkar is good ramp. Liquimetal Coating/Torque lets you turn your creatures into artifact creatures, so you can effectively give your non-artifact creatures modular in response to removal. Forgotten Ancient lets you redistribute his counters on your upkeep. Daretti, Scrap Savant is great recursion while also letting you trigger Modular. Pridemalkin or Tuskguard Captain give all your 1/1-enhanced creatures trample. Planewide Celebration lets you recur and/or proliferate. Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded gives haste and lets you sneak-attack. Opal Palace can put additional counters on the non-creature side.
I'm ready for the Decepticons video to get some more guidance on my Megatron deck
A note about the Toralf suggestion with Arcee and deathtouch: What they described about "instead of 4 mana to kill 4 things, it would be 1 mana to kill 4 things" is only true if Toralf also has deathtouch, or you are pinging 1/1s, since Arcee is the source of damage only for the first instance of damage; all the subsequent damage is from Toralf.

I'm pretty sure the way you guys figured how double modular and The Ozolith isn't accurate. The Ozolith is a "move" effect and modular is a "put their" effect, so I think as soon as one of them resolve, there will be no counters on the modular creature
move effects are an illuuuusion! It's basically just shorthand for "remove them from this, and then put an equal amount on something else"
The reason Bumblebee has the alias Goldbug is because he got heavily damaged and got upgraded and changed his name to Goldbug

Building my werewolf/wolf tribal edh deck, "cauldron haze" and "eerie interlude" were just game enders when I had a "silverfur partisan" out on board.
Goldbug is a mature and upgraded version of Bumblebee in many iterations of Transformers.
on the Shorikai thing, that's why I love my Kruphix deck. Not only it has indestructible, it's also not easy to have it at 7 devotion and most of the time I'm trying to keep that in check, an indestructible enchantment is so hard to get rid of. In my most recent decks I don't have much of that, but I did started building on commander around the philosophy that you won't need to have your commander all the time in play, or it self protects.
The fact that Blaster is not a bard makes me sad.

I'm looking forward to an original episode that isn't related to any newest set. But with the rate of new sets coming out, i don't see it coming
Entertaining with Optimus is that he combos with basically any Card that can enter as a copy of him. Say you have Mirror Image enter the battlefield as a copy of Optimus. You then choose to have mirror image die due to the legendary rule. It then is instructed to return to the battlefield "converted" except that it's a mirror image and doesn't have another side so it just re-enters under it's normal mirror image rules. And so the combo repeats. Need some payoff to have this do something, but artifact enter/leave payoffs are common enough. You also may need a sac outlet for any copy Cards that get around legendary rule.
No, that's not how that works, copying cards that can transform into their backsides is weird. If a card tries to transform but can't, then nothing happens.
Let's say I copy one of the Kamigawa sagas that exile then return transformed. They can't, because the copy (whether it's a token or actual card) doesn't have a backside to transform into. The game will exile the card, then say "Hey, this doesn't have a backside, I can't resolve this trigger" and the card will stay in exile.
The same happens if you copy the backside of a Werewolf. Since the copy doesn't have a backside, the trigger will attempt to flip it, see that there isn't a back to flip to, and leave it alone. (Which is why copying werewolves is pretty good, because then you get to keep the better backside without worrying about it dissappearing.)
So, this means that you copy Optimus with Mirror Image, which would then force you to sac one due to the Legend Rule. If you sac the original then it would come back transformed just fine. However, if you sac the copy, the trigger will say "Ok, return to the battlefield on your backside." Since Mirror Image doesn't have a backside to transform into, the game can't resolve the trigger so it would just stay in the graveyard. Exactly the same if you make a copy of Golden Guardian and try to transform the copy.
I made a Prowl deck, and in my version of the deck I put a little bit more of ramp with Kor cartographer, stoic farmer, solemn simulacrum, cloud key, immortal sun. Than a bit of removal with solitude and kor apparition. If you want to go stax, I'd put containment priest, so you can exile the priest with prowl attack trigger on your turn and since it has flash you can leave it there and cast it on your opponents turn in response. Creatures and enchantments that make tokens on etb are great (like blessed Sanctuary, reverent hoplite), also beaucause they sinergize with welcoming vampire, to Asia's welcome, cathar's crusade.
A little bonus point goes to restoration of eiganjo, beaucause it helps ramping in the first two turns, than it becomes a creature that creates tokens (wiche can help to convert Prowl) and if you exile it with prowl, you can recast it if you want to restar the saga.

Yes, since It's an alternative way of casting it.
It's the same way with mutate.
Commander Ninjutsu is no casting, so the tax doesn't apply to it
The name goldbug was originally used in some versions of the 80s marvel comics, but they changed it back to bumblebee to work with the cartoon, later on in the series bumblebee is nearly killed and rebuilt and he renamed himself goldbug

Keep in mind with cards like aggravated assault guys that though you would get another Magnus trigger unless you have a way to give haste to your creatures (ex. Anger in the grave) that creature that enters tapped and attacking the first combat does have summoning sickness. so it will untap but not beable to attack without that haste.

1:01:03 Bumblebee turned into Goldbug during the 4 issue mini series of Transformers vs G.I.Joe.
Bumblebee, for the most part, had been blown up pretty badly. (Including his head)
When they fixed him, they had to use new parts, which altered his appearance.
Bumblebee therefore renamed himself with the new looks to Goldbug.
There was also an alternate episode cartoon (without G.I. Joe) where he suffered similar injuries with the same result. I believe that was during the Headmaster’s mini cartoon mini series.
if you have the 'shattered glass' ones the autobots are the bad guys, but theyre the good guys with the cartoon art. geeze, its almost like these crosspromotions dont even effectively advertise the other ip or something

You should know by now that Ultra Pro mostly has low quality stuff, especially their sleeves. The only things I'd buy from them nowadays are playmats or the "satin" tower/cube deckboxes

For the Ultra Magnus, Tactician extra combat step wouldn't the artifact creature that you put in to play off the trigger have summoning sickness? It comes in tapped and attacking but the moment the second attack step happened it would be unable to attack unless you gave it haste right?
Yes they would need to gain haste
In the 1986 movie, a lot of Transformers were destroyed, to make room for the new toys. Then in 1987, a new vw beetle based toy came out, but Bumblebee was already dead in the story. So they decided to rebuild him and name him Goldbug. I'm not sure why they went with Goldbug instead of Bumblebee for Shattered Glass. It was a standalone story from either the collector's club or from the botcon exclusive toys. Either way, Bumblebee is forever called Goldbug in Shattered Glass.
Ratchet was one of my favorite Transformers in the old cartoon.
Am I wrong in assuming that Ratchet goes infinite with itself, soul warden (or a similar effect), and a phyrexian alter? or would it need one more piece to work?
Ratchet's reanimation revolves around him converting back and forth. He can't do that if he leaves the battlefield.
Surprised the blue enchantment that makes everything a creature type in addition wasn’t mentioned for gold bug. You can make goldbug himself human that way so he’s never in danger. Adaptive _______?
Arcane Adaptation! Good include if you have enough creatures that aren't humans to make it worth it!
Maskwood Nexus would do the same, since every creature type also includes Humans. Redundancy is always a good thing to have.
When are people going to figure out that Blightsteel can NEVER be in a graveyard?
Pointless nitpick: it can _be_ in a graveyard. It just cannot be put in one. If the card loses its abilities, it can be sent to a graveyard, and it will remain there.

In the comic book series published by Marvel Comics from 1984 to 1991, Goldbug is a new identity taken on by Bumblebee after he is rebuilt in issue #28 (May 1987) following his destruction in G.I. Joe and The Transformers #1 (January 1987). Goldbug takes on the new name as a way to denote his increased maturity.
Dont forget to mention that Card Kingdom is also the most expensive place to get cards.................

Yes, it is. It's an alternate casting cost like mutate. I think the only exception to commander tax is commander ninjutsu because of how it is worded.
Yes it is. You are still casting your commander.
@@danielsniff6405 Any effects that don't cast your commander are exempt. (See: Derevi.) Commander tax is an additional cost to cast the spell from the command zone, so anything that casts it pays it.
To be more specific: normally, if a card is in the command zone, you can't move it out. It's there forever. (There are very few other ways in which this can happen, but I believe it's still possible.) The only reason you can cast _any_ spell is because there is something (a rule or an effect) giving you permission to do so.
For commanders in the command zone, this is rule 903.8:
"903.8. A player may cast a commander they own from the command zone. A commander cast from the command zone costs an additional {2} for each previous time the player casting it has cast it from the command zone that game. This additional cost is informally known as the “commander tax.”"
So long as you're using this rule to cast it, you'll pay commander tax, because it's the cost to invoke it. If you get your commander in play in any other way (such as by an effect that puts it on the battlefield from the command zone, like Derevi's or Yuriko's), you won't.

Why are they so high on Jetfire? It costs 5 and it transforms after you activate the ability.

This was just WotC testing the waters for a full set of commander decks to see how they would be received after the whole 30th Anniversary debacle, change my mind.
I once got 2 people with a Blightsteel in my Purphoros sneak attack deck. 1 got hit by Warstorm Surge (It says the creature deals the damage, thus infect) and swung at the second one.
I miss the episodes that exclusively discussed deck-building and gameplay strategies. Or the ones that looked at specific categories of cards.
It feels like there has been nothing but set & commander reviews for a while now.

If commander is a social format you should do an extra turn that’s two headed giant commander and establish some sort of rules for that.
With regards to Ultra Magnus' attack trigger, a Rust Goliath (10/10 trample) wouldn't be too shabby either. Neither are Artificer's Dragon (R: +1/0 to ALL your artifact creatures until end of turn)., Cityscape Leveler,
I hope that if we ever get a rerun of Transformers Cards; They give us a Melding Power Master Optimus Prime that’s 5 Colours, and a Galvatron to cover all the Decepticon Colours/

You'd be restricted to Starscream, Blitzwing, Slicer, Flamewar and Blaster... no less restricted than an Optimus or Megatron deck.

I think you were right about goldbug being there because of the Shattered glass tie in(now I'm really wondering why is hasbro pushing a shattered glass toyline) if you look up Slicer he is prity obscure and erelivent outside shattered glass, to a lesser extent is Flamewar but she dose appear to be relivent in the comics at least
Chiming in here for those who are dissatisfied with these cards (really? an entire video concerning HALF of a handful of cards you have to buy premium product to acquire or plunge into the secondary market?!), WotC made an actual Transformers card game in 2018 but decided to kill it off in 2020 after making five sets because "our product offerings didn’t meet the expectations of the broader fan base to engage further with the brand"
Despite this, there is a thriving community that has gone on to innovate upon it with their own sets and some of the Transformers were proportionally sized in their cardboard based on their power. If you want to have an entire deck of Transformers cards and play just for fun, consider looking into the Transformers Trading Card Game, which is still available for purchase on sites like tcgplayer for cheap.

Arcee can't shoot face... Boros Reckoner, Stuffy Doll and Spitemare. All cards that can allow Arcee to shoot face. Just need a few cards that give indestructable and boom keep shooting
