A Pillar Gauge Mount Long Term Review

I know it's been a while! Today I'm reviewing the A-pillar Gauge Pod mount from Autometer I installed several months ago and how the pillar has held up. So far so good with the except of some high wear areas on the paint finish. No worries though - if you have the same issue I review how I'm fixing this. Did you pain all the pillars? What paint did you use?, they Vinyl headlong we spray? And why that vs a plastic rattle can spray. I hate my tan pillars.

I only painted the gauge mount pillar (left the others stock). The vinyl spray I used is linked in the description above.

what do you do about the air bag when you install the pod? isnt it unsafe if you crash and it goes off on the pillar all the gauges going into the drivers face or something

I did think about that. I’ve since utilized the banks a pillar mount which puts the gauges a bit lower. It wasn’t available when I first did huge install. I reasoned that the apillar bag deploys to cover the side window and therefore blows down rather than out. However I’m not sure how true that logic is and am mode comfortable now using my banks apillar mount.

@@HarrisonsGarage Okay was just wonder cause I have one I got from ortiz custom pods and it crossed my mind about the air bag lol incase there was an accident or something what would happen if the pillar bag went off. But you are right the pods sit lower and the bags above so dont think it would interfere with the gauges upon deployment. Thanks

@@m4xripper that’s my thought and hope at least. I definitely wouldn’t consider myself an authority on the airbag. In the end it was a calculated risk I chose to take.
