@@kezzab7961 Sorry for the late response. Just get used to higher sensitivity and work your way up. I would aim for 8-10 sensitivity.
      For other settings:
I use the adaptive triggers on strong. It's probably not too important, but i think it helps a bit.
I use hood cam, bc you can see the yaw of the car. It also gives you a bit more overview.
Also play around with sound. Tire squeal is an important indicator in racing games, so you should be able to hear it all the time. Also hearing your opponents can be very useful.

I just transitioned to a wheel 2 months ago after using controller for 2 years. Both have their pluses and minuses and both require a certain amount of skill to accomplish golds and high levels at racing. I'm in VR and the wheel just gives me so much more immersion and the aluminum rig is super comfy for those long sessions but the ps5 controller is great and the main thing is to have fun. Great video Tidge, if you ain't fast enough just get good lol.

That's wicked Tidge. I also noticed that even after 3 months after getting a wheel its rly easy to jump back on a pad. People don't believe when I tell them but pad is legit easier to be good on than a wheel. By good I mean you can gold everything and get to A+. Its beyond that where the wheel excels at. After 3 months I'm still only matching my controller times on a wheel in tt, and in race pace its just not even close, if I try that pace on a wheel I keep crashing. On a controller I just have more confidence out of corners knowing fully whatever happens I can catch the oversteer EASY.

I can't get gold on the wheel. I'm usually not far off, But I understand it's just my lack of top skills. I've found there's a group that is just naturally talented and those of us who struggle. I'm happy having clean, fun races and getting silver. Not everyone can be amongst the fastest. It's not easy, but that's the point. If it was like an arcade game and everyone could get gold with almost every car it wouldn't be a real simulator. It takes natural gift, kind of like hitting a baseball, some are naturally gifted, some have to work and practice harder and some will never be major league but that's OK, the point is to keep trying and have fun! Know your limitations but keep working. Great video Tidge, you got skills most of will never have. I know I'm high B/low A and will probably never reach A+ but that's OK, I race clean, occasionally make mistakes and hit someone, but apologize if I do, but typically I'm the victim 10x more than the perpetrator. I don't care about gold or A+, I want to be challenged abd have fun, good clean battles. People are obsessed with "winning" or "getting gold". Like you said, it's about just trying to improve. 👍 👌 TY

Pad player myself here too, had no really issues getting gold on this as well. Took me a good few attempts to dial into the track.
I often think I’d be faster with a wheel and pedals, because I’d have better throttle and brake feathering abilities than I can do with a pad.
That said I can most often compete on a pad, multiple gold TTs and generally competitive online at the top of the B lobbies, pushing for A lobbies.

I'm a pad user and I can easly say the pad give you a massive reaction on throttle and brake pedal, if you have a steering wheel and meet someone in a pad he will brake later than yourself and accelerate faster. This also because it is faster to reach the end of travel of a trigger than of a pedal. The only negative impact that pad have is about handling in my opinion and tyre saving

this video cracks me up in a good way, so thanks again!
it took me years to save for a wheel after using a pad for 24 years, and setting up a 'rig' is not essential if like me you have other financial priorities!
just use a reliable wheel (cheap LT29 which does me perfectly for a while to come) clamped to a cheap 'hospital bed style' table and firm couch that i already had!
wheel was like $380 Aus new, done! (AUS dollar remember is not worth much next to the Pound).
that change from pad to just a cheap reliable wheel gave me the courage to finally start racing in the world championships just this month! yesterday came first, yes, i'm a very happy chappy!
i'd like to think if i can do it well.... 🏁🇦🇺

Sometimes the guys who complain in this way needs a very personal help. Take myself for example, I am mostly on AT and pad acceleration - I am good enough to gold all the non-dirt Circuit Experiences on AT (including Nurburgring North), but I remained completely offline for a long time. Then I began to test my skills on the online TT, starting from Suzuka on the McLaren Formula 1 car and got a very frustrating Bronze time, sitting around top 30% of the worldwide ranking. After 3 more online TT, I got my first silver and got into top 20% ranking, but it wasn't until the Nurburgring NSX TT that I realized I can be the top 3% player (as it is a track that I spent almost half my racing hours in learning and that it is too difficult for many people who would otherwise be better than me in other tracks), doing a sub-7:00 time. I realized that many times, I wasn't able to replicate what these video guides are doing in a fine way, and then I began to push myself harder - from the throttle input (on the pad), the racing line and even the choice of car (in the case where you pick from a group of cars). Since the end of last year, I have been consistently on top 10% world ranking of the online TT, and on 2 occasions, even top 2%. It's very clear that the controller is not really limiting the players, but rather how capable we are in self-learning, how observant we are to the learning materials and how much time we can spend on perfecting our skills.

I'm not the best GT7 driver, but I did get gold on the last 8 or so time trials with a controller. Some of them (for example this Dino one) were actually pretty easy. The Bathurst one with the Genesis was truly painful, because you need to be extremely precise in that middle section and not to hit the walls, thats I think harded with a controller than with a wheel.
But yeah, if it's just 1 lap, it's more about the driver itself (hitting break points, accelerating at the right time, using the correct lines) and not the hardware

Don't need a wheel per se (sometimes I could see a rig being far more effective, like if you are missing a few fingers or something). I've beaten Tidge on many tests/trials with a controller. It's down to ability and dexterity. Tidge even used a horrible controller config because you cannot overlap brake and throttle in that application.

Now before I start I just want say that I have to use the right stick for the throttle and brake input, I do have those set to the triggers as well and use those when I need to do quick inputs on both at the same time.
I don't know that's a big difference but just to be clear.
I get gold in these all the time on a pad and I do think it very possible to be on par with the wheel and pedal drivers.
Now, having said that I also believe having used both that 'getting good"(for lack of a better phrase) is easier to do on wheels and pedals (or atleast it was for me than it is on a pad.
I don't use countersteering assist, maybe it's faster with that but I tried it and didn't like it, didn't feel natural.
And finally I firmly believe that some car and track combo suit the wheel and pedal better when it comes to to tirewear and fuel saving. And maybe there are some combos that suit the pad better,I don't know.
Oh and having to take my thumb of the left stick (my steering) to change my heads up display is really annoying. Just me have two of those displays so I can constantly have the radar on and whatever else I need. That's my biggest issue with the pad vs Wheels, so many buttons on the wheels and you don't have to let go of the wheel when using them.

Played on pad for years. Still worse on my wheel. The wheel is more fun, but the pad is easier, mostly because of the oversteer. Catching slides on a wheel with 0 TC is solid. So I play 0 TC on pad, 1 on wheel when racing as I can't push as hard on a wheel yet. But for TT I'll be 0 even on wheel as I can get a little faster. But pad was completely playable and competitive.

But not because I'm a automatic pad driver. I'm just slower than even Cpt. Slow😂.

There are specific cases where I am still faster on the ctrl, like rally, snow and slidy cars such as in this TT. The guy complaining is wrong.

With a pad you can go lock to lock in blink. Makes controlling oversteer much easier in my opinion. You need to be much smoother on wheel.

    • @ArumesYT
      @ArumesYT Před 3 měsíci +1

You can move the stick lock to lock in a blink, but the actual steering is slower because of input smoothing. BUT when countering oversteer, the game helps a lot in picking the right AMOUNT of countersteering to apply. With a wheel you have to get the angle exactly right all by yourself.

I've got gold until the S license on the special stage with the castrol Celica (I think) and hitting the walls is stopping me from getting gold. I like completing it in order, so after that (including all the master tests), I don't have any golds unless I got it in the first couple of tries.

It's difficult, ngl, but it's absolutely possible to get gold with a pad, I've gotten gold on all 11 time trials I've done, and some of my times have been in the top 1.5% of times
It takes me a lot of effort but it is absolutely possible even on the most hateful and difficult trials
The tt with the Ford roadster was one I had the potential to have gotten a sub 1% time on, but I could never string together the sectors needed
I tend to stop when I'm within 2.7-2.8% of times, but I know I can do better if I pushed it more, but I'm generally not that bothered as long as I get gold (if I had a friend who played it I'd push a lot harder though)

I don't think pad is slower. On certain occasions, it is actually better than a wheel imo. however, the wheel does add to the immersion. I think if you have the skills, you will be able to do almost same lap times with both. I know this cause I'm a B rank driver & my lap times are almost similar with both. As my skill driving skill increases, it will show for both the pad & the wheel.
so, basically; anyone who thinks they are slow because they don't have a wheel just need to get better.

    • @Targon999
      @Targon999 Před 3 měsíci

Agreed, though from my experience, the wheel is more accurate in most settings. I'm usually at least half a second faster with the wheel. Currently i got 17 gold medals and i only got 2 of them with the pad (if my time with the Dino will be good enough, that is). But a better driver like Tidge here can get gold on anything I guess
