The first minutes and you immediately feel the atmosphere of the besieged city, meanwhile your team is waiting for an order from the command.
Top class immersion.
It's a shame there aren't games like this anymore.

This brings back memories. I played this game with the new sorround sound headphones back when it came out. Real fun hearing footsteps and knowing where the enemies at. Best multiplayer experience I ever had, like the USAS-12, comically nicknamed "You Suck At Shooting" gun with explosive shotgun rounds that kill enemies behind cover. I even got the novel for this game, Battlefield 3: The Russian. Some good childhood experience I had. Then my life went downhill real fast. Got kicked out of the house after I graduated and disowned by family. Now I have depression

Not the video I expected to type some stuff like this on but, it's definitely not your fault. With all due respect fuck your parents. At least you graduated and did your responsibilities right while growing up. I had to get a high school equivalency because I fucked around, and I still somehow live with my mom. Wanna say I'm worse off for it, I still don't have a trade that can get me a decent job, I'm just bouncing job to job and it usually never lasts more than a year or so. Your parents were ungrateful. I would be depressed as well, but I want to say more so angry. Sounds like they were a bunch of boomers who had a kid as a novelty, but they created a very bright individual I can see. It's their loss they didn't choose to be proud.
So please take it from a loser like me that you have hope and potential.

I invested so much time into BF3 and BF4. Definitely the best games I’ve ever played, replayed the campaign numerous times, have such a thrilling experience and view, made you feel apart of the game it was that insane
I miss the bf3 beta so much lol that’s was my first introduction to battlefield. Metro was really fun experience

BF3 was the best chapter in the franchise, hands down. It was so far ahead of its time that it still looks good today. Love it.
I forgot how much of a technical marvel this game in 2011.
It still have one the best sprinting animation.
To me, it looks like they took this game seriously with military advisors and probably tons of footage that was available in modern combat theater. The focus just seemed to be: make a fun battlefield style game but also making it as immersive as possible. This was the pinnacle of the franchise in that respect.

If this was released now as gameplay footage, I'd be praising it as a marked improvement over past battlefield games and marvelling at its realism.
Something about the Battlefield 3 and 4 campaigns having a link lore wise was amazing. I just wish the newer and future Battlefields would pay attention to the story that was set and told. There's even a possibility it could've linked to 2142 and battlefield 2, and the writers at EA are actually decent at writing a story if they try (Tiger I campaign from BF5).

This still is the best Battlefield till date, crazy they were able to do this in 2011. Nothing has ever been so groundbreaking for me as Battlefield 3
I sank hundreds and hundreds of hours into this game. Wish ea would give this game some next gen updates.
I never could really understand why people hate on this campaging. It was simply amazing, everything from the sound design, soundtrack, and visuals were all next level.
Honestly I loved all the stuff that felt like regular soldier in a big war. I think most of the hate comes from the dumb covert Russian nuclear stuff that felt like it was trying to copy COD.
People hated on it because it did nothing new. It does a fantastic job showcasing Frostbite visuals, but is designed like your average on-rails COD campaign at the time. Most of all it completely fails at representing ANY of its combat sandbox that's present in the multiplayer.
Not saying it's not fun, all power to everyone who enjoyed it. But these are the reasons others hated it.

I remember this game coming out on a weekday. I was still in middle school at the time, and I had saved up money long enough to pre-order and finally pay off the game. When I was finally able to go and pick up the game with my older brother, I didn’t even get a chance to play it until that Friday because I wasn’t allowed to play video games on the weekdays. I just stayed at the case all week lol. Good times.
I loved this game, but for some reason none of its successors have been able to captivate me as much.
Because they've watered down the campaign for multiplayer crap because EA be greedy AF!

Yeah, the story wasn't as political thriller-ish nor as cinematic and the feel of the guns just doesn't feel right in multiplayer.
BF1 multiplayer was solid, but the campaign wasn’t the same. Granted, I think Battlefield has a problem of being too much of a fit for modern weapons, but nothing we can really do about that.
Battlefield 3 was amazing, and I spent countless hours playing multiplayer.
Had to come back and watch to prepare my self for when we go to war with Iran. Thanks 🙏🏽
The background sound of the battle from 1:14 is fucking Epic!!. They should've used it more in the game.

STILL my favorite Battlefield game. With Bad Company 2 next followed by Battlefield Hardline which is extremely underrated, especially the mulitplayer. Funny I just reinstalled this game onto my PC yesterday and this shows up in my recommended vids. Awesome. And this level especially is sick. Some of the best combat ever in an fps.
I miss these graphics. Real enough to be immersive, but still have great visibility for enemy/item detection
Battlefield 3 desperately needs a remaster. Give it better graphics (while keeping the artstyle) iron out some of the glitches in the campaign, and give modern consoles 32v32 (it was only 12v12 on the PS3 and Xbox360 versions) multiplayer, while keeping the gameplay and sound design unchanged. That would be perfection!

What a masterpiece… the music, the weapon sounds and effects, the story, the incredible action in the levels. Such a compelling and remarkable game. Really made you understand why the marines are The few and the proud… I’m still hoping that this game gets remastered one day.. and if it does than iL finally by a ps5 or whatever the fuck they come with…
It's rather strange the decision to use regular illumination flares when the USMC would have a marked advantage with their night vision equipment against the Iranians. It would have made more sense if they were IR flares.
To be honest the illumination flare just dicked them over as it hid the enemy behind a blinding light and lit up the whole field so that the enemy had a clear view of every soldier who passed that wall.

Reading the comments of this video makes me sad about the current state of the gaming industry. Back in the day from 2000 - 2015 video games always tried to push the boundaries of hardware while also telling a compelling story. Although Battlefield 3 tells a story about a fictional war between Russia and the US in 2014, the story still makes immersed in the role of the soldiers you play as because of it's at the time graphics. Which I still think it holds up to todays standards and some times surpasses it. The multiplayer is what I think made Battlefield 3 an actual competitor to Call of Duty. I remember the days when both community's would always strike up debates and arguments of which multiplayer was better at the time.

I didn't play BF3. my first bf game was bf4, and I have to say, what a game it was.. I still think that battlfield 1 is my favourite bf game, if not my favourite game in general, but BF games before that had some of the best solo campaigns I ever played... shame that since BF1 they stopped making them as good...

@@xxxbillybobswag5747 Yes, that’s what it’s *supposed* to do, but looking at the video you can barely see the enemy soldiers because the illumination round is so blindingly bright, meanwhile the rest of the field is lit up for all the enemy to see

The only visuals showing their age here are the simple reflections. Add Ray Traced reflections here and it can compete with any game released in 2023.

Carries a 91lb mortar in a charge through enemy fire to fire a single illumination round and then abandon it.
I know they lost so many guys on the second assault and i was thinking man why arent they using the mortar
Realistic/ immersive = getting shot every few seconds and also reloading after three shots.
Grenades don't flash or catch people on fire or blow them out of windows by the twos. Dude would be making that run w/ a $20k infrared scope. Would he really be hauling ass down that hill with 20 pounds of M6 mortar, tripod/baseplate, and rounds plus all his gear? Maybe. Looks great tho!
Ahhh back when BF was really good. Small gripe though, aren't mortar tubes pretty fucking heavy? This guy is just running with it like he's carrying a soda can

One simple change they should have done to this game is have names by the subtitles. I had no connection at all to any of the characters except the last guy in the last mission, because I could never keep track of who said what or had what personality.
I don't really understand the part that carrying a mortar all the way down just for 1 round of illuminating flare and then abandoning it straightaway. Is that a real tactical use irl?

Battlefield and Call of Duty wants to be cinematic experiences, not realistic ones. And they do so by constantly limiting player choice. It's not like the old milsim games where you could wander around as you liked in a broad mission area.
