  • Here’s an update on the car. Haven’t really messed with it too much. Spend almost a year waiting for these newly release camshafts from Urgedesigns.com the results are more than satisfying.

      Nice build! I have a very similar parts list for another stroker I'm building, also have a set of these Urge cams waiting to go in.
      One question, how did you determine you needed more p2v clearance on the dyno?

    • @ChaseDiaz_garage_works
      @ChaseDiaz_garage_works  Před 2 lety +2

      @@Fodaaaa420 thank you. I have a cam degree kit that I use. I measured all clearances except valve to valve. Plus, I have aftermarket pistons so there was an unknown variable. I had to figure it out. I probably could’ve ran the 0° intake cam angle but I would be around .020”- 030” p2v clearance. Too close for my comfort and was not worth the extra hp.

      @@ChaseDiaz_garage_works ok cool! I have a degree kit coming in this week, wasn't sure if you went through that effort on the dyno. I'm thinking of setting mine up with the adjustable gears while I build the motor, trying to make them a drop in swap on the dyno since i plan on the stock cams for break in. But we'll see lol

    Now that's a happy engine. There is a drop of torque in the upper band. I think you could fix that with more cam tuning, but it's a superb build. Congrats. I love the sound of a B or F series engine screaming to 9k. That dyno reads very low. I think you have atleast 270 crank hp or more. The power it picks up at around 4-5k is so much better than stock. People don't realize that the pre vtec lobes have very low lift and modest duration in fact it's pretty much an economy car before the crossover. People are now stupid enough to swap in K series for more mid range but don't even try aftermarket cams first. Thats youtube culture. I could care less for K swapped S's. The record holding S in the quarter mile used an F motor. Variable cams are a moot point in racing. Again, awesome build. With that compression ratio, you'll get an ass load more power when you run e85.

    So how long has this been safely revving to 9k?
    About to tune my ap2 soon and want that 9k redline but it seems most people think 8500 is the limit

    • @ChaseDiaz_garage_works
      @ChaseDiaz_garage_works  Před rokem +1

      The engine still runs today. No issues to speak of as far as rotating assembly. Think of all the k series out there with the 99mm stroke turning that 9k rpm or more. The f22 is less at 87mm stroke. I am not sure on the length of rods between the two engines on the top of my head. It’s not a safe rod/stroke ratio to turn that fast by any means for long term usage but aftermarket parts just lengthen the wear and tear. I used to be real cautious about it but I’ve learned to just go with it.

    • @enolamns
      @enolamns Před 2 lety

      @@ChaseDiaz_garage_works 223 seems low for all the mods with those cams on an ap2. Vtec engagement could be around 3000-4000 rpm.

    • @ChaseDiaz_garage_works
      @ChaseDiaz_garage_works  Před 2 lety +2

      @enolamns You’d have to be from the area to understand the way this particular dyno reads numbers. Not all dynos are equal. Vtec at that low rpm would be annoying. S2000s are near 4k just cruising on the highway. It’s not practical to set vtec that low.

    • @enolamns
      @enolamns Před 2 lety

      @@ChaseDiaz_garage_works man vtec can be set depending on % of throttle..no one drives in vtec at low throttle...you clearly need a better tuner or learn some more stuff

    • @ChaseDiaz_garage_works
      @ChaseDiaz_garage_works  Před 2 lety +3

      @@enolamns wow. You’re judging my intelligence based off a comment and dyno video. YOU clearly have a lot to learn. 😂 Plus, I already said no one drives with vtec that low. I just worded it different and didn’t get into the details. I guess it sounds better when you say it.
