    PNW there are 3-5 boot makers Wesco,Whites,Franks,ect still make there hand last boots all are vary good boots . I have sized 1 full size down !! If you need a resole just have Nicks replace the soles for $225 and if the uppers are good shape ! If not to a total rebuild . They are some of the finest PNW makers out there I have 3 pairs my self and I own 4 pairs Whites . I don't have a pair of Wesco (love to own them ) I have Grant Stones 5 pairs in my collection .

    Whites are my favorite PNW lace up boots but do own more than a couple of Nicks. I have a few pairs in the collection with the higher heels but prefer a less tall one. My pair of urban loggers in British tan have a lowered heel. I am already around 6 feet five....lol

    Red Wing don’t make boots like they used to. But I got a pair of JK boots and I went to there store in Spokane Washington, and got custom fitted. And you can’t go wrong.

      @@colinw2104I got the custom super duty because I have such messed up feet. But if you decide to go with JK Boots then I would highly recommend you talk to Nate or Nathan Thomas. They are extremely helpful, but to tell you the truth JK Boots is the best boot I have ever worn. Literally not a blister or sore on my foot. The first day I wore them and I worked a 14 1/2 hour day on my feet. And I have had my new boots for just over 2 months and I have worn them for about 660 hours so far and they still look brand new, not even a scratch on them the leather is that tough. The only problem I’m having is my souls are wearing out fast. But I got the white X sole. If you work on concrete or asphalt all day long, I would not recommend that so. I would recommend either the red X or the honeys sole. But besides that I’m very happy with them.

    Nick’s are my favorite PNW boots however, they aren’t meant to be worn with a more formal occasion. If you’re looking for a pair of shit kickers then I would say Nick’s are the best option with all the PNW boots but if you want a pair for a more formal occasion then I would recommend brands like Grant Stone. GS makes boots similar to AE and Alden’s. There aren’t many boots/shoes better than John lobb or Edward green but you should review some Grant Stone Diesel’s or Ottawa’s.

    I have 3 pairs of Nicks and now I cannot wear any off the shelf boots. My first pair are over 4 years old and I gave those to my son. Since Nicks are rebuildable he had them rebuilt to his size which is a half size bigger. I rotate between my 2 pairs and will most likely never need to buy another pair of boots. Though I been told I need a pair that are a little nicer so maybe a pair of Falcons are in my future.

    If the Urban Loggers are good for folks on the shorter side, does that mean that the Roberts are good for those on the taller end? ( for reference I am 6’1” )

    • @Yo_Ima_Goat
      @Yo_Ima_Goat Před rokem

      The urban loggers and the Robert's are built on the same last. The difference between the two is the sole and heel style, and the top style by default
      Edit: The heel style, as in the shape of the heel. The height of the heels is the same on both of these. Their HNW last will have lower height heels, with a tad less arch support, if that's the way you want to go.

    Do you wear the same size in your Redwing as the nicks. I'm thinking of ordering a pair but live in Australia so returning them won't be an option. My Redwing iron rangers are 9.5 D and fit very nicely. Does the nicks fit feel the same or more/less generous (if the same size) compared to Redwing. Any advice would be appreciated

      commenting just to come back to this. had 7.5D rangers & nicks recommends 8.5D on the 55 last so i’m equally as concerned.

    • @kevinmunro3361
      @kevinmunro3361 Před rokem

      @@wehrwxlf i saw a vlog recently where a guy bought the roberts (55 last) and the falcon (hnw last) both in 10D i think. He said that the Roberts felt half a size bigger in length to the falcon. It appears that the higher arched last creates more length which makes sense. I know this doesn't really help but something to consider. I wear 9.5D in iron rangers so have decided to order the falcon in 9.5 E even though nicks size chart has me at 10.5 D. They recommend going down a half size so that puts me at 10D. My iron rangers are a little narrow but the length is perfect so I'm going to take the gamble and hope for the best

    Why would you say Nicks boots should be worth 1.000 dollars ?
    They are heavy outdoor work boots and take months to break in.
