Agreed. As soon as I saw those holes I thought it was garbage. Croc makes a work line with no holes and slip resistant already, all they would need to do is slip that sock into it 🤦♂️
Ugg’s and moonboots also get soaked in water, way more than these boots. What y’all are so mad about. These shoes are made for city life and for statement rather than for heavy duty or playing in snow in Canada
They were great! I had a pair that were obnoxious colours but they were so warm and light. They felt almost like a cast boot until you put them on, then they would become the perfect soft, everyday boots. Wish I could get another (less crazy coloured!) pair.
All while you were showing the half-cut, I thought: this could be a way to make perfect kids boots that would be super cheap, if there were no holes in it, a little more insulation, better water-proofing, etc. And of course, no brand name to boost the price. It could be a good idea to do a video about that, for parents with low income: which are the best no-name cheap boots for kids, since kids usually need a new pair each year until they're 15.
Thus far with my son ive found its way better to buy slightly used higher quality boots from garage sales/thrift stores/ebay/etc.. And then either sell/gift them when he's done. Buying new seems stupid especially when there's so much kid stuff out there that's barely been touched.

Maybe the rain boots and wool socks worked in your state for winter. Here where I live you’d have frost bitten toes if a person tried to use that for winter boots. Not all parts of the world have winter weather conditions that that little for winter cold protection would work.
Exactly, all they had to do was not sew and glue it in so it could be removed and washed.. It would literally cost them less money to improve the product by at least 100%.
It would be so much easier to make a versatile removal washable boot like lining that had snap attachments for the holes in the regular Crocs if they wanted to go with the look. You could change the look of the croc with a different lining. Wash it easily and still decorate it with the weird badges if you wanted to. And it would be virtually the same boot without a lot of design flaws.
They had that for one time for their basic models before the brand experienced a resurgence in popularity. It was the basic style without the strap and a removable liner to wear it with or without faux shearling.
EDIT: apparently they do still sell the all cast ones which don't have holes, but the quality doesn't seem the same as the ones 10+ years ago. I'd like to see the duck boots and Axle models brought back. The Crocs boots I had were EVA all the way up, no holes or anything, and they were marketed as rain boots since they were they were the most waterproof I've ever seen. That was like, 2008 or so, and I miss those. I would have needed only one size larger for them to still fit. They did get really sweaty, but as a kid jumping in puddles, they were great. The floatiness was a bit hard to get used to, but yeah, the old ones never had holes in the boots, they made ones without holes and they looked like a neon coloured duck boot. But they don't make stuff the way they used to. They used to have factories in Canada, Mexico, and Italy, possibly others, before moving only to China, and the quality went down after that.

I remember having to wear bread bags on my feet because my old worn out boots had holes. That was because of being dirt poor. Now Crocs is bringing back bread bag liners because of shitty design.
Why not sell just the lining and have it be snapable from the inside to the shoe itself, that way you could take it out and wash it. But then then again if you want to wear crocks in the cold, just wear loose woolly socks with them. The UGG boots look like kuoma boots that are very common and cheap in Finland, they are waterproof and warm.
Ligit what I thought and if you're super into Crocs you could change the color of the lining or the Crocs. Also if the lining and Crocs are both washable, the lining being machine washable, no issues with trapped stuff.
I applaud you for these videos. I buy most of my apparel and footwear online, so I don't get the chance to physically inspect the quality of materials and build before buying.
I’d imagine the croc still has holes solely for the purpose of saving money. It’s clearly just an existing croc glued together with a boot insert. Using a product they already have to make an entirely new one is probably better on expenses.
I had a well to do customer that never had a complaint one about his repair bills on his watercraft. Was talking to him one day bout his hobbies and the expense. Turns out he is a foot doctor, told me that the Porsche RS Cup car he drove was paid for by Crocs, Chuck Taylor's, and Flip-flops.

If they’d make these properly I could see them being very handy for taking my dog out on wet and cold days. I kinda love the idea, actually. As they are I wouldn’t buy them though. One of my favorite things about crocs is that they are so easy to keep clean. I have no use for crocs I can’t keep clean.

That’s why I bought the other Croc boots. I got the white ones that are totally enclosed and higher on the foot as well as $99. But I also don’t expect perfection from them. I just want them to be comfy to and from my car. I walk with cane and I can’t bend my knees much. So the ease of getting them on and off is what I want. Plus these have better traction on the bottom and don’t have jibbetz ability on them! I have other Croc’s for that. I love my Crocs but like I said I like the more expensive one better. It is constructed better.

But also, they make some other stuff that's actually pretty good: boat shoes, sandals, etc. They're a smart company. I don't think they'll die off anytime soon.
I think Crocs would have benefited sealing those holes like they do for the work Forest version of their clogs or even the Sherpa lined clogs that also don't have holes over that top of the foot. I know Crocs make a duck boot or maybe they used to I don't remember seeing them the last time I visited their website
Yeah, it seems like it would be better make the liner removable so you wear it like a sock (maybe with some retention so you don't take it out until you want to) inside of the rubber boot and can clean them individually.
I don't think that the problem with the holes is that you can't get out what fell through the holes but that stuff falls through the holes. On a layer that is not waterproof. When you are wearing boots to keep your feet dry.

You're definitely not way off with these boots or the brand in general. I work with people that swear by Croc's due to the comfort, but they don't even work in restaurant settings due to hot water spillage and whatnot. I use a pair of lmockoff Blundstones that while held together with Shoe Goo due to cracked leather and are safer, more slip resistant in the environment, a dude burned his toes when hot oil hit his crocs. My main boot of choice is a pair of wonderful Redback's that have to fail me. Croc's are terrible in general and their winterboot as you said in the video is only for folks who want to look trendy. Great video as usual and best to you and yours.
Frustratingly they could have just gone the route of Hunter and made a companion sock for the standard Croc. If they just made weatherproof insulated booties that fit into Crocs (which you could pull out and wash), I think they would sell well.
I don't know anything about the boots but Crocs work shoes are crazy. I had my first pair last 6 years and after cleaning them they still looked new I literally went out and bought a new pair because I just thought is was gross wearing shoes for that long lol there was really nothing wrong with them. Not to mention how comfortable I think they are, ugly as hell though. I will say it is so obvious what they did with these boots though they just took all the excess stock of all their old crocs probably all the ugly colors that never sell and just sewed a liner into them and called it a boot their was no RND or thought put into these it was just to get these millions of unsold shoes to finally be sold during the winter when their business drops off.
You should do a review of Kodiak boots. They seem to be a decent budget Canadian boot company. My partner has had a pair for many years now and they have held up tremendously well.
By definition the goal of boots is protection from the elements. So intentionally punching holes in boots not only shows a lack of understanding, it takes extra work to then have an unnecessary holes disposal problem.
You know, i understand they wanted to keep the aesthetic of the holes in the crocs look, but they could've just put a piece of the plastic that crocs are made of on the inside of the boot, so you could see the holes and theoretically use those garbage things to put in the holes but still make it so the boot was functional

I like regular Crocs because they are easy to rinse out if I gets stuff in them... but a boot version I do not want. I would rather wear boot liners and regular Crocs, so if I get anything in the holes then I can throw the liners in the washer and hose out the Crocs. Especially since their liner isn't waterproof.
I have regular crocs with a faux fur lining and no holes. There’s a back to the shoe, not just a strap. I have used them shoveling snow. They really work well! (Assuming you are careful enough not to fall on ice).
The only application I can see for these is as a camping booty, for around camp or when you need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I mean, there’s still many better options but hey they would be functional

You should do a teardown of a 2010 Crocs boot. It was way more durable and considered an actual boot. Super lightweight and perfect for the winter.

rain boots with wool socks work great for us. Just make sure you check socks for wetness and change as needed.

Buy some “shrimp boots” you can get 100% Eva foam boots that are basically like rubber boots but very light, comfortable, and easy to slip on

You're definitely not way off with these boots or the brand in general. I work with people that swear by Croc's due to the comfort, but they don't even work in restaurant settings due to hot water spillage and whatnot. I use a pair of lmockoff Blundstones that while held together with Shoe Goo due to cracked leather and are safer, more slip resistant in the environment, a dude burned his toes when hot oil hit his crocs. My main boot of choice is a pair of wonderful Redback's that have to fail me. Croc's are terrible in general and their winterboot as you said in the video is only for folks who want to look trendy. Frustratingly they could have just gone the route of Hunter and made a companion sock for the standard Croc. If they just made weatherproof insulated booties that fit into Crocs (which you could pull out and wash), I think they would sell well.
I don't know anything about the boots but Crocs work shoes are crazy. I had my first pair last 6 years and after cleaning them they still looked new I literally went out and bought a new pair because I just thought is was gross wearing shoes for that long lol there was really nothing wrong with them. Not to mention how comfortable I think they are, ugly as hell though. I will say it is so obvious what they did with these boots though they just took all the excess stock of all their old crocs probably all the ugly colors that never sell and just sewed a liner into them and called it a boot their was no RND or thought put into these it was just to get these millions of unsold shoes to finally be sold during the winter when their business drops off.
I dropped a pea in my lined crocs the other day and didn't even realize that it could get stuck that easily

You should do a review of Kodiak boots. They seem to be a decent budget Canadian boot company. My partner has had a pair for many years now and they have held up tremendously well.

By definition the goal of boots is protection from the elements. So intentionally punching holes in boots not only shows a lack of understanding, it takes extra work to then have an unnecessary holes disposal problem.

Easy to keep that same look by just making holes going only part way through.
You know, i understand they wanted to keep the aesthetic of the holes in the crocs look, but they could've just put a piece of the plastic that crocs are made of on the inside of the boot, so you could see the holes and theoretically use those garbage things to put in the holes but still make it so the boot was functional

I like regular Crocs because they are easy to rinse out if I gets stuff in them... but a boot version I do not want. I would rather wear boot liners and regular Crocs, so if I get anything in the holes then I can throw the liners in the washer and hose out the Crocs. Especially since their liner isn't waterproof.

I have regular crocs with a faux fur lining and no holes. There’s a back to the shoe, not just a strap. I have used them shoveling snow. They really work well! (Assuming you are careful enough not to fall on ice).
The only application I can see for these is as a camping booty, for around camp or when you need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I mean, there’s still many better options but hey they would be functional
