One big reason why there's racism against South Asian community in Canada recently is the massive inflow of International students majority of them from India. Most Canadian people think these new commers from India are rude because they lack in Canadian etiquette, like say thank you, hold door for someone and wave thank you if a motorist stops for them giving them priority crossing a road or parking lot. I have been living in Canada for last 24 years and I see this pretty much every day.

The problem is that students are bypassing the immigration process and manipulating it to gain permanent residency. If you are here on a student visa then complete your studies and leave. Also, yes, jobs should be given to the locals. Unfortunately, employers are hiring students at low pay.

it’s so important to blend in the culture of a country where we have moved in … i m not saying to forget the roots but respect the fact that people from other cultures exist too and ensure they are not disturbed…we stand in the queue for minutes together waiting for bus and some of us who turn up late at the bus stop, plainly ignore the fact that there have been people waiting before them; have the audacity to cut the line and board the bus… we gotta be more courteous, humbler and there is a need to show mutual respect and love around so the same is reverted too… great points raised sandy . peace!

I work with Canadians. I would say not all but many of them blame immigrants for all the problems, be it inflation, housing crisis.
They do not question the government about their policies but rather blame immigrants. I can feel their frustration but the person/authority responsible for this mess needs to be questioned which is the government in power.
Even in covid they bank of canada said this low rate of 1% is here to stay for long. And we all know what disaster is caused in the housing market. Now, same is the thing with immigration policy, many other countries whenever they feel immigration is too much, they put right polices in place, Canada could have done the same, now they not even bothered to re assess their policy but also brought refugees from war torn countries. These all ingredients were perfect for a country to go downhill.

The curry smell definitely lingers, It's because most Indians(mostly students) cook in the same clothes they wear outside. Indian tadka (oil vapors) penetrate clothes, and since Western homes often lack kitchen ventilation, the tadka goes into sofas, clothes, etc. When you wear those clothes outside, you end up smelling like curry. Indians can't tell this because we grow up with this smell and cannot distinguish it. When you add curry smell to sweat, it becomes very pungent. And some times curry smell with perfume becomes unbearable.
Non-Indians can often tell if there was an Indian in a meeting room, class room etc because the smell lingers. I am also of Indian descent and did research on this topic based on what I read on Reddit forums and what non-Indians have said. Non-Indians does not smell like food because their food most of the time does not involve tadka and spicy oil vapors. Spices are usually added later after the food is cooked. Also, Because of the curry smell non-indian has a perception that Indians do not take bath, they do not know the smell is actually coming from clothes.
You can avoid the curry smell in clothes by opening the windows while cooking and keeping outside clothes and kitchen clothes separate.

These 3rd class colleges/universities or diploma mills offering useless courses and resources can't let go of the inflow of billions of dollars in a fortnight, hence why you see this nonsense happening, the capable and deserving people are clearly not being favored in this system.

Unfortunately racism has been present in all times almost everywhere. It just needs to be minimized by learning empathy. It’s true that the influx of immigrants has been very significant in Canada. It comes with both its pros and cons. Personally I’ve been both embarrassed and upset with differ behaviours. One example is not paying attention to personal hygiene and getting on the public transit with strong body odour sad😮 Also, playing loud local music on phones, conversing in full volume on public transit, etc….cutting in lines, not saying excuse me, sorry or thank you. I’m sorry for pointing all these out, but my intent is to have us realize and amend mistakes.

This video is very precise and I am sorry to hear whatever had happened to you. This is true that the real Canada had always been racist, if you want to see the proof please visit Japanese cultural centres. There was a hate for Japanese and other asian immigrants from 1930s to 1990s. The reality is that not only white but black and brown people are also racists among them. People have stereotypes in Canada for students, Indians and all the other communities except European and most predominantly white countries. I have met people from all around asia who have faced racism in some form in Canada. However, mostly people are nice which constitute of around 90 percent people. I feel that most Indian people are also racist to our own people and they are not happy to get along with them. Comments also show this. STOP ASIAN HATE ❤

During my travels in Alberta and Ontario, I have noticed that there is indeed a rising unease among Candians (including desis) that there is too much of immigration. The backlash against Indians should not surprise us because it was building up for some years. Weak economic condition also played its part, but we desis also need to do some soul searching and improve our behaviour before it gets too late 😢😢😢

Sandy, u are 100% true. Thanks for exposing the truth. I am an indian, came in 1999 from RSA, but it was so different in Toronto. After retirement we moved to a more interior place where there were very few indians. The community welcomed us and we felt very comfortable here. But this year a lot of indian nurses came & one guy was telling that he had to wait 6 hrs in emergency & fought with the staff there. He shd have thought that his wife is working there & this will have a negetive impact on her. Today one elderly white man was telling he had to wait 8- 10 hrs. Its no use shouting at the system. Yes its frustrating. Now they hate 14:52 indians and think all indians are trouble makers. They say- u guys already messed up big cities, now u won't spare the small cities too. Yes we do smell cirry, which we do not realize. I remember while working, after an indian client or srilankan client comes to my office, i couldnt sit in that office due to cirry smell. Use to leave the office after leaving the fan on. Can i give u a smasl tip. Before dressing up to go out, spray some febreeze on the clothes & put it in the dryer for few minutes. This can take away the smell. Keep ur wardropes closed while cooking. Keep a vessel of viniger in the rooms to take away the smell. Dont hesotate to spend some money on fragrance candle or other products after vooking. Our indian curry sucks, when we go outside & we dont realize this.

In Canadians society trust is very important but because of migration specially from Indian subcontinent, there are lot of abnormal things happening and because of that, Locals are thinking that foreigners are doing against our culture but still they kept silence for years but now it’s been too much..

Really sorry to hear this. Basically a country can only be rich and offer a good quality of life if it has a moderate population which is educated and has good values. We Indians are around 1.4 billion in number and what that does is create a culture of hyper competitiveness among the people since there are too many people competing for limited resources and this creates an "anything goes" culture. When even a tiny % of these people migrate to another country, it is enough to overwhelm the resources of that country and to add to that we carry the same culture to those countries where it then stokes resentment. It is high time India does something to stop this population increase and even reduce it ( we are atleast 0.4 B too many ). Canada and particularly Trudeau is to be blamed for the present situation. Justin Trudeau actually tried using immigration as a tool of diplomacy to try and coerce India and the Modi government in particular. It didn't work at all and he ended up creating problems for Canada ..
