Hi Dan, I enjoyed your video as always. I had been struggling to decide if I wanted to get a gaming laptop or build a desktop gaming pc. This time around I went for a laptop for portability and also after seeing how the 13th gen gaming laptops have been doing. I ended getting the Asus G18 from Bestbuy with the Intel i9 13980hx and a rtx 4080. I only just picked it up earlier today so I haven't had time to do much at all after all the updates were done. I did do a first run on CInebench R23 and the laptop scored 31,838. This is without trying any undervolting, just setting the Asus Armory crate setting to Turbo and letting it run. So far things are looking good with this new laptop and it's a solid step up from my i7 8700 Omen build. The new laptops out this year are really stepping up their game and making them a more viable option as a portable desktop replacement. Like you said, upgrades are very limited in a laptop, but I think I can enjoy a couple of years with this and not worry about that.
Congrats on the new laptop! They have come such a long way in the past couple years and it’s crazy to see their progression! I really enjoyed using a gaming laptop while I had this one. I’m glad you are happy with your G18, looks like a great laptop 👍🏻
I have this laptop and it’s great ! Zero issues with mine and I play Warzone get about 90 fps on max settings I’m happy with it
Happy to hear feedback from an owner! I only got to use it for 2 months and then I sent it back to HP.
Got this couple of months back AMD R7 with 16GB and RTX3050Ti card. Solid gaming notebook with enough processing power to do video editing and so forth. I owned Legion Y530 Gaming and need to send back for repair x 3 times within 1 year, so moved out of Lenovo. If only they throw in the 1080p webcam that would be nice. This notebook will last couple of years and remember to extend the warranty period!
I appreciate your comment and glad to see an actual owner comment! I only had mine for about 2 months before I returned it to HP but I really enjoyed it. Very powerful for its size.
@@DanKamYouKnow Thank you for your review. The two Tempest cooling fan ran silently on the AMD R7. Solid built and obviously pricier than the budget Victus but well worth it.

Good video, I love HP OMEN 16, it is one of my favorites, but the screen is very flexible, it didn't suddenly become a problem, there is also the Lenovo Legion Slim, but I like the design of the HP better. I would like them to make the screen better quality and 300 nits seems very little to me, it should have more, it could be with the snowy gpu I could improve the temperatures and the screen in the nits more, but the construction quality of the screen would be missing

I really enjoyed it. I’m not used to laptops at all so it was interesting putting it thru it’s paces. No issues with the laptop at all, it was mainly getting used to using the track pad when I was using it. Gaming was also a bit strange because I place my keyboard far left when I game, so positioning my arm took some getting used to

Thank you for this great video ✨😊👍You mentioned it handles also games with 60 fps. Is this with a 60Hz setting or do you eventually know or could share if one can choose with the Omen 16 also instead of 165Hz only 60 Hz framerate? Because not all games do support more than 60Hz. Or is this always a matter of the laptop device and monitor or the Gpu which decides this setting?
Thanks! The panel is set to 165hz from the factory and in the video, I mention that it handled all games I tried from 60FPS to 110FPS, and this was at the highest settings at 1440p. Will be even more depending on game, resolution, and quality of settings.

Iv been trying to find this specific laptop for some time but i cant seem to find any with a nvidia rtx 3070 ti only ones in the 4000's and 3050's if i cant seem to find it what other graphics card do i want to look for instead?
The GPU being Max Q is a big deal breaker imo. These chips really can't handle the stress compared to their non Q counterparts
Appreciate that information. Why do you say that? This is my first experience with them. Is it longevity that’s the problem?
@@DanKamYouKnowActually Max Q is for longevity but less performance gain due to less power wattage allowed.
I bought one. And regarding battery life, I agree. But on the other hand, anyone with a gaming laptop that expects to get any real time on a battery is ridiculous. Power supply for gaming, battery for school work. I get a great few hours with no issues on battery-only when I’m doing “desktop work”.
Happy to hear! I unfortunately got to use this laptop for 2 months and then had to return it to HP. Seems like all gaming laptops have to be tethered to the power brick, which I guess is fine.
