As someone that is legally blind, without glasses I can still see the world around me, but everything is just distorted. Nothing comes out clear. People look just like ovals. Everything else just looks like something is there, it’s like looking into a steamy bathroom mirror and looking into it.
Sounds like severe astigmatism. I have this same blindness type. Except it's not as bad as it was when I was a young child. Where I could only see blury shapes, colors, and shadows. I wore thick glasses growing up. I'm supposed to still wear glasses, but I rarely wear them now. Although I can see great with them on, I run into stuff and trip more when wearing them. I've done gotten so used to having blurry vision that I've learned to navigate better without the glasses. For over 20 years I couldn't afford to get anymore glasses due to insurance issues. So I went back to the way of living before I ever got glasses. I know my way around better without them than wearing them
You mean that's blurr blindness. My twin brother has it everything is sooooooooo blurry. His glasses are only blur-seen. I have a way to blur my eyes but it's very hard to stay on it for more than a minute. When I blur my eye everything on the glasses are like a 360 camera. But when I stop. The glasses get so blurry. Pray for those blind people and I hope that they find a cure for it

I’m going through some vision loss right now due to a detached retina in my right eye. I got hit by a firework 28 years ago and lost peripheral vision. I adjusted to what sight I had after the injury. Blurred, like looking through milk, flashes and glowing floaters. I went through a gas exchange and laser surgery last week and have to keep the bubble at the top of my eye by constant looking down. I didn’t recognize the signs of increasing intraoccqular pressure and that caused my retina to detach. I am weeks away from any clearing of vitreous fluid to know what vision may have been saved. I am thankful I was able to get treatment fast. Luckily, the specialists have an emergency line to expedite folks into the dr office when they experience eye emergencies.
@@nonyab5640 yes, left wasn’t affected with the initial injury, but discovered a small retina detachment upon the latest right eye issue. It got a zap with the laser the same day. Vision in my right eye currently is clearing a little bit, it’s now like looking through tears if you were really crying it out or a ball half full of murky water sloshing. It’s picking up light but very distorted, vertical like streaks of light. I have hopes that it will get better because if I bring something up within 2 inches of my face i can recognize some images and read large fonts. I am finding it easier to keep it open for longer when I am still. I can see the gas bubble and fluid in my eye move when I move and it can mess with my balance and make me a little nauseous.
A favorite youtube creator of mine, from England as well talked about a guy he used to know everyone called Blind Paul. He was of 3 blind students at his university at the time and one of the things that has stuck in my memory was a story he told about talking to Paul he asked him "so, what exactly do you see? Is it just all black like darkness" and he said "No, I don't see anything" which is really just hard for me to imagine.
Surely it’s black??! How can you see nothing? Unless your an animal that doesn’t have eyes. If you’re an animal that is supposed to see then blindness would make it black, right?
I practice with my eyes closed walking around outside, since I was young. I use smell, touch and sound to navigate. I know one day I may not be able to see. I haven't practiced cooking with my eyes closed yet.
You are so lovely I showed my grandma some of your vids and she says that you are such a sweetie and you are a great example of how the word should be... I love you so much❤️❤️❤️
I got to volunteer at a preschool of blind children and it was the most wonderful experience ever. I learned about different types of being blind, and got to simulate being blind as well. It doesn't sound good but I had a blast. Being blind is a horrible thing but is also a blessing. Your content is great keep it up :)
My mom works for a kid who is blind and he is smart just like you. I also help her out with the blind kid if I have to. It's tough being blind but I will always help a person.
Makes me relise that despite all my problems, I can be grateful to God that I at least have my sight. I think being blind would be the worst thing ever. What a beautiful brave lady this lady is for coming on her videos and sharing with us
Oh my, same. I did not think it would be completely dark but I was not sure. I thought that it would be so scary for me to just see darkness (I was younger at the time and scared of the dark )
This is honestly fascinating. I know it’s different for everyone but I feel like it can be an insensitive question to ask but I have no malice in my curiosity, just trying to learn and understand best I can. Thank you for sharing this.
It’s very hard for us to understand what it is like since most of us have good eye sight. I wish I understood what it is like more so I could relate Lucy! It makes me grateful for my sight, but you seem to have everything figured out :)
Thats so cool! My step-grandfather is also blind, but he lost his vision when he was about 9. He describes being blind like having your eyes closed. Because with his he can still detect the light around him and the brightest of it!
Agree my right eye is very blurry... My left I see a fog sometimes I can see light. I don't know what I would do if I could actually see things clearly like I used to. I really enjoy your videos because it's helping me since a year ago I became completely blind and had to go to the doctors to try to get at least some site back in my right eye but it has been a really depressing thing to learn how to do and there's not much out there I can learn from so this has helped me a lot.
That representation is exactly what I see when closing my eyes and I'm not blind. A busier day triggers more flash activity. I guess it's related to impulses from optic nerve, for blind people, eyes are not functional but optic nerve and brain terminations could produce that flashes as well as for non blind people.
I'm sitting here self loathing because I'm too lazy to lose weight, when I need to be thankful I have the ability to better myself. I've watched a lot of her videos. This woman is amazing and not wallowing in self pity. Truly inspiring.
I love how you say it's a spectrum, I'm on the autism spectrum. I have aspergers witch is considered to be on the higher functioning side of the spectrum. Lots of disabilities are like this and I think this video sums it up perfectly.
It’s amazing that this video lets sighted people sort of see how you and other blind folks experience the world🥰 thank you very much for sharing Lucy! Xx
For people who are completely blind, it's like when you close/cover 1 eye. You can't see anything out of it. For people who are completely blind, it's like that, but both eyes.
@@winters-ghost89 That's what I said... When you cover/close just one eye, you see nothing out of it. Not black, nothing. Complete blindness is like that but both eyes see nothing.

I feel your pain. Because once I was getting my eyes tested and they had to put eye drops in my eye and they said I would be blind for day. And I don’t know what it was for but yeah idk what to say anymore 🙃
I have a friend that is blind and he told me that he saw nothing. He said to me “ try to see what’s behind you without turning your head”. That’s the most accurate way he could describe it to me
I admire you,I can't imagine what it is like for you to never be able to look your loved ones in the eyes, people with disabilities seem to be some of the strongest♥ I don't have the best eyesight and I will likely end up not being able to see much in my 20s, but I'm grateful that i can see at least the outlines of things ❤
Thank you so much for answering this question. Ever since I was 4, I have had this question of what do blind people see; thanks to you, I finally have a summary!
We love you Lucy 💞 no matter what. and you give us a glimpse of what an ordinary blind persons life looks like and I didn't even know some blind people can see some lights

Makes me relise that despite all my problems, I can be grateful to God that I at least have my sight. I think being blind would be the worst thing ever. What a beautiful brave lady this lady is for coming on her videos and sharing with us
You are one of a kind, Lucy!! ❤️
I was actually wondering this for a long time
Oh my, same. I did not think it would be completely dark but I was not sure. I thought that it would be so scary for me to just see darkness (I was younger at the time and scared of the dark )
Hi elizabeth 😟
Ik me to
your accent and voice is so soothing ❤
What an amazing and beautiful woman.
@Jonathan Storey Married with 4 kids. No chance of being lonely for me.
Back to the time when i was younger i used to think blind people could still see but just see gray and white 😭
I’m not the only one!
Isn’t that color blind? Ig it’s close
Yeah that’s color blind ✋😭
@@Natalietalkstoomuch yeah but
Color blindness is only being able to see green, yellow, blue and grey
@@carina_wina7501 yeah but
Color blindness is only being able to see green, yellow, blue and grey
That's so cool! I've always wondered how blind people see the world.
Thanks for the heart!
This is honestly fascinating. I know it’s different for everyone but I feel like it can be an insensitive question to ask but I have no malice in my curiosity, just trying to learn and understand best I can. Thank you for sharing this.
You are beautiful. And thank you for sharing this so we have idea. ❤
It’s very hard for us to understand what it is like since most of us have good eye sight. I wish I understood what it is like more so I could relate Lucy! It makes me grateful for my sight, but you seem to have everything figured out :)
And some people out there have eyes but see only darkness.
I’m being serious here. She deserves a crown. I can’t even imagine what she goes through, but she’s a real queen.
Shorts are so entertaining, I could watch them for hours!
These shorts are already better than your comments
Omg you just answered all my questions, you have made me so grateful for my eyes thank you
I'm absolutely blessed that I have eye sight sometimes the little things u forget about
I'm sitting here self loathing because I'm too lazy to lose weight, when I need to be thankful I have the ability to better myself.
Looks very interesting! Thanks Lucy!
I think that it's like when you close both eyes and don't focus on what you are seeing.
Both of them are completely blind?
Wrong when we close our eyes we see black blind people true blind people don't even see that they see nothing
@@winters-ghost89 That's what I said... When you cover/close just one eye, you see nothing out of it. Not black, nothing. Complete blindness is like that but both eyes see nothing.
@@abfarrow3596 no ur wrong our brains can't understand but we don't see nothing when we close are eyes we see all back they see nothing not even the black
I feel your pain. Because once I was getting my eyes tested and they had to put eye drops in my eye and they said I would be blind for day. And I don’t know what it was for but yeah idk what to say anymore 🙃
god bless u u are one of the nicest and pure heart souls i have ever heard of

I have a friend that is blind and he told me that he saw nothing.
He said to me “ try to see what’s behind you without turning your head”.
That’s the most accurate way he could describe it to me
But then you still just see what's in front of you
@@GlitterGum no. Read my comment again and think a bit
@@chichorito3332 I did, and if you try to do that you'll just see what's in front of you
@@GlitterGum you’re not getting the meaning.
@@FightingIncorrectStereotypes yeah I'm really not lol it just makes no sense to me
I admire you,I can't imagine what it is like for you to never be able to look your loved ones in the eyes, people with disabilities seem to be some of the strongest♥
I don't have the best eyesight and I will likely end up not being able to see much in my 20s, but I'm grateful that i can see at least the outlines of things ❤

God bless you abundantly with love peace and harmony. Take care and stay safe 😇
This makes me grateful
THIS ANSWERS SO MANY QUESTIONS
It's so nice to see her not losing her will to live. I love you girl, keep going .
I always complain about menial things but watching her videos makes me appreciate the most basic things in my life like the fact that I can see even if I can’t see 2 feet in front of me without my glasses, at least I can see.
'a dark cloud always has a silver lining'
why does this phrase match the clip in the video so well?
Oo my god i feel scared just thinking of seeing that only..I just I can't i don't have words every person in my life I met who are blind have such a positive attitude towards life where i sitting cursing my life. Salute to u babes your so beautiful your smile is just priceless...i don't have words......🥺❤️
My sister’s friend Hannah was about to go completely blind but she managed to get her eyes operated on and the day after she saw the stars for the first time. Truly beautiful.
That visual representation feels kind off soothing in a way
This makes me feel grateful, but not to be mean or or anything. How do you record videos?
I always said that I would much rather be deaf than blind...i just can't imagine the thought of being blind....may God bless them all 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
My grandma is partially blind and I help her all the time. Lucy, you're so inspiring
Thank you, I have actually wondered what (completely) blind people see. Although you can’t see, your amazing and an excellent role model
THANK YOU! I'VE been wondering this My whole life!
Thank you for educating us
Honestly if i was blind i would not want to live. So respect for you👏
Don't worry Budd science is trying to and almost successful in making eye similar to that and they can see the world but not 100 percent but 70 percent can bring a huge amount of joy
