Jimmy Page, John Bonham, Robert Plant , & John Paul Jones are by far the greatest super group that's ever existed. These guys were collage age young men when they did were doing this. 16 to 30 predominantly,1968 to 80. John Bonham tops most any list as greatest drummer of all time. Jimmy Page tops the list or at least top 3 of every list of greatest guitart of all time. Though page was the owner & founder of the group. Producer. The leader & it was his whole vision that designed them. Robert Plant is always in a top 5 bracket of greatest rock vocalist of all time. Jones always a top 5 or top 10 rock bassist of all time. No other band has a line up of the most elite all in one. The fact most of the greatest of their catalog of songs were recorded in Hedley Grange, Jimmy's Home he purchased in the country. They band is the second greatest selling rock band of all time. 5th greatest selling artists of all time with 112 Million albums america, 300 plus world wide. And the fact they never released singles & only produced 8 albums in 11 years. Jimmy Page & John Paul Jones mixing & producing all their material. Them writing all their material. Jimmy Page vision to recreate the Yardbirds as a super group to take over the world is nothing like it. Knowing Jimmy their is a great movie in the works. Their had not never will be another group even close.

Watching the smile come across your friend's face is just nothing but delightful. And I can't even remember the first time I heard this, it would have been in grade school but I've heard it so many hundreds of times that I don't remember. But it was so incredibly popular through Grade School junior high high school and into college. It had a longevity to it and then at that age I started playing in a post punk band and I was more involved in like Punk and Post Punk and rockabilly type stuff in terms of music. But you know what, 15 years later, you can turn on a classic rock station and you're going to hear Stairway to Heaven you're going to hear it it's guaranteed, laugh. And I never get tired of it. Just right now listening to it I always pick up new slight details.
And actually I don't know either of your name so I will just call you rapper friend, but rapper friend, John Bonham as your friend said, is regarded as one of the greatest drummers in rock and roll. And really he could hold his own in the Jazz world as well. He died way too early and it ended Led Zeppelin sadly. He was known for hitting really hard but he was just so incredible and he played hand drums he could play his whole drum set with just his hands he can play tablas, you know the Indian hand drums.
But what I thought was interesting about maybe approaching it from a hip hop point of view is the beat. And did you know that some of his drum beats have been sampled heavily in hip hop? You guys should check out When the Levee Breaks from this exact same album as Stairway to heaven. It's based on a really old blues song but they give it their own complete treatment and it is mesmerizing. It is also considered a masterpiece. But John Bonham's slow deliberate drum part in there which goes crazy with fills at the end. That one in particular has been sampled and used in rap music a fair amount.

I still have my original 1971 fourth Led Zeppelin album (from which this song comes) and I still have a record player and still play it.
Led Zeppelin had already produced stunning music, but this seemed to lift things to a higher level.
One of you (the Rapper) mentioned how good the guitars sounded. In that era, every rock band worth it's salt had a superb lead guitarist. Led Zeppelin had Jimmy Page, Deep Purple had Ritchie Blackmore , Pink Floyd had David Gilmore, The Who had Pete Townsend, Queen had Brian May, UFO had Michael Schenker, Uriah Heep had Mick Box, The Rolling Stones had Keith Richards, Black Sabbath had Tony Iommi, etc.
Anyway, thanks for the video. Your reactions took me back to another time.
