In this installment from Red Head Garage, we're diving headfirst into the restoration of Josh's 1985 Pontiac Fiero. Join us as we breathe new life into this neglected and often forgotten gem.
Left to gather dust for years, this buried treasure is finally receiving the attention it deserves.
Witness as we unearth the Pontiac Fiero, buried beneath layers of clutter in our garage. Follow our meticulous journey as we diagnose and repair electrical issues, aiming to bring this car back to life and onto the open road once more!
Unfortunately, our journey isn't as simple as just a new battery, tires, and a wash. Spoiler Alert: The fuel tank in this Fiero is riddled with rust, and since replacements are no longer available, we're compelled to restore it ourselves. Join us as we go through the struggles of removing the Fieros fuel tank and repairing the rust that is inside.
But that's not all - in addition to a faulty fuel pump and rusted tank, we're also tackling various electrical issues and other common problems associated with a long-neglected vehicle. We estimate it's been over a decade since this car last roared to life, and wouldn't be surprised if it's been even longer.
Before it came into our possession four years ago, the Fiero languished in a field with deflated tires and sitting on it's frame. The previous owners claimed it was purchased from a junkyard as a parts car, but it never saw any action.

this is going to be a fun watch. Keep it on schedule. Not every two months or so.
To be honest it may be a while until we do another video on it. Now that it is running not sure what else we can do on camera with it. We are taking suggestions on possible directions we can take with it though.
Yea Ronald Finger (Yes that's his real name lol) had the exact same NIGHTMARE! I think he went through four tanks before he finally found a solution. Every tank either had holes already or after soaking them with some rust remover etc they developed pin hole gas leaks. They were all worn so thin.
1984 did not have the V6
watch Boomtastic Racing and put a front engine 400 small block with a blower on it. Eric brought is car from Alabama to our house in Alton Illinois. He started that thing up and it sounded like a rocket ship taking off in my driveway.

wow that is a rusted fuel tank. Start by changing that.
After the work we done to the one in it we will probably keep it. Por15 the outside so hoping that prevents rust for a while longer. They also are not making new ones at the moment, I think they are restarting production in the tanks again soon though.
change that tank. It is going to end up with pin holes in it.

that was the 84 Fiero 4 cylinder that ran the fuel line over the exhaust system.
This is a v6 so it is not a 1984
