- I had such a great time streaming the Sims 3 Island Paradise... so much fun and many things to do, but how to the builds in Isla Paradiso compare to what we've seen thus far?

building in the sims 3 is far more tedious than what we are used to in the sims 4, so I decided instead to rate and judge every house that the EA developers built instead of building new ones myself

I love that most houses keep it to 3 colours that match. Unlike some worlds they crank up the patterns on patterns with 6 clashing colors.
I love how I don't speak ANY spanish, but I knew what those meant just through osmosis lol
You make a VERY good point about the pattern thing... SV has them everywhere but most of these houses was a very subtle or flat texture and it was a welcome change

Isla Paradiso is probably the best looking ~expansion pack world~ in The Sims 3, imo.

@@Rekowcski can you put windows in a basement of a house boat? If you can that could look great, your sim can see the bottom of the sea.
This was a joy to look at! This is one of my FAV packs! When I was visiting my family in St. Croix, the houses were bright beautiful colors like in the video (but just one color) so that was really spot on. And I don't think you are mean-spirited, just mischievous like I am lol! I know my people! Great video as always!

To bad Fantasea is a routing nightmare 😭 the guy always gets stuck somewhere and I have to reset him. Same with the castle. Bad routing runs in the family, I guess.
If you notice i mentioned that I thought it might have a routing issue ... but my goodness what a creative shape! My houseboat is so ugly lol
That's not the issue with that house, it's the port.
Isla Paradiso is my favorite world in Sims 3 and I love it, always playing in it...

I believe the ghosts are the Dregg family. Edward Dregg also appears in TS2 Bon Voyage and The Sims Castaway Stories as the Ghost Captain from the pirate ship! I think their family description even mentions Twikki Island!

This is my favorite EP and I’m so glad we have the ability to make it run smooth. Everyone hated this EP because of the instability but it’s so gorgeous. Reminds me of the first time I played Bon Voyage. I love the world, I love the houseboats, and I love the underwater exploration ❤️ Really looking forward to this video!!!

How many people here had no idea that you could build in the basement of a houseboat? I had no idea. OMG, can you add windows to see into the sea? I know it's a basement but since it isn't in the ground it would be so cool if you could add windows.
You are not the first to comment this! I was super surprised, I assumed a house boat was flat at the bottom, but i guess i didnt consider physics
Love these videos, I never play townie household's and I prefer to build my own, I think I only played in the cheapest houseboat when I first got IP. Its lovely to have a nosy at every other house in world
You and I play the exact same way... even in my favourite worlds I didn't recognize 95% of what I saw during the reviews. But I know lot's of people love these houses, so we get to explore them and others get nostalgia!

"So this is a really good time to metion I do not speak Spanish" Says after pronouncing Castillo D'ichitacha which is actually Italian. As a Spanish person, that part got me crackling 😂
Here's a tip, Word's that start like D'Ichitacha ( with D') are a clear sign that's not Spanish. This is common in Italian and Catalan but very rarely exist in the Spanish language anymore. We don't use that, like it doesn't exist.
But don't worry though it was a lot fun, you did your best, loved the video! 💞😊
this exact same thing happened, someone said something else was Portuguese so I mix those up as well :x

I got a mod to help with the house boats and deleted the scott family/house and it ran pretty good... but before that it was a mess lol

What I really appreciate is the fact that you judge houses not only in terms of appearance but also playability.
A lot of builders just make sure the houses look nice and when you really try to play in them you get all kinds of problems with sims getting stuck.
Thanks for that! I am often playing poor sims, or big families (or both) so floor plan is super important for me to get my sims where they need to be

"A Modern folly" is known to cause lagging issues cause of the garage door leading right in front to a pool ladder. remove the ladder and reset the frondoor will help lag issues!
Also the "Castillo" lot has issues with the door, I always completely bulldoze the lot, it cause issues.

Personally, I always have such a hard time doing the floor plan for mansions.
It always end up wonky with weird rooms. But this is the Sims team building mansions so you'd expect more competence...
I love this video, your voice is so soothing and your judging the builds is really entertaining! I'd never get this EP because my computer can't handle it, but the world is really beautiful.

Awesome video as always, loved the reviews! Just some quick fun facts, I used to go on trips with my parents to the Caribbean (mainly St. Martin/St. Maarten, the Bahamas) and the super colorful houses are actually customary to these countries. For once, EA used color quite accurately! I also believe the 'FantaSea' house boat was modeled to resemble an airplane from above with the cockpit and wings flaring out. I think I remember hearing about that a long time ago when this pack was released.

Best world, with actual challenges and adventures within game. However, I've been playing this world for nearly 6 months now, and suddenly my Sims have stopped aging altogether.
This is the third time this has happened to me. I've put a LOT of work into it. By the way, Atlantis houseboat can be beautifully renovated and enhanced with minimal effort. It's actually been one of my favorites to play on.
But I'm so upset about my current existing game since the aging supposedly stopped working. 😩
Love the video! But, for the Holiday House, you called the layout practical... however, you either have to go through 1 bedroom, and a jack and jill bathroom to get to the 2nd bedroom... or go outside to access it from the deck. I am not sure I'd call that practical! ;) I guess from a Sim's perspective, it's okay.
In real life that would drive me nuts I guess I didn’t see that. I do agree with you, but some EA builds have much more ridiculous choices heh
Oh wow, this is gonna be a trip. This map is genuinely the worst in the game I’d say, it’s beautiful and would be lovely but every lot is badly designed, almost every single lot with a spiral staircase has it placed backwards, locking the at least one floor away and trapping certain Sims while causing a million routing errors as they don’t see the staircase as being backwards and will try to climb it. There’s also houses missing doors, or having the front door in the wrong place, and one of them uses a ladder as the only entrance, but it’s placed backwards and causes routing errors, and any visitor will get super confused and cause errors as there’s no front door. The house boats are also not all docked at the start, causing yet more lag, and in many of them Sims can’t find the way into some rooms and they also can’t access the wheel in some of them, even leaving the boats trapped once they decide to undock as they can’t use the wheel to arrive somewhere else.
There are a few mods that specifically help with the house boats staying still, and general smoothness for this pack/world. I recommend checking out this video by my friend

This is the best world and houses are actually really good. Never have any problems playing except for some lag, which I expect, when going underwater to scuba.

Oh god I forgot about those.... one of the ugliest houses I’ve seen is just outside of saulte ste Marie... imagine someone wanting to make a San Francisco Victorian house but they only had access to Walmart and $500

Rekowcski, have you thought about making a video where you judge or roast builds made by other people (normal Sims 3 users or other content creators)? I don't know if it would work as a video, but it would be really fun to watch in my opinion.
I have gotten this request before.. I need to do a specific challenge to make it into a digestible video though, im thinking maybe an "EA Style Build Challenge" or I choose a gross EA build from base game and everyone can try to make it into something I would enjoy... I think I have made enough of these videos to make it clear what I like haha

My favourite sims 3 (EA) world tbh. As an island boy, it reminds me so much of parts of my country and I too am enjoying the Neon Colours.

my fav lot is actually lone artist/adobe adobe, cause i can always sheek the place up and its perfect for a renovation or a remodelling and i always adopt a child for magarita so she isnt too lonely

I don't know if it got fixed, but I remember a youtuber I watched struggled SO hard to enter in the castle mansion because the main door was locked behind an arch. And apparently that causes a sort of bug that doesn't let you in. A lot of these houses have that so I'd be wary about it, altough it totally could have been fixed already and I'm just rambling
I downloaded a fixed version of Isla Paradiso and I think it addresses this problem, however if you just use the EA one you're right. There are several lots with problems like that
I am binge watching all of your Sims 3 Houses reviews and having a blast! Never looked at this game architecture in so many detail like you are doing in these series and it's so fun 💚

at the very least, I recommend you have "Overwatch" and "Error Trap" installed, and get the mod that makes it so the houseboats can't be driven around by townies... oh and delete the scott family and their houseboat and have fun! x

i wish isla paradiso was less laggy and bug ridden because it could be literally the best world in the sims 3 but of course you can't just play it without a whole ritual of fixing ea's messes. also loving holly alto seems to be a near universal gay experience

Okay so on one house you noticed the only stairs to the upper level being outside then gave an 8 to the salmon exterior house but all I can think is if you are having dinner or watching a movie downstairs and it is storming outside to get to the bedroom you have to go outside.
There's a few houses with this same problem in other worlds. In Monte Vista, most houses only have dining areas outside, and even sunset Valley has a house where you need to go outside to get to the bedroom

The house names are pretty Spanish 101 aside from the Castillo (castle) they're basically "Sun House" and "Little Blue House"
Yes that makes sense, I was familiar with some words and as I mentioned, I am very unfamiliar with the languages. Here in Canada we have French in the places the USA has Spanish (food packaging, brand names, street signs etc)

I have a question..I used to have sims 4 on my laptop and it was running smoothly, now I want to delete it and download sims 3, which one is heavier sims 4 or sims 3? Like will my laptop run sims 3 smoothly with all the packs just like sims 4?
Sims 3 is not well optimized, but I have a video where you can follow along and make it run smooth “the sims 3 runs smooth and lag free now”. I experience very few problems... there are even fixes for island paradise specifically to run better (acottonsock has a great video for that)
This is a bit random but do you know how to unregister a game because I need to do that to be able to register it to my new account and be able to upload things. It also won't let me log into my old account in game. Do you know if I can fix it without having to buy a new game?
Another simmer I know had this problem and i don't think you can "unregister" anything from EA unfortunately.. you may be able to access your old account though. I suggest talking to customer service (they helped me refund something once and it was alright)
I will say that there is currently a sale on Origin so ALL EPS ARE $10 ... so if you HAVE to rebuy, this is the time to at least scoop up the essential packs

this is a popular opinion... i didn't realize it has such a following. My favourite is Ambitions, but this thing is wayyyy better than I ever imagined
@@Rekowcski I wish their was a way for me to play it lag free on my Mac. Supernatural is also a top favourite and I have never bought ambitions however it does look like a fun expansion! Truly wish the sims 5 is better than the sims 4 and has actual effort put into it.

The family in Colonial Casa having 17,000 simoleons but nothing to do 😭😭
Not so much in base games worlds, but I dlc / store worlds, some sims have a ridiculous amount of simoleons
This world is really beautiful and happy, a happy place to live, in my imagination smells like coconut, pineapples and sweet flower haha i am weird.

Smells are inherently linked to our memories so that sounds just great haha. I’m looking forward to see if we get something even nicer in the next episode

I’m not familiar with houseboats irl, but from my 10 mins of google research I never saw something as dangerous as this. I see lots of styles but nothing that looked like it was about to rip over haha

isla paradiso is a very beautiful world!! the buildings have the right amount of brown and colors and the resorts are so much fun! plus the sims are soooo full of drama lmao
