- This is something I've been wondering myself since the game came out and got its less than stellar reception, so I took advantage of a free weekend and EA Play to try and get to the bottom of it.

IKR just because its fun doesn't mean its a good game
Downloaded it as a break from warzone, waited in a lobby for 20 minutes and went back to warzone ...... a 120 hz cross play modern warfare buried this game so deep its insanity! But tbh I grew up with battlefield and they were unrivaled, COD was a single player title and counter strike was a different genre!
What happened?
EA happened the same company that sells you a graphics update on fifa every year tried their "magic" on battlefield and the result is a game no one plays not even when it's free but no worries, Sony will remake battlefield 2 from 15 years ago with a good old graphics update 😅 because story lines and playability require brain cells

@@hx20games77 This is exactly the point that most people down in the comments don't get. Is it fun? Yes. Is that all that matters in a game? Well if it is to you then that's awesome, all the more power to you.
I however believe that media needs to be held to certain standards, and if videogames nowadays wanna cost 79.99 and have ingame stores and regular paid content drops, I do not think it is an INSANE idea to ask them to at least be as good as the previous games in the same franchise.
I had a lot of fun playing this game, I had A LOT more fun than I did with something like Red Dead Redemption 2. Would I say this is better? Not in a 100 million years! Videogames are a form of media that is way past "is it fun?" at this point and I think we should keep that in mind when making our criticisms and more importantly, our purchases.
FINALLY. someone brings up the movement. It's so liquidy. Like you're running on ice and there's no weight to your character. The guns feel like you're shooting bb's. Literally when you kill someone it's like you're shooting a laser pointer at him and his health goes down. And levolution... The fact that they removed it just feels like a battlefield knockoff that you buy on steam early access made on UR4
That's my problem. I want to try it again, but I'm afraid I'm still going to hate the gunplay and movement.
Also marksman rifles are incredibly inaccurate. It’s not the bloom. You can have your bipod and sit on an enemy but still somehow manage to miss. Otherwise the bloom itself is ridiculous. I’ve been playing it for the last couple of weeks. I don’t mind playing against the bots but the type of stupid shit people can get up to with specialist is something else
I play Airsoft, and the bullets in 2042 look and feel weaker than a plastic ball.

Man I miss those days of BF3 and BF4 where by the end of a match the level barley resemble itself from the start of a match. Everyone thing leveled to the ground and "levelution" ❤️

I loved that video, I always come back every now and then on Battlefield just for good laughs so I totally get your enjoyment haha.
To be fair, the big matches do look really impressive and good to see the developer keep fixing the issues, rather than just be like "meh it will do". Hopefully future titles will learn from the mistakes of this one. Also, that DNA joke was just perfect!

Couldn't agree more with your points especially about the music like DICE execs must have looked at Hildur and be like yeah do the thing that you did in the Chernobyl series (which was using sounds from a nuclear reactor to make music and sounds which worked). And this was what influenced the battlefield 2042 score as its sound effects and noises from in game were made into music which does not work in the slightest for a bf game.
Playing this game made me reinstall BF4 again.
I wish I could say that all of the time I spent playing BF4 last month was solely to get footage for the video...but yea, I can't.

Bf4 was way worse than bf2042 at launch and that’s facts everyone hated it if you don’t remember took almost 3years to get it where it at right now bf4 is cool but the movement is so much better on 2042

the quality from BF5 to 2042 is mind blowing, BF 2042 looks and feels like a arcade game, vs the gritty feel and weight of BF5. Also i still feel like hardline is the worse.
Hardline still has the crown for the most questionable release in the BF series, idk why they released it when BF4 was kicking at its highest at the time and still receiving content.

I agree with your point on the graphics. The game certainly doesn't look "bad", but its really nothing to call home about. If you told me the game came out in 2015 I would believe you based solely on how it looks.
Looks really good now! Everything works just fine on Series X. Unfortunately the new specialist seems to lag the servers

To be fair, a ton of issues have been addressed just in the past few months, it might be worth revisiting this toping as this game has really come into it's own, I've put in about 250 hours in the last 4 months and the game just keeps getting better with every update.
I started playing due to it being free on ps plus, and all I can say is the experience was very good, although it really lacks destruction, explosion, and behemoth.

i am having some issues but most are related to the map size being a bit big for only 64 player

This is the first battlefield game and the first FPS game i've played since MW2 on the 360. Tried it because it's free on EA play and honestly i'm having fun playing it so far. Also playing on PC and have not experienced most of the bugs you mentioned (maybe it has been fixed recently?). Still come across some minor in game bugs pretty often. But the game breaking ones have only happened to me a couple times.

I almost bought 2042 on ps5 for $20 during the Christmas sale. I'm glad I didn't because they're giving it away for free this month.
It was bad at launch, but right now its reaching what a standard, triple A game is.

Everytime i get the jungle map the ground is always invisible with just players and houses showing up. Try making your way through an invisible jungle😢

Im close to 130 hours and I've never had any of the issues (I'm on pc). I max out all settings and Its actually quite smooth for me. The movement is quite fluid aswell. Not sure why people keep shitting on this game for every reason they can find.
Matchmaking is also usually pretty quickly. My main gripes would be it just needs more content. More guns, maps etc.
Feel the same as you. Never had any issue on PC. My main issue with matchmaking is that most of the time I join games that are almost over. Also I can't agree with his opinion on the music, I absolutely loved season 3's menu music.

Im on PS5 and I have huge problems with inputdelays. I have fast internet, high sensitivity and no such problems in other games. It ruins a lot if gunfights for me.
Not to mention that the game HAVE a server list... He's just level 12 in the footages, he's clearly don't know what he's saying.
I bought the EA game pass or whatever it's called for 30 bucks for the year. Jumped on BF1 and then decided to try out 2042 again after trying out the beta, which was awful. I can say I actually had fun. It felt good to play a modern battlefield again. Good video mate.

Regarding most of the jank you experienced...It could be down to your machine specs. I run a 12600k and a 3080. I've never experienced any of the things you mentioned....the only jank I have experienced was falling through the map a couple of times in the really early days after release.
Most people that tend to have heaps of issues end up either being on low end systems....or amd based systems....Nothing against AMD processors and gpus...im a diehard ati fanboy from the radeon HD series gpus and the athlon 2 era...BUT...i have personally noticed more often than not, when people tend to be experiencing many problems, they are either running amd based systems....or they are on systems that dont exceed reccomended specs.....just a thought.

The 30 round one still looks the same. It is based on the SCAR H and the mag is a standard 20 round STANAG of 7.62x51mm which should hold only 20

As someone who started on PC playing BF1942, I am finally enjoying myself again since BF4. I didn't care for BF1, and I thought BF5 was MEH. I enjoy the majority of different functions each class can do.. Weapon versatility, SOLO vs AI, 128 player Conquest is pretty cool. Enjoying myself so far.
Still think the ac9 needs a slight nerf to its ttk at range. But other than that I have no complaints on game function.
But I would love more weather effected maps. Like a deep forest map that has mud that slows tanks, and the forest is on fire. And the fire gets worse the longer the fight goes on.
A city in complete ruin. I mean towers leaning on one another and are literally crumbling and need that final push before total collapse.
A map where the map is effect periodically by a earth quake that leads to underground warfare for a lab made by rebels making bio weapons.
And a flood map.
Just maps that are more effected by weather
Nicely done, I agree on most if not all points. Theme song from season 3 is finally over, that Kanye meme was perfect. But the game is fun at least and slowly getting better.

Got this game for free, friended gifted me it on steam, played open beta, launch. Quit playing after the 4th week cause of lack of content and the same maps over and over. Despite the bugs the game had at launch I’d say I had a blast playing this with friends SOFLAM, rocket spamming was just too fun lol. 2 years later now I reinstalled this game a week ago and its been improved a whole ton. Find myself doing well every match I play, and just enjoying myself.

Graphics honestly look like an F2P MMORPG especially coming from CoD MW2 and I understand that it may be due to the enlarged player count but warzone still have 100 players on a enormous map
I've tried playing it several times and always uninstall it after a few hours. I don't think the game is necessarily bad but it feels like I've played the same game for the last decade. There isn't enough innovation to keep this feeling like every other battlefield, if anything they've removed features from previous games and I think that Dice aren't very good at level design. As someone who has been a fan since BF2 I think I'm just bored of this franchise now.
Since you mentioned it, I've never been 100% with how they've approximated human movement :

I like 2042 now. I went back to bf4 for awhile, but honestly with 2042 out I prefer it. BFV on the other hand was extremely underrated. It still has the best movement in an online fps and is buttery smooth and I like fortifications. Why the hell didn't they just use BFV and put it in the year 2042? Would have been amazing

People didn't like BF5 because of the weapon recoil. It took a lot of burst fire with most every weapon in the game to actually hold a good KD. I think BF5 was best BF up until 2042. You have to give the nerds their spray and pray weapons and no recoil weapons the days. "It's Too Hard" 😭😪😭😂😂
@@mcgavn3514 I prefer skill to prevail, take the time to learn recoil patterns, higher skill ceilings. I don't play COD anymore because anyone can get a kill, the aim assist will snap on if you point in the general direction and literally follow people with no input. I wish more games didn't have any aim assist to weed out all the kids and let the adults play

I’ve stuck with the game since the beginning, and I gotta say now with the new class system I really like the game, it has that BF4 vibe imo and it’s just good, had it come out in the shape it is now I think it would’ve been a much bigger game

The thing with Origin ? Yeah the last step is to upgrade to the Centurion package, which removes all traces, and the buried stuff, but crucially DOES come with about a quart of bleach and a fancy go-cup 👍 (mine has 2042 Operators T-posing)

The lag is my major issue and server browser can't get a game in two weeks. I enjoy playing it more than COD. EA should of delay it to give devs more time to get it right

likeing origin better myself out of the two than the play app, I found that using both or just origin now causes issues with games , I think its a lot of them phasing out the Origin app because they want everyone on the desktop play app. so i removed Origin a year ago and the problem with the games not working alot went away. so maybe think about losing the origin...
The OST would bang in the singleplayer tho... Shame we don't have one lol

For me, 2042 is playable. But just playable. It definitely could have used a few more years in the oven. Battlefield 1 had me coming back and Battlefield Hardline had me coming back. But Battlefield 5 and Battlefield 2042 are fun for a few hours and then I go do something else.

I only played BF2 back in the day when I was working in an internet cafe and I was absolutely mesmerized by everything about this game even if I wasn't that good. The first time I played a Battlefield game more than half an hour was 2042 a week ago. Still playing it and having fun. The intricacies are confusing but the main thing is that it's fun! Hopefully it gets better and better.

I think some of these bugs are PC only. I've recently downloaded it myself and I'm loving this battlefield. I think it's one of the most playable games they've made so far and you can finally use the vehicles without them being used up the whole game. Idk what you're talking about here tbh
I don't understand why EA/Dice are obsessed with releasing a game with about 3 weapons in each class.
Just add more weapons and it'll improve the game tenfold. The fact there's only about 5 weapons for each class just doesn't make sense. BF4 had tonnes for each type and that was so much more fun. Coming back to the game and playing with a gun I'd never used brought me back so many times.
There’s so many things wrong with this game that makes it unplayable for actual Battlefield fans. They tried to re invent too many things like squads, comms and class functions. It’s frustrating because there was already a clear layout of how the game should be, due to past series but they decided to start from scratch and blew it, so many of us tried the free version and just went right back to BFV. Just give us the unreleased expansions for BFV and everything will be ok again.

To be fair I've loved the whole journey so far. Never hated it. I miss the sky scraper crawling hovercrafts tho.
Its so refreshing to hear honesty about this game. Too many sell outs like Jack Frags getting paid to sell this as a "Good Game" and avoiding being honest to the point its laughable. I personally don't feel I want to support Dice in anyway with this game and I would call out to any and all BF fans to stand their ground and make it clear this game is unacceptable.
When the game first come out, i couldn't of hated it more, just recently reinstalled it again and im happy where it is now, couple of the maps are not all that great but overall a fun experience
Same here... I was literally hoping the game would fail. They released a half finished game with crappy looking graphics (still look lousy) and horrible maps. Game is "ok" now and i do have some fun.
After playing a lot of BF3, BF4 and BF1 I can say that BF2042 doesn't look or feel like your standard Battlefield experience, it's like a completely different game hiding under the "Battlefield" name tag.
I played this game since release, and kinda wish I didn't tbh lmao. It has its fun moments but most of the time for me it gets irritating to play after an hour, if that.. It has improved a ton but there is still so much more work it needs fundementally which I don't think it's even worth doing for DICE imo , and 1 map per season is just unacceptable. Maybe do 6 seasons and then dump it and go full force on the next BF game.

Frontline Fuel of war reminds me of 2042. The drones were a lot of fun.
It’s an alright game. It brings me back to BF4&3 but ultimately follows the trend since BF1 of feeling dumbed down. The specialist stuff just has busted equipment that’s really annoying, the lack of guns in any class other than ARs is disappointing, and the gun models look so much worse than COD (but that’s not new). My biggest gripe is the amount of crashes it still has. Totally kills my mood and way too frequent.
Funny, people say 2042 isn't bad now... while totally forgetting that Hazard Zone has been abandoned entirely, and Portal has had no real additions apart from a handful of weapons in 18 months. That's 2 out of 3 sections of the entire game that have had nothing added since the game launched. Trash.

As someone that mainly just plays breakthrough. My only annoyance with this game is the overwhelming explosive spam, ridiculous at times.
I agree they need to update their engine. But I think more players is natural progression more players can be done right with effort on game design.
Old school BF vet and competitive gamer (ESL) They made so many mistakes with this game its amazing! They've done a lot to fix their terrible design choices but it still lacks a lot of what makes a BF game feel like a BF game. Also the maps at launch were terrible!

I just gave it a try. It's on EA Play so I dumped the 75gigs on to my ssd and booted it up. My first impression (without forking over 70 bones) is great. Solo Conquest with AI...no cheaters or stream hounds...Hell Ya! I'll play it!

You had an issue with Origin, but Origin hasn't actually been the platform EA has used for quite some time now to distribute their services to PC. I am gonna go on a whim here and assume you skipped a message telling you to update to the new app and that is where your problem was, not trying to be mean, but it's been a subject of confusion specifically for people who run EA games through steam and then origin.
In portal there is a server browser so idk why you say there isn't one and you can also make your own server

I was one who bought the holy shit edition for $120 and I'm still pissed because I can't even play it even if I wanted to.
1) The audio design was poor in bf franchise.
2) The gunplay feels more like i was playing old cod.
3) specialist characters sucks still.
These are the three problems i didn't liked in 2042.
Honestly, I always wait when buying games until they either go on sale or have confirmed it's worth the full price.
For Battlefield however, I was not expecting anything at all. I immediately labeled it under "will fail; don't buy" and moved on.
This video's very nice to see. I'm glad that the game's enjoyable! But I'm probably still not gonna buy it because there's much better games out there (and because I'm horribly addicted to F.E.A.R. please help me I can't stop replaying this game oh no)

New games make me so mad because they could be good with a couple variable changes that don't take much effort to do. The speed at which you die and the little doritos that are drawn on everyone takes the skill out of the game.I honestly don't give a crap about little graphic bugs and stuff that don't effect the gameplay that much, it's really the core design choices that bother me about the past decade of games. Cod mw2 and it's warzone partner are definitely good examples as well. Super fast TTK , lots of bullshit you can die to where you have no control over etc..

I know battlefield used to have tons of real firearms, attachments and optics that was balanced pretty well. 2042 is short on weapons and attachments it seems.

7:10 is one of many reasons I quit. I couldn't find a match without crossplay on. I'm not playing against mouse and keyboard with a controller 😂
On ps5 I had 0 issues with battlefield 2042 and it runs better than the pc equivalent. I've been playing on pc and I've had a ton of annoying issues but the only issue that stayed was random stutter once a match.
If it wasn't for gamepass, I would never touch an EA game. But I do enjoy playing 2042 on my phone on the go, good times.
