- hey everyone !! 2021 update xx
i've now moved out, so i can let you all know where i lived. this building is called redvers tower & it was a silver studio flat. i really liked living there as it was a super nice flat, i would say if you're looking for a studio definitely consider it as an option, but make sure to look around as i just kind of picked the first place i saw and it wasn't the most social place if you're a first year. also the way they dealt with covid restrictions wasn't always great as i wasn't allowed any visitors until february, which obviously impacted my mental health a lot and meant i couldn't bubble up with a friend during lockdowns so i had to spend lot of the year at home. i now live in a 5 bed student house with my friends xx

i just thought i’d explain why i’m in a studio & stuff in a pinned comment, feel free to ask more and i’ll add the answers to this.
why are you in a studio & not halls: I just feel a lot more comfortable in my own space, i have never really wanted to live in halls but always wanted to move out for uni so a studio is the perfect fit for me !!
do you get lonely?: not really, i am spending a lot of time going out with friends & doing uni work so it’s nice to go home and have the time to myself (like the introvert i am hehe)
do you live in university accommodation: nope, it’s private but only for students.
how much is your accommodation: around £160 per week :)
how far away is your accommodation from your uni?: it’s a 10/15 minute walk depending on whereabouts in uni i’m going.
is Covid affecting your living situation: obviously i am super anxious about getting covid and having to isolate totally alone for two weeks, there’s a lot going around uni halls and incase that happens i’ve stocked up on loads of food !!

I’ve been contemplating getting a studio flat when I go to uni but im worried I’ll be really lonely or that my clothes might smell cause I’ll be cooking in the same room. Although I don’t think I could put up with messy flat mates ngl

This is amazing for £160 a week!! I’m considering a studio as I’m very introverted and would much prefer my own space - it’s reassuring to know that all those stereotypes associated with studios ‘being isolated, making no friends’ aren’t true :)

if you’re looking for good reusable cotton pads, tala does them, they have like little cotton rounds and a big face cloth as well. they’re a good sustainable brand too !

Hello love, I also am applying for a studio apartment instead of a shared one for the same reason, I’ve always wanted to move from home but I value my personal space a lot. I’m just wondering how you coped and managed to find your new friends, was it a hard experience? Or did you find that you made friends easily. I’m not a massive drinker but will still enjoy going to some events, I just have it pictured in my head that it would for some reason be harder to make friends as you’re not sharing a kitchen etc. Thank you so much :) this video is really helpful 🤍🤍

Be careful not to over water the mother in laws tongue and it does not need direct light:) let it go completely dry before watering it again

I’m currently in year 13 and I’m almost positive that I’ll be going to Uni in Manchester however the studio apartments seem to be fully let already and I’m not sure if leaving it till next August is too late to put down a deposit and get a studio ? x

Hey Charlotte, could you do a video on how to deal with accommodation finances. I’m worried if I don’t get into my top uni choices I’ll have to go to a uni where I’ll pay for accommodation. It would be nice for advice on how you pay for it, and if you pay weekly💜
your loan covers your accommodation and you always pay every 4 months but it gives you the price as weekly
@@user-ef3mf3bw7h not quite, depends on how much the accommodation is. Loan covers fees and maintenance loan covers part of (or all if your rent is cheap) your living cost. Maintenance loan depends on family income.

Hey Charlotte, don’t want to appear creepy but from your view of Sheffield I could kind of figure out where you live :/ I live quite nearby in Sheffield so I’m familiar with the area, just wanted to give you a heads up! I actually live in a studio as well but I pay only £135 a week, there’s actually some more nearby that is £125 per week but I booked my accommodation last minute

It's just like a normal rental, so it depends how long the lease is and what you want to do

heya, i would definitely recommend it if you like your personal space and you have a society or a job that keeps you social. it can be lonely and you do have to go out of your way to remind people to invite you to things at times. but it’s so much cleaner and peaceful than shared living haha. perfect for introverts and people who like their own space xx

most university owned accommodation is shared flats and studios tend to be private student or private landlord owned x

Thats so big in the netherlands its so small we dont even have kitchens if ur on a budget..
This is a studio flat, though. So obviously it will have a kitchen. What you’re thinking of is a student flat, where students will share a kitchen.
