UPDATE:1 year and still cranks within the first 2-3 pulls. Probably will buy another when this one finally does bite the dust czcams.com/users/postUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX . No issues at all. Very happy with it.UPDATE: After 6 months of use and over 70 uses I would still highly recommend this pressure washer. It does vibrate a decent amount but never had it “walk” like others have mentioned. No oil leaks, still seems to run like the day I bought it. Still cranks within 2-3 pulls every time. Very happy with my purchase!Have used it about a dozen times now. Plenty of power, cranks up on 1-2 pulls every time. My only complaint would be I wish it was a little taller to make it easier to walk with it (hits my ankles a lot) and that the two hose connections were a little further apart but it hasn’t caused me any issues. Seems to run a good 1-1/2-2 hrs on a full tank, overall a well built machine and definitely worth the money in my opinion.
whats that got to do with this
A brush on a car !?!?!
Who in their right mind would ever..
+MrCheatreporter I only use a brush for painting combing my hair or sweeping floors not a car.
+michael jagger I only use the brush for the rims
+Johny Kemp Or a soft brush inside to get the dust out of the vents..
+MrCheatreporter I always do,its only a car.
+ireland474 Are you serious? Are you a petrolhead or could you not care about any cars?
I'm confused. You kept calling it a jet wash, yet you used a brush, and the brush is what seemed to do all the damage. I was actually very curious as to what an ACTUAL jet wash would do.
+Sadpants McGee actually jet washes, if not done correctly, can take off the lacquer and damage the paintwork underneath.
***** And it would have been nice if the video was able to support that, but instead they used brushes for some reason, which prevented it from doing so.
+Sadpants McGee you gotta keep in mind that in most cases people will use the brush.
I have a pressure washer at home, when i use it to wash my car, it just istn scront enough to leave it clean, so the sponge is always used, i would be surprised if you managed to clean real dirt from a car with just the jet.
tuga2112 I'm just saying they shouldn't call it a "Jet wash" and say a "jet wash" will damage your car, if the brush is doing the both the washing and the damage. They should call it a "brush wash." There are plenty of places where you can get a jet wash with no brush, so I was hoping to see what the results of that would be in terms of wash quality and paint damage potential compared to other methods.
+Sadpants McGee But just using a jet wash. wouldn't do anything. the broom is to remove the dirt. u cant just blast it all off :P
even the hand car washers were doing it wrong! they were working from the bottom up instead of top down! bringing the larger pieces of grit up the car, problem is they just don't have the time to take care. answer is, if you're really worried about your paint, especially with a dark coloured car, then do it yourself
Exactly. My father taught me a young kid start with roof working way down. Wheels last!
When I’m training people, I tell them all the time. Washing a car is exactly like washing yourself, you don’t wash from the feet up do you?
I usually prewash with foam. Then I start from the bottom and rinse it off from the bottom. There's a reason for that. When I shampoo it I start from the top and also rinse from the top.
@@johnnyboy1586wheels are first bro
They’re literally the dirtiest part of the car…
@@user-360johnn so all that dirt and grime from the wheels going into the clean bucket of water and fresh car detergent to be spread all over the car and windows not to mention a lot of fine brake dust etc?,your logic is out of wack!but hey do it the way you like, wouldn't want you washing my car though😉
1:59 That's a very lucky car indeed 😂
Many reasons why I invested in detailing gear to clean my car (Lambswool wash mitts, Two buckets with grit guards and microfibre drying towels)
After some research i realized that we've been committing crimes against our cars' paint.. since then i wash my car only by my self although doing it takes LOTS of time and energy.. and i must admit that the looks of my car really transformed after only TWO washes.. paint hates swirls and scratches and taking your car to any type of car wash that i know of would produce lots of them and ruin its paint
First time I have seen such expensive wax on a Vauxhall!😂😂
+Max Murden fuck off
Soz it was just a joke....
A true joke at that, Vauxhalls are wank Tom. Cry me a river, build a bridge and get over it.
my profile picture is a Vauxhall... is that 'wank'
+Tom Forrest Wouldn't be seen dead in it.
Best method is the 2 bucket wash, one bucket with soap and one to rinse out the wash mitt between panels, dry with a plush towel and detailer spray. Always wash all your towels and mitts before doing any work. You can also use a foam cannon, then you would only need 1 bucket to wash away the grit from your mitt as you work. Clean from top down and never use a towel you have dropped or put somewhere dirty. Last step is some spray wax, paste wax or sealant.
lol this ones getting a "hand job" 😂😂
+gojo bojo you are very observant.👌
It was a very bad hand job tho😂
He winked..
Then it showed 5 Indian guys ready

Wash car yourself problem solved
Money saved yes
No scratches yes
Mental satisfaction yes
Job done 100%
merx b time wasted. How much is your time worth?
Nick McGowan how longs a piece of string
@@NickMcGowan It's hardly wasted as your car stays in a good condition and looking good. That's money wasted if you just ruin your car by not taking care of it.
@@NickMcGowan self washing a car is valuable for some people. It brings a sense of self accomplishment to know that you're taking care of your belongings
It's impossible to avoid scratches no matter how you wash a car... it's just that some are worse than others.
I don't use jet washes since my first VW Golf. Exactly the same thing happened to mine as to this one. The car was covered with swirly scratches. Washing the car after my money ran out probably had something to do with it. Since then, I use only regular car washes. I use the ones that were recommended by friends. So far they work pretty good.
good mit, duel buckets one for dirt, air compressor to blow cracks and microfiber drying towel. Squeegees cam be used if you're trying to be quick but you have to wash them first and wipe the blade after every pass. Even then you risk dragging the contaminants that have fallen on the car after the wash especially if working outdoors.
You can't let the carwash be the winner because you did the handwash wrong?
Well this whole experiment isn't scientific. They would have to test each type of wash probably hundreds of times or at least more than they did.
@@Jefff72 Not necessarily. If the hand wash was done correctly it would show significantly better results. Likely around 1 and 3 depending on how much effort they put into it.
thank you guys this is great info!
New car wash tunnels use textile brushes that leave no scratches whatsoever. I’d recommend holz systems
This is why I handwash my car. I do a pre wash and snowfoam using a kranzle jet wash, the a handwash using a 2 bucket method, etc. The only thing i don't use is a polisher.
The best advice would be to leave the dirt on the car as a shield, and just wash the windows.
+Skill28oy and your paint will break down over time, not good, try again :)
+paviaaPS3 than cover it with plastic foil or something... :)
Much better :)
I do this with the next car :)
spread a thick layer of shit, I mean just smear the thing with feces, it will add character.
I always liked this presenter, Shame he never stayed.
he has car S.O.S
No one beats Jeremy, Richard and James
+flunk77 i guess
Search CZcams "Mr. Inappropriate - Balls of Steel" and you'll see the other side of him.
+flunk77 I don't know if I'd call it a rip-off, the format is quite different. Top Gear may be fun and this isn't, but Top Gear is also pretty useless whereas this gives actual consumer information.
My local car wash is a semi handwash and a mechanical wash. They spray the alloys with foam, use a brush on the windows and then pressure wash it all off and then you go through the washer which coats it in 3 waxes and at the end it uses a huge blow dryer to blow the water off.
Great video.
It depends firstly on the material. Softest material is Textil and moosgummi which only exist in Germany. USA has the old Nylon brushes which are just argh scratch scratch for the car. Not to forget the brushes get moisted with water and the fast movements threw the dirt away
They should have done jet wash without the brush simply
+lcpd26 jet alone will not help if the car is really dirty.
the jet wash weak as hell
+kelvin oliver FIRE BAD!!!
***** Just to be complete they should have included a perfect hand wash technique...followed by a sandpaper rubdown. Seriously, wtf?
+Hubert Walter actually my dad washes his car only with jet wash and soapy jet wash but no scrabbing and it really clears the car quiet good enough
Basically you are the only one that cares about your paint, you have to hand wash it yourself.
+Jeff K Unless you're rich enough to go to a skilled detailer
Agree. I always leave notes and instructions at my dealership never to wash my car. Who knows what they're up to
+LynxAdvert even some details are clueless. I called three asking if they us clay to start and they didn't even know what I was talking about. These are places that will charge $200 to 'detail' a car.
Your need to do more of these.
We have a Hand Car Wash & never use those things we dry them by hand with fresh clean, soft cloths everytime.
Nice one guys!!
What I have learned is that the most important part of the car wash is spending a lot of time rinsing off the dirt and when I start I always spend a good 15-30 mins hosing off it before washing. Always wash from roof down. Anything below the wheel wells wash twice, can never get 100% with one wash unless you wash like everyday day. Most of the crap tends to collect half below the car because of the tires shooting stuff that's on the road.
I always use mechanical car wash but choose hot wax option for a good finish. based on experience it causes much less damage than brushes and sponges as they spread grit.
Here's my own car wash policy:
1. I never ever wash my car in the big mechanical brush systems because they hold grit (particularly the uncovered outdoor ones) from earlier cars.
2. My car is professionally hand-washed - first it is sprayed down with a paint-friendly solvent to loosen dirt and grime, then it is power-sprayed, then sponge-shampooed, then rinsed off, squidged and rubbed dry with clean cloth, and finally blow-dried with a handheld blower.
This costs me just 23 euros, around the same price as a machine wash, but a lot more paintwork-friendly.
When you acquire a car with good condition paintwork, the first thing you should do is get the paintwork sealed with a treatment like PermaShine or similar. This gets rid of microscopic scratches and it seals the paintwork in the way rainwater simply rolls off and road grit and grime doesn't get to the paintwork itself.
After that treatment your car should get only handwashes like I described above. Then the paintwork will look like new for years.
+Dyflinn --- If you like cars you should always pamp your ride and enjoy doing it. Grtz ;)
Put mine through a "Soft Wash" car wash a while back. It was good, but was scratched before I went there from independent hand jobs anyway.
head over to ammo nyc for great cleanning tips
I've been using the auto carwash at BP station and each time I see more and more black dots. I spoke to manager who said 'these use soft brushes, it's not car wash. It's probably tarmac when you're driving'. But then I look at the roof and same black marks as if paint is chipped. Deffo handwash for me from now.
I bring a wash mitt and drying towel to the Jet wash. Spry it down, hand wash, jet rinse, pull into the park and hand dry. Easy Pezy. Takes about 20 min and I get wet...so I do it on Sunday after I go to the gym. Then I polish with a Porter Cable and 2-stage Chemical Guys polish/sealant once every few months.
+jason stark if you have to do a 2-stage you dont wash it correctly
+narogang Possible, but unlikely. Also, If you're not doing a two or three stage at least once a year I'd offer that you'd be the one not properly attending to your paint.
Black can get damaged if a fly breaths on it, never buy a black car. It will break your heart
White without metallic is the way to go. Although most won't believe it. Swirls invisible, water spots invisible, minor scratches almost invisible, bigger scratches and stone chips - easily repaintable without repainting the whole panel. Doesn't get as hot inside if you don't have a black interior. Also, little known fact. Waxes and Sealants last longer in Summer (-:
But I've got to admit. You will feel the urge to wash it after driving just a few minutes in rain and you will be happy that climate change now threatens the insect population during summer.
Trust me I know :(
Black is the best color you just have to take a bit extra care. Depending on the car or SUV you will never go wrong with a shiny black tuxedo.
Der Spliff swirls are visible on a whote gloss car... especially during the night
I bought a black 2020 corolla with 18 inch alloy wheels, didn't even consider that its gonna show all the dirt and scratches very easily, but it sure as hell looks bomb when its clean. I guess Ill just have to take extra care for it
With the hand wash one I've never seen that squeegee blade thing, so would they be the best? What about if you go in as the last car on a Friday night?
I have to throw in there that there was no high pressure only car wash exercise. All 3 methods shown involved some sort of material being in contact with the paint. High pressure only car washes are virtually all that exist where I am from and they are fantastic at knocking down the stuck on dirt and sand without ever touching the paint. Thus causing almost zero damage as compared to the other 3 methods demonstrated. Follow up with a detail spray wipe down and you got a winning combination.
The Car Wash used outdated Polythene Brushes, these are not used anymore since 2004, they are now using Textile Brushes, lambs cloth brushes and teddy tex
Moral to this?......... don't buy a black car.
BigDogsDangler Dagit I'm screwed! 😅
BigDogsDangler I wish I could turn back time and not buy a black car 😂 what colour would you say is best to avoid scratches, dirt etc.?

Hi nice work
In the US they have Touch-less car washes, basically a automated jet wash, works really well - never seen any in the UK ...
Ever heard of touchless wash with active foam?
HyralProductions no
They suck... Specially if you have bugs and tree sap baked on the car.
ElPatriotaLX only if you use the wrong kind of detergent.
@Chris Ruiz 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Chris Ruiz Once a year ouuff imagine their personal hygiene if they treat their car like that 🤮
£1300? Most expensive is £65000 lol. Made by Mitchell and King. I'm glad people are seeing this because it makes everyone realise why professional insured detailers charge more, you get a far superior experience in doing so.
I brush my car in winter but at home with my own brush that is thoroughly hand washed after every use. I don’t use it on the wheels either. As long as it looks good to the naked eye I’m not bothered, no one is taking a magnifying glass to it plus it’s silver so hides scratches well a black or dark coloured car might be more of an issue, for me the Mrs scraping against shrubs on a tight country road is a bit more of an issue...
So as long as they dont use the squeegee, hand car wash is the best? Still would never trust one for my car. Prefer to do it myself
At least if you fuck it, you can't blame anyone xD
Which they will because most people buy cheap shit from Halfords for their motors
you must use microfiber. since microfiber doesnt absorb water though, a trick i use is to use a damp microfiber towel to dry the car instead a soaked one.
***** Oh definitely. My neighbour is mad about his car, washes it every other day, even when it rains but i see him using a dirty black rag on it. Would love to see his face when you put his black discovery under a light
Zahir Millard I tried that as well and works well but i always misplace microfibre towels or they end up getting dirty somehow too quickly.
Instead i have a large synthetic chamois that collects the large amount of water and then i go round it with a thick microfibre towel afterwards. Takes no time.
I hand wash but I dry with a drying towel, usually does very good
+Kyle Forrest - I use a leafblower and .. it works wonders. The car has about 30K on the odometer. Grtz

Hy Adrian - This is how I (!) wash my car.
Note : After purchase I clayed ( blue mild Chemical guys clay ) and applied the Collinite 476 wax ( my favorite : durability - price - gloss ) .. the car.
1. Wheels : Apply APC on the wheels and tires ( APC : Poorboys world - Megs - Autobrite Citrus Wash - Poorboys soaks the best - Megs is the mildest for the interior ). Use an EZ-brush and detail brush. Rinse.
2. Door shuts : first rinse to remove most of the sand and dirt - apply APC and use a brush or mitt - rinse.
3. Foam : Kärcher Ultra Foam with a drop of Autobrite Super Foam. Allow to soak for 5min. Rinse from bottom to top and horiontal. Wash the car using two buckets ( soap + rinse ) - lambswool mitt - Chemical guys maxi suds. My favorite. Dodo Juice has some great shampoo ... . Rinse.
4. I use my Honda leafblower to remove most of the water before using my Chemical Guys - wooly mammoth drying towel ( a must have ).
5. Clean windows : use short haired towels and meguiar professional glass cleaner concentrate ( the best one on the market imo, a gallon lasts + 1 year )
6. Gloss : to boost the shine and remove water spots I use Chemical guys speed wipe - extremely easy to use - doesn't streak - flashes quick - the paint feels very smooth. From time
to time I apply Autobrite brilliance glaze with wax to add a mirror shine ( takes 15min to apply and 15min to buff off - use a MF pad - a very pleasant product ).
7. Tires : Stay Fresh car care tire shine ( ordered in the states - have a look at their website ).
Done.

My 2 year old BMW 320 had to have the brake discs and callipers replaced due to severe corrosion caused by the Acid used by the car wash merchants to clean my alloy wheels.I no longer use any type of car wash outfits now, I much prefer to wash the car myself it's good exercise too.
It is actually really good to know that
So allways best to go to the carwash
The moral of the story is like most things, if you want a job doing properly DO IT YOURSELF.

I used to work at a car wash. The chemicals we use are not strong enough to remove tree tar so they aren't completely bad for the paint but I can assume it is bad to some extent.
The problem black paint shows up every little scratch or mark. It's the most difficult colour to keep looking new.

why would anyone use a brush to clean a car?
+Interceptor810 idiots.
+Hing holo
So how do u wanna clean a car without using any brushes? Could u explain?
yes....Those Indian guys in the end had it right until the last bit when they used the squeegee.
-use microfibre cloths or a cleaning mitt.
-Use two buckets..1 for the soap and the other to clean the cloth.
-to dry, use a shammy cloth
netuserist no need to explain just use your brain.
In Canada, we have so many touch-less car stns wash where high speed water jets clean everything. I wonder what that would do to the paint.
I would never go to those Eastern European guys or use a car wash. Jet wash wise I only use the lance to clear the dirt from the lower part of the car and the alloys. The rest of the wash is done at home using two-bucket method, microfibre cloths etc. Usually takes 3-4 hours, car paintwork is protected but to be fair only stays clean for two days.
i used the brush once not knowing what it would do to my car, i have black paint! how much is it to have your car detailed to fix this or any good methods to restoring the paint yourself?
You will need to use rubbing compound, with a dual action polisher, polish with a da polisher to remove the compound microscratches, finally follow up with a quality car wax/sealant. Ammo NYC is a amazing car detailer. Look up his videos. Hope this helps
To have someone do paint correction for you properly will cost anywhere from $200-$800 depending on the condition and the size of the vehicle.
I use the jet wash but never put the brush on my car xD I just use the stream and dry it out..
By not actually removing the grit, when you then dry it you are scratching it.
The jet wash will remove the large pieces of grit but not the small ones, if you literally just spray and dry then you are scratching your car. The dirt needs to be agitated, also jet wash can actually damage paint if too strong apparently. ( I mean if you dry with something afterwards.)
The hand wash Is the best one. Just use Micro Fiber towels when you dry the car. I personally wash my own car. But during summer It's tough to keep that going at 115 F°+ days
i remember when i was a teenager detailing cars and seeing cars that looked like they went through a autowash hundreds of times, just scratches striahgt up the entire tip of the car. nothing a little buffing wouldnt fix. im 36 years old and have never been in a auto wash in my life. way easier to just wash it at home, and in the winter i can usually do it at work
if i ever go to the jet wash, i always spray the brush with the rinse cycle first to get rid of debris.
Washing with a jet only 2-3 times a week is enough for me, and handwash for wheels when needed. Jetwash, strong solvent soap for 5 minutes and a jetwash again. Might not be as perfect as a handwash but it gets a bit dusty anyway as soon as you hit the road so.
Is Jet wash not the same thing as touchless wash in U.S? In the U.S there are touchless automatic carwashes that doesn't physically touch your car.
I wash my car in jetwash with chemicals and NO BROOM!
but you never remove the embedded road film, so when you dry it you're doing damage. You need friction of some type to remove the build up that occurs between washes. If you only wash once per month the road film and build up won't get removed with the hand wand and chemicals only. That only works for cars washed 1-3 times per week
I used an auto car wash with micro fiber mitters and round abouts and with my car being black it does the least damage and since I only wash that car 2x per month it is the best option, my garage queen is 3 bucket hand wash by me every weekend except during winter, it is cleaned before being covered and stored for the snowy months
The best way to clean a car is by coating the entire thing in petrol and setting it alight. It gets rid of all the dirt and it dries in seconds.
And it gets rid of the car as well lol
Yes, I know you're joking.
@@CM-bp8lz 😁👍
I would go for the jet wash, with my own microfiber wash mitt and later dry it with my own microfiber towel. Thus nothing else touches the paint except water & my own microfibers.
BTW, expecting that brush to be full of contaminants, when available I use it to clean my rims & tires :) :P
Moral of the story: if you don't want your car scratched, don't use £1300 polish on it!
There's a Wesumat Soft Wash W92 car wash system in this video.
Do this test at Tesco or Sainsbury’s with the guys and there trollies. I’ve seen the results and it looks like torvil and dean have been skating on the car. The damage from scratching is so bad its borderline right off
I personally wish to see a more in depth review!!
I have an expensive car. Usually go to a Shell garage and use brush and pressure . I can't see any unusual affect! Their brush is also soft not like that you sweep gardening debris
It’s hilarious how smug the detailer was during the hand wash, but after the automatic he said “that was painful to watch”. This truly proves that automatic washes are safer than any other wash method. What makes it funnier is that the auto wash used filament, which is a clear coat destroyer. Modern washes use a very smooth very soft closed cell foam that cannot absorb dirt, making it especially safe on the paint. The detailer also blamed the wrong thing for the hand wash scratches, both the squeegee and the wash mitts damage paint. From now on when people say automatic washes are the devil of clear coat, I’ll show them this video.
Do you guys not have touchless automatic car washes over there
Great
I would never use a brush on a car, people are fools
I have not done a car wash outside. Regularly I clean the dust with a "Jopasu car duster" (which is famous in India). The car duster does not give a sparkling shine. But just wipe off the dust and make the car neat.
I water wash my car 3 or 4 months once manually with two bucket of water ( just using normal hair wash shampoo ). My car's paint was intact for 9 years. Then I sold my car.
here's the catch, how about take it to a car wash and don't get it dried with that blade thing..

2:03 would you even trust these guys near your car to wash it??
sure why not
Any wash that actually cares is the winner. My local hand car wash cleans every towel before. It does cost a bit, but is well worth it.
I'm not sure if this video is biased or not but I have managed to use a soft brush on "perfect" paint with no scratches for years....
I would have flipped out if ANY noticeable damage would have been done on my new car
maybe a brush used by hundreds of people may produce scratches like these
but I would not use this video as an example of what will happen to you if you use a new soft brush....
Do they not have touchless car washes in your country?
Good song when he entered the car wash was the car wash song good I like that 😀
2:01 it looks as if its going for a car bomb transition rather then a car wash.....
Canadian car washes are touchless washes... So they don't have those in the UK?
How about using the jet wash without the brush. People use that brush to clean their wheels and sometimes the undercarriage also.No brush or touchless car washes are the best tp keep your car”s clearcoat from disappearing air drying your car off with a coat of spray on sealant with microfiber cloth is the best.
I only buy gray autos and never wash, unless prepping for sale. Vehicles always look great as only shade changes as the dirt builds, rain washes them occasionally.
Should ave done one with one of those water less systems. Aka rinse less system. They are popular in California due to the drought.

is this the cut version? i mean this video is usefull but not "very entertain" for me. because this is so quick, yes its straight to the point but its just too quick. if top gear makes video about car wash i think they will add some "spices". i dont say top gear will do better, what i wanna say is fifth gear need a bit of "spice"
id never used a car wash since i got my new car last year during spring to autumn i do it my self pressure washer, wax free shampoo rinse dry with a shammi then use turtle wax in the winter i go to a Recommended hand car wash only cost a £5-£10 and they wash it with a shampoo and wax and hand dry it no brush and if i pay £10 they Vacuum too :)

its fine, car looks great to the naked eye. besides im selling in a year or 2
As peculiar as it may sound, I actually like bit of dirt on my car. It gives my lovely car a bit of 'character'.
I had my cars hand wash for years by new car dealers who sometimes used the squeegee and sometimes didn't. First of all it's soft, and it's NOT LIKE AN ICE SCRAPER. Theoretically it's possible to scratch car from that but not likely. There shouldn't be any residue on the car when it's it's used anyways. The broom yes is a better chance if the broom is not stored carefully. New car dealers don't store them on the ground. This video showed it at a gas station do it yourself setup. If the car wash person is wearing metal rings with edges or a jacket with a sharp zipper that's left open, that can cause problems. Never let anyone clean your car with keys hanging out on a chain on their person etc. Hand wash is still better. Most hand wash places use a blower to get majority of water off car. They didn't talk about the wheels in the video. Most regular car washes use acid that will DESTROY ALLOY RIMS. A reputable hand wash place wins. Important to spray car with water BEFORE WASHING WITH SOAP.
The only way to go is the self serve washes, don't touch the brush, only use the pressure washer and the foam gun. If its the dead of winter and there are freezing temps but you need to get the salt off the underside pick a car wash that does touchless with undercarriage wash too.
