  • Although the RTX 3070 and 6700 XT are more direct competitors, the 3060 and the 6700 XT can be found quite close in price on the used market. Both are solid gaming graphics cards, and both have 12GB VRAM. So how do they compare?

Doing a price comparison as opposed to doing a series comparison is an amazing way to go about a review. The RX6700xt will be around for years and eventually become AMDs future version of the rRX580 8gb is now. A gpu that will outlive anything intel and Nvidia put out.
Our last Nvidia gpu was a 1080Ti and even Nvidia admits that was a card so good they only released it in fear of AMD acting like Vega was going to be epic.
The 3 gpus in our house currently are my 6950xt, a 6700xt and a 6650xt. We recently upgraded our 5 year olds pc from an RX580 8gb to the RX6650xt and I have to say it has been a very welcome surprise. The 6650xt feels so much better than a previous RX5700xt we had. AMD needs to focus on marketing and overall longevity , Nvidia needs to move on already and Intel is doing fantastic with driver updates and becoming more relevant.
Thank you for the review. I need a catch up on your recent videos, I need to see if you have covered the 6650xt yet. At £200 it is a brilliant gpu.

That outlive token seems a little counterintuitive when AMD seem to stop making drivers far earlier than Nvidia do for their cards.

RX580 was heavy used in mining riggs , so there is loot of them out there , and those can be VERY cheap I saw RX580 4gb go for 50€ and 8gb 70-100€ , I dunno how many RX6700 have sold , but number will 100% affect price .

The longevity issue I was typing about , in regards to AMD, is exactly your statement as well. AMD need to support drivers longer. The AMD price to performance is undeniable and in a market where all newreleases will require systems that further push future gamers to consoles, the AMD cards will be in use far longer than any of the cards Nvidia has put out witht he 4 series. From the super bland slow 4060 to the fire starter 4090 that weighs and cost as much as a house.@@danimayb

The PCIe x8 GPU bus width could be very problematic in a version 2.0 standard. Apparently, the i7 3770 (and 7-series chipset?) enabled PCIe 3.0. The 6700 XT can do hardware acceleration, but the end results are often much larger file sizes than Nvidia or Intel offers. So, for now, I'm keeping the a750 for any rendering I need to do--and maybe check in on firmware updates to see if the bugginess with my monitor becomes less of an issue.

The 12GB of VRAM for the 3060 is only now coming into play in 2023 after it bizarrely received criticism from some reviewers and pundits upon release. Anyone who has a 3060 today should be laughing the loudest.
I actually won an RTX 3060 in a competition back in 2021 but never got the chance to use it as I was building a PC during the Great Parts Shortage. Skip ahead to April of this year and I **finally** completed the PC build after selling the 3060 for a 6750 XT. Nice to see what I could have gamed with vs the performance uplift over the previous card.

I'm extremely happy with the performance, while quite overpriced, it still does wonders on both sides, gaming and workload.
I know that AMD cards could pull off the same thing i'm doing with the 3060, but simply having a one click download, install and run without the addition of ROCm, installing linux instead and running programs, you know, the hassle to run AI stuff makes it so much easier.

How does the 3060 12GB hold up against the RX 6700 10GB variant?

A closer competitor to the 6700 XT is the 3060 Ti

True, almost every benchmark I've seen has the two cards neck and neck. The 3060ti is usually more expensive though.

he focused on the price as an equalizer, not a tier for tier comparison. Obviously the 3070 is a better card than the 6700XT but that wasn't the point of the video

Thinking about buying PC but ones witu ry6700xt are more expensive honestly just want to play some new games since my current one can play only up to 2014/15 games.
What yall think should i be geting one that fit budget more for just casuall gaming or spending more for rx6700xt i dont care about having 170 or 150 fps just want to play games without my pc catching fire

I bought rtx 3060 because i was looking for white card. The vision one is more appealing than the rx 6700xt hellhound and i found the rtx on cheap. I don't play on high framerate anyway because my monitor still 75hz. It looks cool on my white build tho.

I Upgraded like 2 years ago from a 1070ti to a 6700Xt... Both have similar wattage but 6700xt has like 2.5x perfomance... Also, adrenalin driver is cooler than nvidia's panel...

If you pair Rx 6700xt with an i5 13400f/ r7 5700x or higher for both you will get some years with quality gaming experience(At least in 1080p).When i purchased my 6700xt,i had an i5 8600k and in some games in 1080p the cpu bottlenecked the gpu.I upraded to an i5 13400f and the experience was a huge step forward(got a boost of 30 to 50 fps in majority of the games and no stuttering). If you want a good gaming experience remember that not only the gpu needs to be upgraded, keep in mind for the rest of the components (even the power supply)

i have a 3060 overclocked from the factory and its more than okay for the types of games that i play. i dont think my processor cant handle a more powerful card since its a 9th gen type of processor. its much better than my previous card which was a 1660ti
btw, i dont care about raytracing or lumens

Production of 6700XT has been discontinued; used ones for mining are being sold under the guise of new ones.

I got a HP 3060 (OEM card) back in July for £209 (12GB VRAM in that too) and that's proved a great bang for buck card in my main pc - really good performer to its credit, I do think the 6700xt is 'better' and likely worth the ~20 quid extra or so but I don't think the 3060 is a bad card at all, way more bang for buck imo than some of the higher end and newer nvidia cards

I'm replacing that card with a 6700xt oc due to my 3060 running in the high 90s when gaming. Case swapping the omen into.a better box brought it down about 4°c but that still seems high. My wife's 580 keeps up with it in most games. I really hope the 6700 will be a better card.

There's no point besides the pricing to compare these cards. Been owning a 6700 XT for more than a year and it's an amazing card for the price, especially now when you can find it for around 320-340 euros where I live (sometimes 6750XT's go at the same price). I plan upgrading to a 7800XT next but waiting for a fair price
