- According to a report from Shams, the Memphis Grizzlies had a player’s only meeting before Ja Morant flashed a gun on Instagram Live. Steven Adams reportedly talked to the team about needing to show better discipline on road trips and avoid going out and partying. And yesterday the local police in Colorado confirmed that they are investigating Morant’s incident and if he broke any gun laws. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe talk Ja Morant.

If it's found that Ja transported the gun on the team plane, he could be suspended for 50 games. He's going to have plenty of time to think about his actions if this is how it pans out. Me and Ja are from the same place. I know him personally....knew him as a kid....know his family and know his friends. He's not a bad kid.....his life changed faster than he was able to adjust to it....he's not a gangster but where we're from is high crime...he wasn't involved in that life but he may have definitely been influenced by it......young kid with millions of dollars and fame can persuade you to make bad decisions. ....hopefully he can get it together. I really don’t know much about the sports industry, but it seems to be a place where being young, rich & pampered is a challenging place to mature.
Sad, because you find so many youngsters destroying their future (due to alcohol, drugs or just being young & dumb) for reasons they literally don’t even remember. Sometimes, the best lessons are learned from others mistakes.
Most of these kids have never seen this amount of money, a lot come from no to little money. I think it's reasonable to expect young people to make stupid mistakes like Ja is here. If anything being pampered does make it harder because fewer people are around to tell you you're being stupid.
I'm not gonna excuse what Ja has done, but some levity should be expected for young people. Making mistakes is apart of the human experience, we all do it this kid just happens to be famous.
It's just rich kids that don't have the right influence around them. Same thing happens to young actors. They make a ton of money and they don't get steered right because so many people want their piece of the money they make.
I'd leave it at young. These people nowadays are groomed to become great sportsmen since a young age and to achieve that, they go to great lengths and have to be lucky genetically and mentally.
After all that stress and having achieved their goals, it's hard to maintain the level of rigour.
Unless they are extremely competitive, once they get the bag, it's like the job's done and they want to explore the different paths they would have taken had they not been putting so much effort on the court.

So many kids don’t get to see their potential because they get gunned down at the neighborhood park or grow up around gangs and it becomes their life. That’s the importance of the correct surrounding and the correct entourage. If derozan followed the wrong examples and the wrong paths he wouldn’t be where he’s at now. As for Ja, yeah his parents were better off than the examples I gave but his parents also don’t go to school with him they don’t partake in his activities as a kid growing up with his friends. Often times parents in those situations are so clueless but think because the grades are good the kid must be good in all aspects and they can just go on bout their day
