DALI Loudspeakers: OBERON 1 REVIEW! + Vokal, E9F Sub Dali Home Theater
I’m a pretty big advocate for a good two-way monitor, and if you’re a regular around here, you know they’re among my favorite types of loudspeaker. What is rare is when there is a brand that I've never heard before as was the case with the Dali speakers. The Dali Oberon 1 speakers are small in size but big in sound and a great introduction to the Dali Oberon speaker line up. In this Oberon 1 review, we look at the monitor speakers in both a 2 channel and home theater setup. The Oberon Vokal Center Speaker and Dali E9F subwoofer rounded out the 3.1 Dali home theater speakers system.

Jamo S 803s (white of course, and paired with the S 810 Sub and S 83 Center for our TV/movie pleasure)... they have their faults, and are by no means perfect, but big spacious sound and from a relatively small footprint. not to mention all i have to do is remind myself of their price (my entire speaker setup all in was less than the Dali's) and well, it's a hard package to beat.
I was curious about the opticon mk II speakers with the two tweeter setup. They have an on wall speaker and it looks good for HT.
I find it hard to look past my Wharfedale Lintons... technically a bookshelf!
@@joshuawarren9891 We hope to hear those for ourselves one day as we really enjoyed the Denton 85s.
Spendor A1 and audio solutions Figaro bookshelf
I have heard nothing but great things about these. I was really blown away by the Spektor 1's. Looking forward to getting a test drive of the Spektor 2's and eventually these. Great review as always. Did we just become best friends!?
Just ordered some Oberon 5s with SVS PB1000 as the kicker. They were hands-down one of my favourite sounding voice in the HIFI store.
Can confirm a year later, the Oberon 5s, Oberon Centre, PB-1000 and Klipsch surrounds (bizarre pairing, I know), sound absolutely AMAZING in my listening room / home theatre. This set up sounds better than systems twice the price. DALI are very underrated in the hifi world.
I'm not sure if the distributor or aeria sales manager mentioned that DALI speakers shouldn't be towed in but instead, they should be placed facing straight into the room. They're designed to achieve a wide dispersion of sound. That might be the reason the soundstage was slightly narrow or restricted.
6:20 into the video. Loving it so far!
I have two Dali Oberon 1 speakers as a stereo system and I absolutely love them. I use them for home cinema and music in a 20 sqm room.
Are they bright? Any fatigue after a while ?
@@marcusaurelius2988 No, I wouldn't call them "warm" but not "bright" either. I paired them with a Denon AVR. There's a certain airiness but it's not fatiguing. I really like it especially with music from vinyl.
Dayum!! I posted a comment in the last video to review Dali. I had no experience with audiophiles and bought Dali Oberon 3 as my first pair of Bookshelf. It gives a smile when you see a review of a product you own.
Got a set of Dali Spektor 1 last week for my desktop setup, near field and they sound AMAZING! Mated to an SMSL M500 and VTV Ncore amp they are so engaging to listen to! (thanks to CheapAudioMan's review turning me on to these!)
Hey mister. I've never seen a video of your before but I really need to clarify one thing:
Your vocal recordings sound just phenomenal. What a great frequency tuning right there. You really know what to do to sound great.
A pleasure to listen to and overall a high quality video production.
Cheers from germany!
Good morning! We hope you are all off to a great day. Please be sure to watch until the end to catch our post review discussion. 😃

I just got my Oberon 3's yesterday and I'm thrilled with them. I went to demo the Q Acoustics 3020i, Dali Spector 2 and Kef q150. The Oberon's were a curved ball and I was immediately taken with them and ended up ordering a pair. In my tiny listening room (12ft square) they are perfect and a sub isn't required. This is probably due to the 7" bass/ mid driver and the reason I busted my budget.
Glad you / you two finally got the opportunity to experience the Dali sound. I definitely encourage you to experience more from Dali.
Hi Andrew! I am French and I gotta say, my English greatly improved since I have been watching your videos and I just wanted to thank you for that. You are such a nice dude and I love your channel. Take care!
That's great! Thank you for watching!
It's the first time I'm watching one of your videos, and I got to say, what a great review! I love that you both gave your opinions, and that you compared the Dali's to other speakers that you've listened to, because as a consumer, it is nearly impossible to compare multiple speakers before you buy.
I own a whole bunch of Dali speakers in the same price range - the Dali Zensor 5, Zensor 1, Zensor Pico, Alteco C-1 and SUB E9F. The Zensor series is the predecessor to the Oberon series, and they sound fairly similar, with the Zensors being a tad brighter.
The reason I chose Dali was the beautiful and compact design of the Zensor series. I’m running a 7.1.4 home theater setup in our living room, and the speakers just blend in because of their design and small footprint. The Zensor Pico makes a fantastic surround speaker in an environment where you (or your better half) really don’t want to see any speakers.
However, when I bought my speakers, I did not have the chance to listen to many different speakers, so I honestly have no idea how my speakers sound in comparison to other speakers. Thus, I've recently become curious to know whether there is any speaker line suitable for home theater use out there which can provide a noticeable upgrade in sound quality while maintaining the pleasing and compact design of the Dali Zensor series. I would accept to move up in price (say max 2000 USD a pair of tower speakers), but I would not accept to have bulky speakers, especially not as surrounds or wall-mounted heights. Having seen and listened to a lot of different speakers, and now the Dali Oberon 1’s which are quite similar to mine, is there any speaker line that comes to mind?
Looking forward to more reviews, not least of Dali speakers!
Thank you for the review, Andrew! It was interesting to see your take on them. Im an owner of Oberon 1 pair and very happy with these speakers. There are many interesting things about Dali design and as Andrew mentioned - there is no doubt that heart and investments have gone there, but one particular thing is about not toeing in these speakers (it is a recomendation in user manual that Dali provides). As far as I found and understood what they did is boosted high frequencies just a bit on the axis of the speaker, which would make them brighter, but off the axis (no toe-in) they get more neutral sound (i guess less "exciting" what Andrew calls it). Also that is how you get a wider angle of pleasant sound all over your room. This really matters if you move over the room while enjoying the music and makes it nice and easy live with them. So trust engineers and do not toe-in them unless you prefer that brighter sound. If so - you can also just simply use the tone control. ;) Cheers!
I really like the more informal "wrap-up" you do with your partner toward the end. It really helps to "humanize" your reviews and fit them into the real world. Nicely done. You all are totally Siskel and Ebert!
Thank you so much, we appreciate it!
Great review. I am looking forward watching the next Dali review!
I got a pair of Oberon 1 and Cambridge AXR100 stereo receiver. They sound great.
I'm really happy. Clear sound, maybe I'll get a sub later, but still enjoyable bass. Enough power for a 25 square meters room.
I’m thinking in exactly doing the same match of amp/speakers. Thanks!
I ordered a full set of Oberon speakers for a 5.1.2 setup and just wanted to let you know that none of them arrived damaged and they sound pretty damn fantastic!
That is awesome! Thank you for letting us know.
I love DALI, i have Zensor 1 and will keep them 4ever🤍 Tnx for the review. No.1 channel for me❤
Cool little speakers my friend! They were my first pair of Dali Speakers. Then I moved up a range to the Opticon 2s, & now I own a lovely awesome pair of the Rubicon 2s. Hopefully in the future "Soon" I'll own a pair of those Awesome lovely Dali Epicon 2s. 🤞
I have the Opticon 1. Really nice little loudspeakers in walnut, Kristi!
Being a DIY‘er I took the electronics from an IKEA/Sonos Symfonisk, built it inside the Opticons cabinet and connected it to the tweeter and woofer. The result is a powered Opticon 1 in the Sonos world which sounds fantastic together with my Sonos sub.
Good review Andrew love to se more DALI reviews :)
A Dali Oberon 9 review would be a welcome comparison for the full range three way speaker segment.
I bought the Oberon 5 after watching this. It inspired me to look at the Dali range, and I figured the floor standarders would be approximately the cost of the 1 + speakers stands
I recently got the Dali Oberon 1 about 2 months ago,was planning on getting Spektor 2 but I’m so glad I got the Oberon 1s they are built better and look more expensive and I love the sound they produce, got them in white and the colour of the bass cone goes well with the white
Same story here. The Oberon 1 is a big jump in quality and sound, for a small difference in price over the Spektor 2.
YES! ...to more Dali reviews.
Hi Andrew & Kristi. Thanks very much for your review on the Oberon 1. I was looking for a small speaker that is easy to place (max:12" from back wall), with an open midrange and clear, sparkling treble (many/most people seem to prefer a rolled-off/laid-back sound... I don't!) and... come in in a light-oak(ish) veneer. After watching your video I decided to go for the Dali Oberon 1. Tbh, I haven't heard them yet, as I don't have a dealer in my area to audition 'em. Therefor I had to order 'em online. (I now have a 30days return garanty though) I also ordered the same Solidsteel SS-6 stands you're using in the video. I think they look fantastic on those stands! To me the only small visual drawback on the Dali's are the 4 black holes on the front of the cabinet. (it won't stand out on the black version, but with the white and light-oak version,..hmm, bummer) But, hey...for only € 398/pair (here in the Netherlands) you can't have everything. Looking forward to hear them in my own room. (upcoming saturday) Keep up the good work!
DALI rocks! I have a pair of Oberon 5 floorstanders since 2019 and I love how they look and how big they sound for their size. They also kept up like champs when I upgraded from a 35W Cambridge AXA35 to a 72W Rega Elex-R, now they go VERY loud without a hint of distortion.
Of course I don't push them that hard, just did it once for testing their limits and I didn't go that far. I have to protect what's left of my 47 year old hearing but it's nice to know what they are capable of.
I'm sure the added power helped them to sound their best! So far I am very impressed by what I'm hearing from Dali!
@@andrewrobinsonreviews they sounded great with the AXA35, make no mistake, but the Rega took them to another galaxy.
Hello Andrew, I find it incredibly easy to listen to your reviews. What a well spoken, articulate young man you are. I have a question please; in a 3.2 home theater setup does the Denon S920W provide sufficient power to these speakers as you caution? I’ve been researching speakers for quite some time. First time having a go and I thought these would look remarkably handsome as L/R but will they get the power they need with this entry level receiver? Paired with Focal 300 IW6 center channel and two SVS SB-1000 Pro’s. Have a great night and thank you again for another great review.
Great review, Thanks Andrew
Any chance you can review the new Opticon
MKII?
Cant find any decent review of them :(
Would it be possible to see the Opticon 1 MK 2 I would like to see how these two compare? Is it worth the upgrade?
More Dali reviews please Andrew!
Thanks for presentation. Does it need to be the Oberon Vocal in the set up or does the Censor also fit...? Are the differences very big
Last year I started by very first audio system. I got a pair of DALI Oberon 3 which are a slightly bigger version of the 1s in your review and I've been very happy with them. I'm not really a movie fan, but I'm really happy with them as music speakers in my apartment. At some point in the future I will likely upgrade to speakers that are a little more lively, as well as getting a sub if I move into a house, but they're amazing budget speakers.
The receiver I got (since the same speakers are also used for everything else such as watching your reviews) is a Denon AVR-X1600H. Also budget, but sounds better than the more expensive Marrantz receivers I heard in the shop.
Keep up the great reviews :)
hows the bass?
The new Opticon MK2 of DALI is the interesting thing! I hope you will review this series soon.
I had my eye on Dali Epicon 2's earlier this year...I say had cause I've just finished burning them in. Awesome speakers that look as good as they sound. Moved back to Dali cause I was never quite happy with my previous BBC sounding monitors. The Epicon 2's are way more fun.
I've owned and still own various Dali speakers. I have Zensor 7's Spektors and a vokal in my A/v system. Love them.
If there's one thing you can say about Dali speakers it's that they are 100% dedicated to making music fun.
Thanks from Argentina for your greAt Review!!!! Planning of getting The floorstand oberon 5 to upgrade myzensor 3.. You really rock and help a Lot of people!!!!!!!!
Do you recommend these speakers for listening indie, electronic music, rock in a small room (12m2) equipped with a Rotel A11 tribute and a Rega Planar 1? I have Mission 701 that is not satisfying me
The new tower speakers Oberon 5 and 7 are incredible for the price and a strong recomedation for you guys to test. The 5 is a great compromise for balancing size/looks/sound and price. My few cents.
Noted, thanks for the tip!
Hi Andrew, the Vokal is 4ohms and the Oberon 1s are 6 ohms nominal. How would you set these up on the Integra DRX 3.4? 4ohms or 6ohms or higher?
I got a pair of Oberon 1's for a desktop setup two weeks ago and pleasantly surprised how well they sound and how easy they are to place.
Hi Andrew and Kristi,
I bought the hta9 system from Sony 6 months back. I’ve come to the conclusion that peripheral sound and surround sound is impressive in this system but I miss more bass, especially sub bass (sub 80hz).
The Oberon system exist in an active version with wireless connectivity. Have you experienced this system from Dali, and would you recommend it in regards to what I am looking for?
Thank you!
All the best
Between Dali oberon 5 and Elac debut 2.0 f6.2, which one is better choice,,and pls also let me between Yamaha aventage rx a2a and denon 2700h, which is better.
I have DALI Spektor 2 + Spektor Vokal, which are similar to these because I also need subwoofer to complete setup and have the sound I wanted!
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for this review. How do they compare to the Wharfedale Denton 85?
Thank you Andrew, also the additional comments from Kristi.
I own Yamaha WXA-50 and Dali Spektor 1, and Yamaha NS-SW050, a humble set up indeed, but it sounds so nice on my desk, my next set will be the Oberon 1 and Cambridge Audio AXR100, the sub will remains the same Yamaha.
Normally I was looking for more and more expensive speakers for better quality but I discovered that’s bullocks. Speakers like these can really blow your mind.
Thanks for the good channel!
I have a 5.1 setup with Oberon 1, the vocal and paired with a B&W 608. Happy with it so far but as you mentioned Andrew, it needs more power. Have a Yamaha rx-v385 but as planning to change to 7.1 for atmos, and stay with Yamaha, I would like to hear your thoughts on required power for the Oberons. The rx-a2a I’m looking at is very similar to the v6a you have and would probably not do it if I understand you right. What do you think would be the best Yamaha match? Maybe wait for the new Aventage above the a2a?
Hi Andrew and Kristi depending on whether the dali were new out of the box or a pair of speakers that as been around the block a while,as they need around 200 hrs burn in time they improve loads after the run in time. I have had dalis for quite some years now and never feel I am tired of any of them and as I say they improve with use.
Dali designed them to be used with the covers on If I remember correctly.
Such a nice review. And as always I'm thoroughly enjoying the conversation between you and Kristi. I hope you get to check out more DALI products.
I've got a pair of Oberon 5 tower speakers and think they are great. And especially for what I'm guestimating would be about $1000.
I have a 500 dollar budget for a stereo set of speakers at the moment. I am looking for speakers that I can, in the end, expand to a 5.1 set, buying an extra piece every time I have the money.
So my question is: is the Dali Oberon a good set of speakers?
Going from Oberon 1 to the sub, then byuing the Vokal and ending up with the Oberon 5.
Or is there another set of speakers I can apply this strategy with?
I am of course planning on going to the local hifi shop to try them.
I like this channel that despite obvious commercial side to the audio world Andrew stays true to himself and his reviews feel honest. He mentions all the flaws of products, but in a very diplomatic way.
Just watched this nice Dali review this morning, and was glad to hear you mated these little speakers with a sub.
For our new HT, I’m pairing Revel Concerta2 M16 stand mount speakers with a REL HT1003. While I was fantastically happy with the M16 by themselves, adding a sub took these speakers to a whole new thrilling level.
The M16 speakers retail at $900/pair new - but can be had for $750-$800/pair with outlet pricing.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the M16 speakers - separate and paired with a sub. They’ve received very little if any reviews, and seems not many people know about Revel.
Great review! Did you bed these speakers in first? Dali recommends 100 hours. I found after 20-30 hours my Dali's livened up quite a bit.
Nice review. I remember hearing the Dali Zensor Pico at Yodobashi Camera in Tokyo and just being in love with them for the size/cost. I’ve now got those and Zensor 5s in my living room casual system. Super sounding and nice looking.
So I'm very new to hifi and surround sound systems for home cinemas and absolutely love watching movies. I have the option to go 5.1.2 with a cheap Jamo set of speakers. But I could also go to the local Hifi store and get a 3.1 with more expensive Dali speakers and possibly expand in the future. Which path would you recommed? 3.1 and expand later or 5.1.2? I have the option to go listen to the Dali speakers in the local store but I don't know where to demo the Jamo speakers.
Thank’s for your video Andrew
I got Oberon 7 with 4x Onwall (sounds like Oberon 3) 2x Spector and Vokal and I really love them especially with REL subwoofer !!!
I mad few tests with Klipsch and SVS pack but I prefer my Dali for their « musicality »
Continue like this Andrew, I really like your videos even if I don’t anderstand every thing you say (my english is too bad for that)
Dali is an amazing company with great products. I have the dali zensor 5 ax (powered speakers) and the io4 headphones. Probably the cost in the us is higher than in europe, but honestly their products totally worth it.
I just ordered a pair, hopefully will be an upgrade from my Sonus Toy bookshelf, hopefully partners well with my Pioneer 305 receiver. I don’t play at ear shattering volumes. Personally always have loved the imaging capabilities of a monitor and partnered with a good sub should exceed a tower. Looking forward to receiving these, can’t wait, thanks to the both of you, keep up the good work!
I heard Dali at audio show a few years ago, very impressive. I'm looking forward to audition their full surround setup at my local dealer soon
Outstanding as always. I've been considering the Dali SPEKTOR 2's but my 25 year old Pardigm Studio 20's just keep going & going. And yes, it would be great if you could review a Dali floor stander. Thank you and keep up the great work.
I have the opticon 6s myself that I love (although, admittedly the polk r700 spiked my interest) and looking for bookshelves 1. For a desktop setup and/or bedroom setup for myself and 2. For some friends. I was looking at the spektor 2s when I read somewhere about these Oberons.
Thank you for your great reviews and I hope you guys get to listen to some of the mig and higher end series (opticon, rubicon and epicons for example). I had no issue with the packaging of my towers but I did notice it seemed as if they were packaged with more material and less airgap.
Love the reviews, but you know that. The chitty chat at the end elevates everything! Thx so much 🙏 zero interest in this type of speakers, but heh, it’s you guys I enjoy
Hi just want to add a few years later and my first cinema set up ,I’ve been watching you lots ,I pulled the plug and went in big with the cinema 40 because i have a laserdisc player.this would enable me to play the hundreds of 5.1 disc’s i have
but alsoi have a couple of dolby Atmos DVDs I wanted to play ,the idea was to get rid of my audiophile grade HIFi and hopefully use the marantz ,,,so i have tannoys XT-8F and love them ,so I picked the dali and they came in a package i can confirm all 6 speakers arrived completely un marked so they must have listened
How did it go ,wow even my wife was impressed although i did have to sit through top gun and take that ,sigh happy owner of a 5.1.2 system thanks Andrew
In2021, just yesterday come to me, my new Dali Opricon 2 mk 2😊 these speakers after just few hours of listenning souds amazigly great. I am so happy how they sound with my Marantz PM8006😊👍
Their logistics supplier must be terrified at the moment 😂. Being in the logistics business myself, I can only imagine Dali shitting on them from a dizzy height 🤣🤣
Yeah, even the fresh replacements looked like the boxes were ridden pretty hard and put away wet.
I have an Oberon setup and one of my Oberon 7 came in a damaged box. And I'm in Europe, so this seems to be a general problem with Dali.
Nevertheless, I couldn't be happier with the sound 😁
Thanks for the great review. It does seem you pay a bit more stateside than we do in Europe for them, which does have an effect on opinions. I personally like the Dali sound owning a pair of Oberon 5's and zensor 5's. Keep up the good work 👍.
The Dali Oberon 5 tower speakers are superb speakers
Dali speakers, at last! :)
You should really try out the Opticon 2, Kef LS50ish in size and price :)
Keep up your good work
Love dali speakers. I have a set of zensor 1 paired to a small tube amp and it has the magic.
I wish to see more Dali loudspeakers in your channel
Would be great if you could do a review of the dali oberon 7's......if you can get your hands on a pair
Hi Andrew, i ordered the deli oberon 9 with a marantz sr5015 receiver i hope you will review this speaker in the near future, because I'm curious if you like them.
One of the things I found interesting about this review is that I keep asking people what speaker I should get for good dynamics at extremely low volumes, and the answer I keep getting back is the Dali Menuet SE. Now, granted, that's a completely different price-point, but it's still a bit strange that another speaker from the same brand should have the opposite performance-to-volume curve. I'd welcome any thoughts that anyone had -- including, perhaps belatedly, any other suggestions for hyper-low-volume excellence. (The Amphion Argon 1's seem to be popular for this application as well, e.g.)
Also just a few others notes just FYI:
The speakers were tuned (voiced) with the grilles on! So the best results (for midrange) will be achieved with them on
The reason the woofer looks like that is due to materials used (paper and wood fibers) which offers great dampening and rigidity whilst keeping the cone light.
The oversized tweeter allows for a much lower crossover point.
correct. and they should NOT be toed in. they are designet to be parallel to the wall.
Thanks for your Review! I own the Obraron 7. The sound nice with my Rotel 991bx. I have a topping d50s as dac. Don you think that with vmv ds1e that has colour modes AND decide mqa i Will have an improvement on my system???? Greetings from Argentina!!!!!
I use the Oberon 1 as a surround speaker with the Oberon 7 in front, Oberon Vokal Centre and the E12-F sub - completely blown away, my ears love them. The Oberon 7's for music in stereo are absolutely sublime and in my opinion sound better without the sub. I have matched this system to the Denon X3700H which does a great job and is a good match budget wise for this set. If we follow the rule of diminishing returns there's not much need to upgrade any further. Having said that I'm going to contradict myself and admit that I have bought in the Dali Opticon 2's and Opticon Vokal (with ribbon tweeter). Can't wait to start playing but will keep them out of the system for the 100 plus hours of run in they need - they only get better.
I had the dali zensor 3 (older model of the obreron) with a budget onkyo tx-8020 + a BK xlss400 sub and was totally blown away of the quality and placement of the music for such a budget!
Really wanted the opticons but they were out of my budget. I finished my study and got my hands (after testing in store) on some second hand rubicon 5 and nad c388.
I sold my zensors to a friend and still go to him: still blown away and for a new price of 3000 for a set to the 400 to my zensors, the zensors get 80-85% of the quality and most people won't notice the difference that much! Dali puts sooo much quality in their lower tier speakers!!!
quick question i ordered the DALI oberons to go with my yamaha sw200 and my, soundblaster x7 (yeah thats prolly stupid.)
It can do
Max:
50 W + 50 W (4 ohm, 1 kHz, 10% THD)
Power rating:
37 W + 37 W (4 ohm, 1 kHz, 1% THD)
i currently use the jbl control ones and i want something better, now after seeing ur review im worried that it will sound terrible with the 37w my dac can do what do you think?
Huge DALI fan here. My Menuets are soooo god! Would really love to see a review from you Andrew of these little gems!
That's 2 votes for the Menuets.
@@KristiWright I have the Dali Menuet SE for almost a year now, and they are so great, both in looks and performance. But please note that putting them (and the other Dali bookshelf speakers closer to the back wall, will improve bass performance significantly. Would be great to see a review of you both of the Menuets :-)
I tried this speaker a year ago and generally liked it. Sent it back mainly for the reason mentioned here. Not as dynamic as I wanted, inefficient and more towards laid back sounding. Still, it could produce a seductive sound. At $600, there are other options that could work better. If ever discounted by $100, which I had seen, it could be a really great. The finish, though vinyl is the best fake wood I have ever seen.
Finally some credit for this speaker!! I have them paired with PS audio Sprout 100 for a killer desktop /tv setup.
Sorry we were late to the party, but better late than never.
How's the ps audio sprout amplifier? I have been considering to buy it but worried about the conflicting reviews
@@diegocanale1124 I haven't checked all the reviews but it's outstanding for the money. The dac and phono stage are both good too which is rare at this price. It's just a ton of fun and very versatile. It does sound like class d but if you are cool with that I say go for it. I won't be selling mine anytime soon!
Started with oberon 3. but ended up with rubicon 8. whoops.
Do you plan to test larger oberons? opticons or Rubicons? Would love to hear your take on those danish speakers 😊
Too much is just right 👍
Great review, I may consider for my office set up. You should hear the DALI Grand Coupe's, which I have in my main system. The "old" DALI before they went mass market. Clean bass that exceeds their bookshelf size and incredibly detailed midrange. The cherry veneers are absolutely gorgeous and they weigh a ton, quality throughout. Impossible to find though, I've been hunting for the floorstanding version with zero success.
A rock solid review. I bought a pair of rubicon 2 for the office but they were way too powerful for that room, I stepped down to a pair of DALI Menuets which were perfect and with being so impressed I bought Rubicon 5 for the living room which I think are incredible, however, finding an amp that can power them the way they're supposed to be driven is proving expensive. 86db and 4ohms load.
I tested the Oberon and to me the bass was a bit loose. The rubicon upgrade, although expensive, was worth the extra time it took to save up the extra money.
Great review, I use my Dali fazing sats with a bowers & Wilkins pv1 sub, sounds ace.
I got the Dali Oberon On Wall speakers in a stereo setup. I have added a sub and it sounds very very brilliant
Hi Jan, i just got the oberon's on wall as well. What subwoofer and amplifier do you have? I am waiting for the new bluesound powernode.
Marantz pm5005, Marantz na6006, and Argon bass 8
Hello, I want to know which one is better for near field listening, tannoy gold 5 or Oberon 1 plus some chi-fi class d amp such as smsl or topping. Thank you!!
I was thinking of the active version or this passive for a nearfield setup also. Will let you know if I get them.
Andrew, what would be a step up from these but with same form factor and sound style?
Hi there. Another danish man here. With zensor serie from dali. Almost same specs. As operon. In both 2 and 5.1.2 setup, and operon sound better then the old zensor, you get much for the moneys
looking for upgrade my system to genelec speakers so should gief thees a test before
Would love to see what you think of the Oberon 5s
Would it be a better by to pick these up used and pair with a amp/streamer over buying Oberon 1 C with sound hub and BlueOS?
I do want Chromecast, Spotify/Tidal Connect and ability to stream MQA.
Also: why are amps/streamers so expensive? The products people recommend often ends up making the passive version far more expensive than the active version.
The KEF LSX is going for 907 USD. For the moment. My speakers will be used in a room around 12m^2, but it would be nice if they had a little oomph to fill this small apartment in case guests come over and etc.
They will be used for music and multimedia. I think this is where the Oberon excells: they're very good at picking up tiny details, although sometimes vocals can sound a little unnatural, but that's only happened rarely and I've been testing the Oberon's for 3-4 days now
Another +1 for seeing if you can get others in DALIs line ups for review.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the icon line.
What is ur opinion on q acoustics 3000i series vs dali oberon series? Which one better
Love your reviews. Could you please review the triangle borea series?
I have them! The towers are amazing. Sounds like you needed an Emotiva XPA-3 for power
A good review as always! :) Really looking forward to what dynaudio is going to present as 45 year anniversary speaker, I need to exchange my old special 25 and given the heritage special it looks like dynaudio might be back in their old quality form! :)
We've been told Dynaudio products are in route, but so far none have arrived.
Hello Andrew, I have been watching your videos ever since I got into audio about a year ago just before I bought Elac Debut 2.0 b5.2s. Ever since then I’ve been learning more and more about audio equipment. However one thing stumps me, I got a deal on JBL studio 530s and they are a world of difference from the Elacs and different from anything I’ve heard. I was wondering if you could review the Studio 530s? Thanks, love your videos!!!
Thanks for the great review. I have the 3, vocal, alteco and subc8d. I love the speakers even with my old rxv 477. But i would like to upgrade the av receiver to a better one. Any recommendation for a proper receiver with no aspiration on getting more speakers? Since onkyo and pioneer are currently very hard to get in Europe. Thanks
Av receivers are upgradable only with 2.1 amps
I just bought these and am screwing around with different setups. So far the Yamaha A 450 and the Kenwood KA 3500 are the frontrunners for powering them. These are good enough speakers that I'm considering upgrading to a Bluesound node or similar device for wireless music.
Thanks for review. Did I understand this correctly - Oberons are less bright compared to Elac Debut Reference?
They are not bright but highs/treble are clear. I sometimes bump the treble 1db or 2 depending on the track. Maybe i have a neutral sounding amp topping mx3 🤷🏻♂️
It's funny I have so many 'better' speakers but often come back to my Dali Zensor 1's. I love their looks (grills off!) and sound. A very underrated brand.
