Pros
- Brushless motor quadcopter at a reasonable price.
- Very good and maneuverable flier at high rate. Yet nice and stable at low rate for aerial video purposes.
- Good advertised range at 300 to 500 meters. But in this video I limited the range that I was flying to just over 200 meters, as this black quadcopter gets difficult to see at that range.
- Provides telemetry warning beeps of low battery or when flying near the quadcopter's range limit.
- Includes a camera mount that accomodates most GoPro style action cameras including Xiaomi Yi and even the larger SJCAMs (I attached an SJ4000+ in this video).
Cons
- Not for beginners. Requires manual flying, is difficult to maintain orientation (all black), and does not have altitude hold. And generally, brushless motor quadcopters are just not safe in the hands of a new flier. - The stock battery is somewhat proprietary. Yet many large 7.4v batteries will fit in its battery compartment, and can be used if you can incorporate a XT30 battery plug to connect to the quadcopter.
- I had to land much earlier than the advertised 19 minutes flight time at 8 minutes 42 seconds due to low battery telemetry alert. The battery had 7.57V remaining capacity measured after landing. Also to be fair, the battery was not yet conditioned, and it was lifting the weight of a SJCAM while being aggressively flown.

Wow great flyer! Just getting into quads so I have been flying single rotor helis for a while so I fell right into it right now I have a Syma x8c and want to move on to a brushed quad I might pick this one up great footage

it's a good stable platform and cheap enough for brushless. I like the range and battery warnings. Sporty in high rate but not enough to warrant the "race" drone label on a couple of suppliers sites. It's something I might well consider.

awsome video ,,,im getting the bugs 6 and this bugs 3 next couple of months i have the bugs 2w at the moment and love it i started on syma drones but love the bugs range,,,the camera footage on that bugs 3 was awsome sooo clear ,,,so ive decided to get a cam too lol

Great quadcopter just flew mines today and I'll tell you she's a smooth flyer . And the led lights are so so bright and the light in the nose is also very bright was easy to know what was front and back at night highly recommended. Handle the winds of 8mph with ease love this quad

They fixed the problem with the top button on the gopro mount. Mine has a cut out/divit to press down on. Im Having a problem with getting the drone to Unlock...Ive looked at a lot of youtube vids on this and none mention any trouble with this. Im getting 4 beeps close to each other The pattern woulb like 121- 3 beeps. Say the 121 then a short pause and then say 3, the propellers
twitch instead of spinning/ Any help would be great

I saw on CZcams reviews using 3S batteries, sort of like the manufacturer says about their possible application.
Two questions on them.
1. Are there any restrictions on capacity? For example, up to 1200, based on the fact that 1800 in 2S,
2. Will it work with 3S remote control when discharging, notify by a squeak?
And more on the 2S and 3S batteries issue.
In the drain goes 1800 25C, is it possible to use a battery for example 30C, 35C or more? How will this affect and what will it give?

the camera mount already comes with the botton hole, just got one of these today... all around a great quad,very sporty... lots of fun...
for the gopro mount why don't you have it hooked up to your cell phone that way you can turn it on threw there??
i recently received a bugs 3 and the camera holder does have a button indent on the top of it to enable you to press the button on the camera they must of took note of your problem.
Completely off subject, but I'm looking for cheap Arial video. Would you suggest the kaideng k70c with altitude hold, or the syma x8hg. I want 1080p video with long rang. I haven't seen any range test of the k70.

Great drone , i just bought one. Have you done any testing on range alert ? I have found that at approx 200 m the weak signal alarm goes off. I wonder how much distance there is between when the alarm first begins and when you have gone too far and completely lost signal. The low battery alrm gives you plenty of time to land

QUESTION! How do you know when the batteries the AA batteries that you put inside the transmitter are getting low?! If you can't tell how often should you change the batteries thank you!
As you may guess, if the transmitter's batteries get low, the transmission range will be greatly reduced. I go through lots of batteries in my test videos. Before I load up a transmitter with batteries, I always check their charge using the following device. It's dirt cheap, but an extremely valuable and needed tool for this hobby goo.gl/UvS3Qr

I was liturally one moment before buying an XK X251 as my first step into lowcost brushless drones... But since the "new version" has no proper acromode and I just love making aerial vids and pics with my gopro sized actioncam, I guess I'll be going for this little guy :-)
7:03 It looks like the controller might be the same shell as a few others. And the button is probably for some other cheap (brushed) camera drones. Rather than a button for a camera version. It's a platform for a camera to be added, not an installed camera drone. But maybe they will make a camera drone out of it, cos they seem to have the designed part for the on board camera. The main front light as well as the button on the controller.

I ordered one of these two days ago, (ebay $100) my first thought was, this is something that might help me not abuse so many x16's .. I love em but I cant keep em.. thanks for doing the fly away test. that was a concern of mine. I know this production is brand brand new.. I hope that there are no real bug's to work out of the bug's 3? I think she will do just fine with a mobius..

I enjoy watching your videos. But as far as not being for beginners yeah took me 2 full days before I got It the hang of it. Never had a drone got the bugs 3 Sent to me by a buddy because it was to hard to fly. Luckily I’m a fast learner & have flown helicopter & airplanes used past experience to quickly learn. Landing is NOT my strong point but I’m steadily learning. Got mine January 25 & Today Is The 27th Of January & in two days I’m getting more & more comfortable. Happy Flying

Hello Quadcopter101, i noticed you mention the bayangtoys x16, ive had one for the last few months, model with altitude hold (black motors) and its a great platform to mod into a hobby grade drone.. so much room in the shell for osd fpv and adding a brushless gimbal... I'd like to see you do a review on it sometime :)

Great channel! One question, any idea if the camera mount will fit a Xiaomi Yi 4K action cam? It's got dimensions of 65 x 42 x 21mm (versus the original Yi which is 60.4 x 42 x 21.2 mm).
I doubt it. My SJ4000 was snug at 60mm width.

I've bought this, the "No camera" version. I noticed that the cable of the MJX camera appears to have the same colour-coded leads as the Syma x5 cameras........ Could I plug my Syma camera into the Bug 3 camera socket ?
I don't know, but I'd be hesitant to try it as the quadcopter uses a 7.4V battery (as compared to the 3.7V battery of the Syma X5C).

Okay, so I hear you say this is not for beginners. However, being a professional photographer that does videography, my husband bought me one for Christmas. So I have it, and it's not going back. Can you do a video going over the controls and how to control the drone. I've been practicing and I'm having a hard time. Or do you know of a video I can watch? The Bugs 3 is not an appropriate drone for beginners to learn to fly with. It is too powerful and heavy. As a beginner, you will do much crashing as you learn what not to do. Would recommend that you temporarily put away the Bugs 3, and get a cheap appropriate learn to fly drone. I think that the X8 is a bit more well made, and has longer range.
if you go out of range(not camera i am talking about quad only) does it fly away??? or does it land??? or what will happen? thanks
For this one, the motors will stop and the drone will drop like a rock if you fly out of range. BUT this one also has a telemetry warning, which causes the controller to start beeping when you get close to being out of range. If you hear the beeping, it's time to start bringing the drone closer to your position until the beeping stops.

No it does not. This definitely is not for new fliers as its powerful motors can hurt. This is meant for intermediate fliers looking for that extra oomph that beginner drones just can't provide.

Hi, I just received my Mjx bugs 3 and noticed while flying I hear a squealing sound coming from the drone. Hard to say what it is. Doesn’t change noise level with motor power changes. Has anyone heard this sound. Weird. Thanks again
Check you haven't got any loose screws, washers or clips stuck in the motor magnets.
So the downside to this is that you have to attach a camera to the drone which does not give you live feedbacks while flying. If your drone is too far away and you cant see, how would you steer or know the direction the drone is going?

Hi. great vids. I want to fly a 100g Fishing lure attached to a 20lb light weight fishing line 80 meters and drop for under £100 or as little as possible over a calm lake in low wind. Would this be possible with this drone or can you recommend cheap alternative for test and practice as may lose in my experiment. before. Sure, this quadcopter could do that. But it requires having some flying skills and experience to do such.
