I agree Sujit Sir that politicians lived by their ideology then. But at the same time they were honest too. Current day politicians don’t have ideology nor are they honest. Thats the reason to escape prosecution they are forced to join the ruling dispensation.

If 1975 was Formal,Declared Emergency then
2014,2018,is undisputed Informal Emergency.
Here is my take on a protagonist like Modi taking the Informal Emergency route.
Modi like Hitler does not like rules,Constitution and Democracy. He wants Absolute Power like Hitler.
If he declared Emergency he would be standing out in the crowd as a Dictator.
But if he enforced an Informal Emergency he can destroy Democracy from within.

From my perspective, I believe that this analysis of comparison seems to be well balanced. However, my perspective is that the leaders and politicians during Emergency of 1977 and Current periods seems to have no comparison to spotlight. The leaders and politicians who were imprisoned mid 70's were blended with some interests, probably I would say that NATION'S INTERESTS were given an apex priority. Though, the Govt led by Indira Gandhi was heading to take stringent decisions to keep the nation united as the Govt encountered certain political movements , thinking that India Gamdhi likely to transform into Dictatorship. Well, those leader like JP Narayana, George Fernandez Chandra Sekhar, Vajpayee and so on. Those leaders were well aware that they were confined to national interests. Meanwhile, on the current leaders who are defective to Ruling Party not for national interests, rather for personal milages I suppose. Interestingly, the govt is trying its level best to scan on selected leaders who may have been indulged in personal gains , while assuming office of CM. Nothing is surprising to me. All personal gains outweigh the nation's interests. School of thoughts of these two categories of politicians should be analysed by young generations.
