I feel stupid
So I was confused at first. When I thought that 8 went missing, comments helped me figure out what happened to 8. So when they tried to talk to 7, he wasn’t saying “8”, he was saying “ate”. Which brings me to this theory: Did the 7 climbers (or 6) eat the 8th climber and try to lie to police? Is 7 really telling the truth? I guess this mystery will remain a mystery.

I think the 6 other college students decided to eat number 8 and 7 didn’t agree.The other 6 ended up eating 8 anyway and number 7 also ate 8 because he didn’t want to die of starvation. Therefore, the thought of him giving in and eating number 8 drove him insane. It would also explain why the other 6 college students had the exact same alibi because they all agreed to say number 8 “went to find help”.
1-6 climbers are the eighth climber.

The 7th knew the 8th very well and was devastated when they never came back so went insane waiting. The 6 others found the 8th soon after the 7th had gone crazy, the 8th had died because the 6 ate them after getting desperate. My Answer: I think the 6 climbers ate the 8th climber because they were there for 2 weeks without food. The 7th climber though went crazy because and kept saying "8 8 8 8" because I think he had to either watch them eat the 8th climber or he just knows and it made him go crazy. Another answer is he might haven been the next one to been eaten

My answer- Mabye the 4th climber ate 8 because he said it four times in a row and the 7th climber went crazy because they went missing and saw his friend eat the 8th climber or 8th and the 7th climber was bffs and couldnt stand that he went missing OR all the climbers instead of 7 ate 8 and they all agreed to keep it a secret but the 7th climber refused and spilled out the truth.

my theory is that the 7th climber wasnt saying “8 8 8 8,“ they were saying “ate 8 ate 8“ indicating that the 7th climber ate the 8th one. as for why climbers 1-6 all had the sane answer, i’m guessing the 7th one forced the other climbers to watch as 7 ate 8, and told the rest of the climbers to lie.

I think all the climbers except the 7th climber ate the 8th climber to survive as there was no food. The 7th climber was so traumatized by seeing them all ate a human that he got mentally ill. That's why the answers of all the 6 climbers were same and the 7th climbers said 888 (ate ate ate) at the hospital to the police.
Answer:He'/she's not saying "eight" , he's/she's saying "ate eight", 7 and 8 were probably very close friends, so that could be the reason why 7 has gone completely insane.
I've heard this story and basically since the climbers were stranded for 2 weeks they needed food. They decided to eat the 8th person and the 7th person either didn't know about this and saw them eat him or he was a close friend of the 8th person and was traumatised by this.

I apparently have an unpopular opinion i think he saying 8 ate 8 over and over because the 8th climber started to eat himself due to insanity and 7 was forced to watch and they were close friends

They ate the 8th climber. A tour guide during a gradeschool fieldtrip told a similar but more heartbreaking version.
Four survivors who had been rescued from their Antarctica expedition were currently staying at a hotel. They can't go home yet because the police was still investigating the disappearance of their 5th member, who was also the 4th member's gf.
The four members decided to eat at the hotel's restaurant. The 4th member ordered penguin soup because him and the other members ate penguin meat when they were trying to survive in the Antarctic mountains. So he figured he'd be used to the taste.
But when he tasted the penguin soup, it didn't taste like the first penguin meat he ate at the mountain at all. A feeling of dread he can't explain came over him so he left before finishing his food.
He went back up to his hotel room and watch some TV to brush off the feeling. The TV showed a documentary on Antarctic penguins, saying that penguins rarely came up the mountains as they prefer to stay in the coastline and in the lowlands.
After hearing this the 4th member get his gun from the room's mini safe box or vault, and unalive himself.
At this part the tour guide asked us why the man unalive himself.
Obviously, the answer is because he came to the realization that he ate his gf.
The whole story is, while climbing an antarctic mountain, a blizzard or avalanche (I can't remember) happened and they lost their food and some gears and the 4th member passed out.
When the 4th member woke up the 3 other members were cooking and eating a meat and his gf was nowhere to be found.
His mates told him that they can't find his gf. They also told him to eat the meat from a penguin they caught. And the 4th member ate the "penguin" meat.
And he continued to eat the "penguin" meat for a few days until they got rescued.
Which would bring us back to the start.
the 6 climbers could've made up a plan to kill the 8th climber, they most likely succeeded, but the 7th climber could've gotten traumatized, and lost his mind after watching / finding out what happened, and the 6 climbers could've been planning to kill the 7th too. And with the whole 'ate' thing? The 6 climbers could've eaten the last climber and told lies to the police so that they didn't get caught. It is also possible that the 8th climber could've taken his own life out of stress, by eating his own body, and everyone got scared, and didn't tell anyone.

Well my theory is that the 7th climber didn’t pack any food or water but the others did
The other climbers only had one water for each, so they couldn’t give water/food to the 7th climber (also it was COVID 19 in my theory)
So then the 7th climber couldn’t take it anymore and went nuts,
So then the 8th climber decided that they would find a deer or a wild animal
For the 7th climber to eat. But whenever the 7th climber saw that the 8th climber was looking for something the 7th climber thought that he could possibly cook there friend alive, so the 7th climber had made a trap as soon as they could, but the 8th climber was too smart to fall for the oldest trick in the book. Little did they know that a wild and poisonous snake was lurking
For something to eat, and after that the the 2 climber had finally got some WiFi and called the hospital when they saw there friend was acting quite strange, the police then investigated the last place we’re the 8th climber was at. But sadly all they found was there backpack and a snakes skin. The 7th climber had found out what happen to there friend and they felt so depressed and felt so guilty that they hit there head on the wall so they could forget about the innocent

The Answer: The 7th climber wasn't saying "8" he was saying the word "ate", which comes to the theory that the other 6 climbers (except the 7th climber) ate the 8th climber. They were all trying to hide the truth and lied to the officer. This is why the 7th climber went crazy. Hope it helped!

He’s not saying “ate 8 ate 8” he’s still saying “8 8 8 8” while banging his head right? Well, Why was he banging his head while saying “ 8 8 8 8” my theory is that 7 went insane due to 8 committing suicide. But yet, still doesn’t explain why he was banging his head. Simple.. he killed himself by banging his head multiple times on a hard surface. Most likely to have been a rock. 7 had to watch his close friend die a slow painful death by banging his head on smth.

I think that Climber 8 went to find food or shelter but while he was coming back 7 killed him and cooked him in a fire because they needed food. Then he fed him to the other 6 without telling them what it was. I think the 6 were telling the truth and they actually didn’t know that they ate the 8 climber. 7 went crazy because he killed and ate his friend but the others didn’t because they probably just thought that 8 got lost or died while searching for food

Its actually very easy you said they lasted for 2 weeks but i doubt that they can survive that long and i think 7th is the relative or best friend of 8th so thats why their completey insane,and 1-6th climber tried to hide the truth for the fact they ate him because the 7th climber wasnt saying "8" its "ate"

When the 7th climber was saying 8 x4 it was Ate x4 instead of 8.. Eating the 8th climber was drove into sanity after they ate them and needed to be put into a mental hospital by doing so.
He was saying “ate” all the other climbers killed climber number 8 and 7 just watched while they ate number 8. He starved and went insane from the sight of it. They must’ve also had some food cause they decided to climb a high mountain. And a human can last two weeks without eating. So I bet they boiled snow for water and ate the food they had. It probably lasted about 2-3 days. 14-2 is 12 and I bet all the other people were hungry but 7 refused to eat number 8. What do you think?

If the 6 climbers ate them, there must be some sort of test through which it can be proved. Like, you ate pasta last night, so through some tests, you can tell that you ate it. So, here is the same case. It isnt a long hidden fact from the police

On a mountain, where 8 friends[I'm in one's perspective] and we are stuck on a mountain..So he find a little crack which we see a little girl in.We wave at her where she just smiles and then realize there's no one to get there...
Then we look back at her and she just gives a creepy smile and vanishes.Scared, one of the girls jumps.It seems she falls on a rock and dies.But then the others[including me] jump and fall into the water underneath safely[Minecraft logic?] And then start swimming but something was holding me back, something like a leg, and they all just got scared even more and swam off and I got pulled into the water.
