  • I was hunting for portable monitors and I stumbled upon the brand called ZSCMall. They seem to be the OEM for the ASUS ZenScreen. So, I bought one to try it out.

    Currently on the search for a portable mentor and I stumbled up on your videos. They have been super helpful in helping me deduce what I am looking for and what monitors aren’t worth the time. Thanks for making these videos!

    im already use this portable monitor for a few month, the picture quality yeah not so good same also with the speaker, but im only used it with daily light software usage like internet browsing, microsoft office like word, power point and excel etc and im not using it for heavy usage like video editing etc. i really like the portability of it just using type c cable to power up the monitor no need any cable for charger. So far im using it almost everyday and very useful during my outstation day.

      Myself as well - text screens, couldn't care less about color, it was cheap, it works with one cable. I'm using a chopstick instead of the case. Macbook. No battery: I wonder if the battery one has a different USB-C configuration.
      Great video: I'm sharing the frustration of there being no website and clear manufacturer, I just want to find out what screw was used on the case (that's how I wound up here), and can't.

    Whew this is already added to my cart, glad i saw ur video. Theres also one i saw, the Wistino Portable Monitor. Still researching on that too before purchasing one. But might end up with Asus or Viewsonic for peace of mind. Lol

    Thank you for this video. Almost bought this brand. I had a feeling something was off. Good thing for your vid. Thanks! I hope you find a recommendable portable monitor soon so I can purchase the same. More power to your channel

      Thanks my dude. Glad we could help out.
      As for portable monitor, there's no "best" portable monitor in the market right now. Each of them has its own set of pros and cons.
      I end up getting the ViewSonic TD1655. It's the one that suits my needs the most.
      Our review of it here: czcams.com/video/YZwrxxGjqN8/video.html
      There's a non-touch screen version called the ViewSonic VG1655, by the way.

    Buying online, is always a risk bcos there is no inspection from buyer at all.
    I decided to put on hold after watching your video....
    Many thks.

    I have 2 portable monitors:
    1.) 10" 2560x1600 from Eyoyo. Decent display, 60hz. Non touch, non battery. I use it for a CCTV camera. Good little guy.
    2.) 8.9" 1920x1200 from Zeuslap. 60hz. With touch, no battery. This one I use for Samsung Dex. Display quality is really good.
    I bought a similar 8.9" touch display from Wistino. GOD AWFUL. It was a 16:10 ratio, but only accepts 1920x1080. So the ratio was fked from beginning. The color gamut looked like variants of gray. Brightness half of the Zeuslap. Screen coating super reflective, and the screen was visibly farther from the top glass than Zeuslap's version. The touchscreen did work but there's some small build quality issues. I thought it was made similarly to the Zeuslap but it basically looks like a D tier copy.
    Basically, the portable monitor industry especially here in Asia is wild wild west but you can find gold in some products or get robbed at gunpoint in some. I returned the Wistino one. Zeuslap is active again so maybe one day I'll get a new one from them.

      It's quite sad to see this happening, really. Seems like Wistino and ZSCMall are both famous OEMs of portable monitors - and they both suck.

    Thank you for your review... indeed we bought one too and true it is faulty and I am returning it today. I believe you are right, these are the rejected products by Asus. Thank you and keep on the good work. Any good one to recommend?

    They must have fixed some of the problems, because I have one and it only takes one USB-C port and it doesn't seem to matter which one. Also, it comes on as soon as it gets a signal and the colors don't look bad at all.

    • @TechCritter
      @TechCritter  Před rokem

      Does it save the settings even when it is powered off and on back again?

    • @TimothyFish
      @TimothyFish Před rokem

      @@TechCritter, I don't know. I've never had any reason to go into the settings. I just plug in a USB C cable and it works.

      Maybe look for Arzopa or even the Mobile Pixels Duex if you want to mount it to your laptop

    Hello, good day! how to retain the audio in the source either laptop or phone while using this ZSCMALL portable monitor? The problem is whenever I connected the portable monitor to either a laptop/phone it loses its audio on the main source yet transferring to the portable monitor.

    Hi. Thanks for the review. I am considering to buy between ZSC and COTIN, but the later seems have good review. I would like to hear your opinion on COTIN D20 or Wistino BK-15.6 (both non-touch) which have similar price range with ZSC

    • @TechCritter
      @TechCritter  Před 3 lety +1

      From what I have gathered, the non-touch version should have better colors but still bad OSD menu settings.

    How many hours it took for the monitor ran out of battery? Do you think the touch screen feature supports stylus pen?

    • @TechCritter
      @TechCritter  Před 3 lety

      About 2 hours max, and for stylus support - only those capacitive stylus pens. No pressure sensitivity.

      Any monitors from the ASUS ZenScreen series is good.
      You can also consider the ViewSonic TD1655.

    too bad u have returned this monitor already , if not i would have asked u to test the HDMI from laptop to the Mini HDMI on the ZSCmall monitor and confirm it the touchscreen work on that interface , cause it seem the touchscreen only works via USB Type c and not Via HDMI, i wish i can have an answer to that , thanks and have u found a new touchscreen with battery monitor , pls share with us

    • @TechCritter
      @TechCritter  Před 3 lety +1

      HDMI don't carry touch control signal, so touch screens will only work with USB mode.

      @@TechCritter so if i may ask , what if my mini pc has just HDMI and USB TYPE 3.0 , can i still use this and get the touch functions , cause i got the mini pc with intel J4125 cpu and thinking of getting one of these , look forward to ur answer , thanks

    • @TechCritter
      @TechCritter  Před 3 lety

      You'll need to connect to the monitor via USB for touch functionality. I don't know if the Intel J4125 can output video and data via USB-A (some can) which might save the hassle of having two cables connected to the monitor.
      Also, I've gotten the ViewSonic TD1655. I accepted the fact that all portable monitors have its own set of disadvantages.
