Classic Match! Hibernian 6-2 Heart of Midlothian (22/10/2000)

Mixu Paatelainen scored a hat-trick as Hibernian thrashed Hearts 6-2 in a SPL classic at Easter Road. Hearts took the lead through Andy Kirk after just five minutes but goals from Paatelainen, David Zitelli, John O'Neil and Russell Latapy put Hibernian 6-1 up, before Colin Cameron grabbed a late consolation for the visitors. Hibs finished the season in third place, qualifying for the UEFA Cup, while Hearts finished in 5th place.

It IS on of my favourite derby-games (after the 0-7 thrashing !) but it illustrates our historical problem of 'Inability to kill games off !' - we could've (and ehould've !) got into double figures in this game - had we been as piss-poor as them (unlikely - we've had bad reams but NEVER as bad as them !!) they wouldn't have taken their feet off the pedal !
