Bettman is just the face if the owners. His job is to take the heat for doing what they want. For being their face.
I'm an 88 my brother who is a 92 never used a wood stick past being 10
Jesse for next Commissioner! His recent cup drive is his resume.
The Devils will win the Metropolitan Division crown with a 53-20-9 record in their 1st season under new head coach Sheldon Keefe next season.
Keefe will be even better now that he's in the "real NHL". I guess!?
@@benoitchagnon7283I’m a bruins fan Keefe will actually do really well there probably there’s not as much pressure, it’s not toronto, Boston, Montreal or NYR plus he has a pretty decent team, the Atlantic is going to be stacked this year though it’s gonna be a wild year
😂😂😂
Sheldon Keefe ..lmao dude couldn’t win a series with a much better team
@@TheHowMan68man you’re a clown
10:13 as a Canes fan, I can confirm they took a step back in early free agency. They need to field two 50-pt rookies to be a significant threat at this point.
Agreed, I was going to say similar. Unless they pull something off with an early trade, they are not as strong for this upcoming season.
Just throwing this out here but I'd love a former player to take the reins as Commissioner. What better way to take the league into the future than with someone who understands completely what could be better about the on ice product?
I know it'll never happen, but I for one would kill for, say, Jaromir Jagr to be the next Commissioner of the NHL
I don't see much change with wood vs Carbon fiber stick. The biggest differences.. it's lighter... and it may take a little longer to break.. but it still will... either way, it's not that much lighter... (at least not the ones' I've handled)... for me to see a great one to see a noticable change... as was pointed out... The Great One and Super Mario never played with them... Sid and Ovi probably started with Wood and changed later... greatness just is.. better tools just makes things different..
wood sticks are much heavier in the context of your playing your hardest and it tires you out faster to move something heavier but the main thing is they dont flex nearly as well so your shots will be softer and less controlled compared to a composite stick
I nominate myself as the new commish
Michkov mania is coming to the Metro. Flyers will most likely still be bad but will certainly be exciting.
I just want them to get rid of the digital ads on the boards and the ice and the ads on the jersey.
YES
EFFING YES!!!!!
honestly keep him... terrified of the next equity executive on route.
Winning the Metro and winning either the President's Trophy are not one & the same, nor are winning the Metro and the Conference the same thing (if that's what Adam was implying, not sure if that's what he meant)
that said, it's not impossible if the Devils fly and/or the goalie tandem Hearst and by the end of the season
adam the realest one
The reality of the situation is Gary Bettman is not going to retire until after the next CBA is agreed to and signed.
its more about the defenses having wood sticks back then, not mcdavid or WG shooting with em.
50 goals 99 assist
"Will the Devils win the Metro"
Me, a Devils fan: no. Next question.
Brad Marchand for head of player safety 2030 🐻
Matt Rempe as his successor
Bettman is not the issue. Bettman is not even AN issue, IMO. He's presided over the expansion of the league from 21 to 32 teams, greater revenues, and a better game in many respects. He gets a bad rap, I think, because a Canadian team hasn't won a Cup in 30 years and the labor issues of the past.
Devils take the Metro.
McDavid would probably comes to close to what he does now with a toothpick or a straw broom, let alone a wooden stick. He's that good.
To contribute to the mcdavid wooden stick conversation, i think the biggest detractor would be the shooting ability. Mcdavids shot would be softer and his release would be wayyy worse. Id say 140 points with 110+ assists is likely.
Also, McDavid is gonna be higher on the all time great list than crosby, and i love crosby. 97 is just too freakish.
Islanders will win Metro..Roy full year..we got the Duke!…healthy de …new PK coach.. you will all see
...and his stick wouldn't break as often. Who in the NHL breaks the most sticks during play?
Change the fkn playoff format back to 1-8. That would make me love the lloser Betman for another season.
Deal: put Bettmen on the cover of NHL 2025 if he retires
Matthews has already missed more games in his short career than Ovis entire career. No chance, and at his peak Matthews was not better
retire: YESTERDAY
Replacement: a slime from another world or any random hobo
Caps will win the Metro!!! Their goaltending just got better adding Logan Thompson to complement Charlie Lindgren. Their defense just got better adding Chychrun/Roy to Carlson, Fever, Sandin, Alexeyev, Bear. OV is still capable to score 30 - 40 goals, PLD will be a much better fit with the Caps than he was with the Kings, so he will easily surpass the 40 pts total he had(I feel he will put up a career high in points!) Tom Wilson will bounce back production wise. Strome will be giving consistent production or even be better. The other adds(like Mangiapane) plus the younger group(will have breakout seasons). There will be for sure more scoring from the back end and overall goal scoring will have a big jump(no 100 pt player, but far better goal scoring balance). Last season these Caps played everyone in their division well despite having a rookie coach and young inexperienced players. The Caps will shock a lot of ppl! Devils could turn the corner, but is Markstrom prepared to play in a much tougher division than the Pacific? Canes, I could see a drop off from last season due to the players they lost.
Hope you're right. The Rangers and Canes will dip a bit. Jersey will definitely make the playoffs next season.
bro 🤦♂️🤦♂️ lmfao
Agreed. People are sleeping on how improved Washington is. They think the quantity of moves is the only thing noteworthy about the team, overlooking how deep they've made their roster and how much they improved with the subtractions of Kuznetsov, Pacioretty, Mantha, Kuemper and sad to say Oshie who was never 100%
@@mkrcivoj Rangers will not be the President's Trophy winner again(they were only 4 points clear of 2nd overall, as there was about 5 teams that could have won that meaningless trophy). They are too much revolved around Shesterkin's play. Don't get me wrong as Shesterkin is one of best goalies(both regular season and the playoffs), but the reason they didn't go -further was they went 7-0(sweeping the Caps and being 3-0 on the Canes) and nose dived from there. Shesterkin and their PP was the only reason the Rangers weren't knocked out earlier.
@@mikeb.2925 As a Caps fan that is perfectly fine with me. The Caps play better as a team playing under the radar. Most ppl don't look at the history of how Spencer Carbery coached at the AHL level. He coached the Hershey Bears for 3 years where the roster was under manned in terms of player talent. He still coached them into the AHL playoffs, but Hershey exited early.
1st year coaching the Caps, Carbery got a lot out of his roster to work hard and be a team hard to play against despite the lack of goal scoring. With the roster changes for this coming season, goal scoring will most definitely increase to make them a better team and take some pressure off OV.
pittsburgh might win the metro
Bettman should be replaced with Steve Dangle. This way it can finally stop being ... Not a Hockey League!!
I'm not convinced goaltending for the Devils was as big an explanation as was letting go of Damon Severson in order to make more room for youngsters who were'nt fully ready yet to carry such a massive workload. You then add those issues in front of the net and the overall injuries and that's where you land. They've fixed the goalie thing, but is their defense back to the cohesiveness they had when Damon had it all glued together ? Remains to be seen.
I agree some of it was Hamilton being hurt and putting it all on our 19 year olds, but undeniably after looking at the numbers league wide, the devils had the 2 worst goalies of any team with Schmid and Vanecek, watching every single game you can't find one game were the goalies stole a game or even Hold up like most, if not all goalies can and should. The devils had to out score and comeback almost every single game
And I think the blue line is 10 times better already, Hughes and Nemec (although did have there rough moments as rookies do) were good players, they showed that they will be making bank next year
Someone was going to pay Severson 6.25M/yr and it sure as hell wasn't going to be the devils.
this sounds construed in a way like they were ready to can him no matter what just to force rookies into the lineup; a severson extension didn't make sense for either parties and in a list with what exactly went wrong for the devils, letting severson go specifically wouldn't even rank in the top 5
@@cross27hunter If you need to find redeemness in a goalie stealing the game, it means your defense has failed in the first place. It's a balance thing, they go with the other. Schmid and Vanecek aren't that bad, but in the few games where they could've had those very good (not to say stealing) saves people would remember, they ended up suffering other waves that canceled out those initial moves. Schmid and Vanecek could have done better and so did that young defense that needed Hamilton.
I do agree with you it's already looking much better overall but it's a tough tough division and there's quite some way to come back from for those Devils. Talent is there, let's hope for them it clicks right away.
Absolutely silly question. Only way the League can grow and improve is if Bettman gets over himself and retires.
But they are growing... They don't need to cater to people who don't even watch sports.
No chance Gary Bettman Retires. I wish he would, but it's not going to happen.
Joe Biden.
He should’ve been gone 10 years ago, replace him with someone who knows hockey
literally only first like 2 years of McDavid as a kid would've been with a wood stick, absolutely goofy statement by Boomer Adam
Bettman has ruined hockey. The NHL was so much better before he took over. I used to love hockey back in the 1980's. I have lost interest in the last 30 years, and I don't plan on tuning in again until Bettman is finally gone
31 years? Steering this ship, he should have been fired 30 years ago when he proved to be useless.
He’s too old. His thinking is off and has too much power. Need it spread out his decision making. He’s making it look rigged.
Should Gary Bettman Retire yes maybe then canada will a stanley cup
bettman needs 2 b gone asap......he is ruining the NHL, no wonder nba celebrated when he left.... he cares nothing about the game, fans or international hockey... owners boy.....
Bettman does the bidding of the NHL owners he won't go anywhere
100% Gary Bettman should retire...
