The only reason why Brady outranks him is because QB is a much more impactful position to the game than a DT. Don't get me wrong, Aaron Donald is THE most dominant player at his POSITION in all of football, but that doesn't necessarily correlate to the most impactful. Definitely did deserve #2 over Rodgers however, but Brady is the system. They could've been a much better team if Bruce Arians was not there those two years.

I love Donald but he's not the greatest defensive player. The greatest DT, yes and that's saying something but Reggie White is the greatest defensive lineman ever. Lawrence Taylor is the greatest disruptor of all time. Aaron is unbelievable and to mention him with those guys is crazy but what they did was insane. Reggie White had faster straight line speed and tossed olineman. He slowed later but his speed to power was unmatched, even by Donald. LT's acceleration and speed and tenacity can not be antiquated. Again, this takes nothing away from Donald, he is the best defender in the last 30 years.

Aaron Donald is a straight up monster. As a seahawks fan, it's always rough watching our team play the Rams twice a season every season (BECAUSE OUR OLINE SUCKS) what more can I say. Dude is strong, fast, smart, agile, mobile, hostile, and a true game changer. Makes life easier for his secondary when he can put that much pressure on a qb.

Every level of his play is off the charts. In addition to everything else he does, I think the aspect people don't talk about enough is that he really doesn't miss tackles. If you have the ball and AD gets his hands on you, there's no escape. The play is over.
It's not the sexiest stat, but you're right and it's probably one of the things that's been sorely lacking throughout the rest of the league lately. It's crazy that he does all the modern stuff so well that we overlook that his fundamentals are flawless.

Guy gets double-teamed and is usually smaller than the offensive line 9 times out of 10. Still out muscles out speeds and still gets to the quarterback almost all the time. He WILL be in the Hall of Fame. Simply the best defender in the league and of Our Generation.

Isn’t it crazy how on that final defensive stop during the Super Bowl how many of us thought to ourselves, “Aaron Donald’s gonna do something here.” I said it out loud, my mother did, Coach Sean did, and so many of us Rams fans who recorded their live reactions to that play said it aloud.
There's 2 things many don't mention when comparing LT and AD as the best ever. 1 LT was a outside linebacker/defensive end. And 2 olineman are much better in today's Era than way back than. That's not taking away from what LT did but you gotta realize Donald does what he does from the INTERIOR of the line not the edge or the outside. Sure he lines up on the edge sometimes but he does most his damage with not 1 but 2 olineman REGULARLY blocking him and still gets to the qb.
