+Fredy Sanchez Lol a gain of 100 hp is actuallpretty good for an 4 zil. Keep in mind they build it as a daily driver or at least something that will last long. Ofc they could get 200 to 300 hp out of it but they would have to inspect it every week and it probably wont last 2 years.

+archinuk417 Dont think so. The turbocharger itself costs 8 to 10k. And if u at least know a lil bit about cars, just slaming a turbo in it wont work. U have to overwork the entire engine and change all the moving parts specificly the pistons, cuz they arent suposed to handle 300hp.
+Levin Be It depends on the kit. Some forced induction kits are a simple bolt on and don't require new internals. I'm assuming that this kit was one of those since the gains are only 100 hp. More of the money went into trying to spice up the interior.

there is no way this "build" cost $50,000, and if it did well.. then the body shop you took it to wanted your wallet. nothing about this car screams "amazing" or awe inspiring in the least. this looks more like something a kid would build.. bolt on supercharger, $2,000 in wheels, $3,500 into a body kit, and last but not least a roll cage that frankly wont save you in the event of an accident and is aesthetically there for looks only. I wasn't going to mention the gt wing but yeah.. its pointless. for $50,000 the owner of this car could have went full LS or 2JZ swap and actually made use of those larger diameter wheels and larger rubber contact patch.

+Ryan Brix Yeah its all in paint and bodywork. I work in collision and paint and ive seen peoples bills go up very quick. Id say around 10k in paint and bodywork for this. Maybe more depending on which shop did it

Im quite sure the paint alone ran anywhere from 5-10,000.
Car most likely was brand new when painted, as are most sponsor cars. So Body work for painting probably didnt add much money.

"Only 200 horsepower"... sure, if you compare it to the other cars you drive that's not a lot, but you seem to be a little spoiled by all of your high performance V8s and stuff. In my country it costs a shitload to insure a car. mine, with "only" 122 horsepower already costs a ton, that's why so many people drive around in 80-100 hp cars. Don't get me wrong, I love your Lamborghini and S550, but just appreciate the smaller engines a little more. And no, I'm not a hater. The opposite! Keep up the great reviews!
In the US in general, commuter sedans from even ford and Chevy have options to come with over 300 hp. My first car wasn't a sports car but it had over 240 hp. Then cars that are considered sporty even at their base level come with nearly 300 hp. With that and the comparatively lower cost of insurance it's far easier for younger drivers to get cars with substantial horsepower. The whole "the frs is slow" complaint is somewhat valid in that context.
+Macintoshmani12 United States is also way more spread than most countries.. If you live in any Asian country and even some places in Europe it's pointless to have more than 100 hp because there isn't any freeways and everything is so close that's why your insurance is so high. For example San Diego county alone is 4,526 miles.sq, and its extremely in convenient and dangerous to try to drive a 80 mph vehicle in 45-70mph speed limit zones for hundred miles or so a day. Also there isn't very good public transportation in the US the bus system is currently terrible, while most Asian and European countries have extensive and excellent public transportation leading to their governments discouraging driving and hiking up insurance.
+Macintoshmani12 200hp is not really all that much at all. My first car the RX8 came with 235 hp. and my Xfire with 215 (that was when it was stock. It's not so stock anymore) and even my mother has a 3000gt vr4 that has 320ish hp.
Those are more sporty cars though. We used to have the Nissan Altima SL that comes with 270hp stock and that a 4 door family car lol
The FRS is not that fast of a car at all, it is made to look pretty, and have fun in the turns, not in a straight line.
My 1st car was an 18 yo standard family saloon and was faster then a brz, then a I spent less then a k on suspension upgrades and it could go round corners faster then my mate in his brz anyway 😂

This car was in the Washington car scene for quite awhile. The owner apparently bought a few cars from Phantasy Kolors and waited a really long time to ship the cars to his home. I'm glad to see they went to a good home and honestly if I wasn't already paying on 2 car loans, I would have jumped on this ebay listing. I would have strongly considered if this car was about 45k-50k, not 70k though. That's GTR money.
As for a young kid "owning" the car, I don't agree with that, because he won't really have any sense of value and what it means to build a car from the ground up, or even work for several years to afford something. You can't teach that, it has to be learned the hard way.

All of that 50k didn't go straight to the the motor tho. It has a custom interior for fucks sake. Those rims and tires probably cost a pretty penny. And I don't even wanna know how much time was spent getting the car to where it is right now.

+Luke Thompson If it was me I would have just saved up more and gotten a better car like C63, Audi S7, or a F-type those are all way better buys and in almost the same price range. I think he could have done an engine swap if he really wanted power and kept the exterior more subtle but it's his car if he likes it like that then what am I to judge.

Compare the Hellcat with 707 HP to the Porsche 911 Carrera with 380 HP. The Carrera needs around 4,5 sec to 100km/h, and the hellcat needs around 4 sec to 100km/h. Even tho it has like 300 HP more, it is not even a second faster, than the porsche. And the costs for these cars are almost the same.

I wonder what the purpose of this rollcage is, yeah it's a rollcage, so it makes your car a little bit safer when you flip, but isn't it supposed to be higher then your head for it to be REALLY safe?
He said "As a 4 cylinder it doesn't sound all that great", Im bringing this up because its not just any old 4 Cylinder, Its has a BOXER Engine which sounds freaking AMAZING with a slight rumble! I had to bring this up because Boxer Motors sound awsome and are reliable unlike alot of other motors, They are also Awsome motors for performance due to low center of gravity and low vibration plus other things that will have this comment(that I wanted to be short lol)wayyy to long. It's on drilled rotors, and nice ones at that, but yeah that's really odd to just do the front at that point.

why is it running two different sets of tire sizes if the rims are the same, can you just run the same tire for all four rims?
He's probably running a staggered tire setup to fill out the fenders, as well since the car is rwd, the bigger tire at the back will help with traction.

He didn't drop 50k on it, it was on Craigslist in the bay area for 38k and so was the green machine frs for 36k both by the same owner, both painted by phantasykolors, they were up for almost a year befor they sold. They just kept taking them off for a month or two and putting them back up

Not a huge fan of FRS/BRZ cars but besides the decals this car was very tastefully modified.
