  • I finally get ahold of both the V6 Chevy Camaro RS and the V6 Dodge Challenger SXT and test them out to see who's faster from 0-60. This battle of the V6's is anyone's game. Who do you think will come out on top?

If you're in the market for a v6 challenger/charger/camaro/mustang, 'which one is the fastest' shouldn't be a question you're asking. It doesn't matter what's the fastest of the slowest trims, buy the car you think is the most comfortable/best looking

Literally what I was looking for when I picked out my Challenger. I wanted AWD so an SXT was a must, and I was mostly buying it for the looks. Doesn't hurt that it has a decently fast engine in it either, but wasn't what my focus was at, I was buying it for looks and comfort. my next car - after i retire the rsx in a couple years - is definitely going to be an american muscle. i'll be closing into my 50's by then and don't mind paying more for gas.
additionally, with the accumulated knowledge - generally speaking - of cars gathered over the years, i'm feeling great owning a true performance car that won't break my bank.
i've come down to 3 cars that i've always loved and admired for many years - mustang, camaro and challenger. the challenger - design wise - holds a special place in my heart but i've always been a ford fan.
the camaro is probably last on my buy list but nonetheless still a highly desirable vehicle.
why don't i want to buy a japanese or european performance vehicle one may ask? i'm no car enthusiast and i don't mod cars. stock american performance cars simply have that robust, raw power to them that the japanese and european cars lack.
last but not least - comfort. american cars are just so comfortable to sit in for long periods of time. haha i am getting old.

Not the typical scenario from what I've personally seen, but nice comparison nonetheless. I have a 2018 RS V6, and have raced a few cars including a newer Charger Daytona 5.7. In those particular runs it was basically dead even overall. On the V6 Camaro I've found best results are achieved by turning off the advanced traction control and foot braking till 1500-2000 rpm, then controlling wheelspin with your right foot. Makes a huge difference in the 0-60 times. I know the on-board timer is different, but I've got a best of 5.1 a few times on stock tires.

I have always hated the look of the new Camaros, it's like they tacked on every body cue from all the older ones and it doesn't work for me. I'd take the Challenger on looks alone even if it's slower.
I think they claimed my 06 Charger RT was supposed to do 0 to 60 in about 5.5 seconds with 350hp and a bunch of torque so that Camaros engine is probably pushing what they claimed, just less torque.
You should try the 4 banger turbo just to see how it runs. Might be a good option for folks that like the body style but want much better mpg in a daily with some power as well. Hell, I wish I could get better than low 12 average in my car but I love how well it moves for such a pig when I get on it occasionally. I turned the traction control partially off and went to go around a very slow garbage truck because I had two lanes and it dropped a couple of gears and I swear started to haze the tires as it got to work, surprised me as it was dry and hot that day 😎

I knew the Camaro had the advantage due to horsepower and lighter weight, but what I am surprised is the actual results between the two. Considering the Challenger is 500bls heaver and 25 less horsepower, a -25 sec. difference is actually quite impressive. I'd still preferer a v8 trim Challenger over a v6 trim of course. With that, the Pentistar V8 is producing some surprising results. The Camaro V6 produces 284bls feet of torque, and the Pentistar, 268. For the Pentistar to have less torque and less horsepower and only have a -25 sec deficit is quite impressive! Excellent comparison video Racer X! Great job!
