V6 Challenger/Charger Exhaust Sound Great Like V8 Hemi?

- How do you make a 3.6L V6 Pentastar Charger, Challenger, Chrysler 300 or Durango exhaust sound great! closer to a V8 Hemi? In this I will talk about a few mods you can do to help your V6 sound a little closer to the v8 hemi. Many Mopar owners love their rides and are looking to mod for a little more HP and sound. In this video I have some suggestions for the V6 Pentastar owner to squeeze out more HP/Torque and make a V6 charger or challenger sound close to a v8 hemi. Its hard but I have seen it done with the right mods in place.

What do you think about a flowmaster outlaw with the middle muffler?
Wonder how the 3.5 in my journey will sound with the rear mufflers gone? Same or not good?
Would be great if I used Coffin ⚰️ Muffler 2.5 I still have 3 cats V6 no resonators?
The big boz 4 sounds great my challenger gets a lot of looks. Love my challenger
@@ChrisAbrams-xd3jl So it sounds like a hot rod, but it isn't.
i love my v6 challenger.
has all the power i need looks like a badass car and gets 20+ mpg and these days that matters!
hemi is nice but comes with a price!
v6 for me all the way
Hard to argue about fuel mileage
The V6 doesn't make sense. I average 24mpg with my 09 Hemi 300.
@@nicholas440 that depends on the daily commute if it's worth it or not going 20-30 miles one way it's not a big deal going 70-80 miles one way makes a big difference.
I live in a really snowy area and wanted something AWD for my daily. The 300 v6 AWD was good to have a factory/dealer warranty. I was also looking at the pursuit chargers with AWD and the 5.7 but didn’t find any deals I felt were worth it at the time and it didn’t have the bells and whistles.
The 6.4 is a thirsty premium drinking pig. The r/t isn’t really bad and runs fine on 87. Unless you’re driving a really long commute if you do the math it’s not much more expensive in fuel per year. It’s worth it, it’s just a great daily driver. The 6.4 not so much unless you work close to home. I had to decide between the 5.7 and 6.4 twice and both times the 5.7 was the clear winner. Neither are race cars and so many cars quicker than both, the 5.7 gives the enjoyment and practicality. What you save getting the 5.7 can go towards the plus package Harmon Kardon stereo and other enjoyable options.
I love Exhaust Addicts' channel. They have a lot of great comparison videos.
I have a 2012 v6 Charger. I did a resonator delete and put on Flowmaster Outlaws. Loud as hell, and I get compliments often. I'm kind of tired of it now. It was fun for a while
Does it drone
@sneak diss 510 big time and it is annoying at times, but I have 12s in the trunk
@@demetrismith2311 did any of the v6 models come with the factory kicker 12? Jw being my old 09 srt8 challenger did. Which I thought was quite odd being how hard it hits for something the factory installed.
That's how I am now. I put a custom exhaust on my 5.3 Silverado and it got old quick. Did the same to my Mercedes C-class and it sounded sweet for about a week. I'm not even gonna mess with the V6 in my Jeep. I added a CAI and am getting old enough now that I prefer the quiet exhaust. Especially in the mornings.
He said you shouldn’t do a resonator delete just for that reason
Thanks for dropping this vid a year ago. I'm just discovering it today as I have recently bought a Chally SXT and wanted to make it a little louder. Awesome content and learned a lot, thanks!
Glad I could help!
Outstanding video! You helped me out tremendously. I can now make an informed decision to modify the exhaust on my 21 Challenger GT. Hate the "rasp".
Awesome 💪
2013 Dodge Challenger . We changed out the mid mufflers for two vibrant bottle type mufflers. We deleted the rear mufflers and kept the factory tailpipes. Catalytic converters are still present from factory. Also, the 2013 Dodge Challenger 3.6l does have a true xpipe. We did remove the factory xpipe for a Jones xpipe from summit for $40. Total cost in parts: Vibrant bottle type mid mufflers: $60 total(new EBAY) Jones xpipe 2.25 diameter $40. $100 in parts. New 2.25 pipes from xpipe to the rear tailpipe’s $250 total. Altogether, spent $350. Better gas mileage as the car is breathing better(flow of the exhaust out). Sounds incredible. This is my daily driver.
I'd love to see you post a video of this build. How much better gas mileage have you seen, too?
@@Z.DeAllen Hello Allen. We are seeing about a 3 mile per gallon improvement as long as we keep our foot out of it. This car is also Diablo Sport tuned. We have a K&N type air filter(non oil, washable) installed. No CAI. I wasn’t able to video the install as I was in the waiting are. All parts welded
I to put the vibrants in the mid and removed the rear mufflers. Sounds just right! I saw the setup here on CZcams.
@@g3attack Oh, have fun and stay safe.
Nice vid. I had my mids deleted and have the 2 Flowmaster 10's in the rear muffler position. They sound great at start up, idle and running down the road. Then I added a cold air intake. Now she just sound suuuuper awesome. Thanks for the V6 love in this vid bro. We love our 6's!!!
Right on
Sounds horrible. U just don’t know but as long as u like it that’s all that matters
I’ve always thought resonator delete and super 10’s but I think I’ve changed my mind 🔥😁 sounds amazing!🙏
Just replace the Mid Muffler with Vibrant Mufflers will sound amazing
agree 100% this is the way to go with a v6
Your intro to your channel is on point now
That nitrous bottle tho 💨
Thanks bro definitely been trying to figure out a good one lol🙏💪💨💨
First time watcher and I enjoy the video 🫡 I have a 2017 dodge charger sxt I got track pack, catback exhaust with j pipes and I absolutely love it. I think like most people I love my exhaust and think it sounds better than any I saw on this video for I completely agree for best bang for you buck you can just to a back muffler delete and it sounds pretty good
Now I’m convinced I have the best sounding V6
This is a very informative video 💯💪🏾thx bro I took notes for my V6 and I'm going with the flow-master super 10's
Do you have a charger can you send me the link you used to get the super 10
I had the total flow 314633 on my 4th gen with the 5.7. There was a slight drone after it got broke in but not bad. I took it off when I sold my truck. I got a local shop to install it on my 5th gen 5.7. They installed it further forward than the stock location and I'm glad they did. There is no drone at all. It's not as loud as it was on my 4th gen was but it sounds great, deep and mellow.
Awesome information 👍
Hi , whats the part number of vibrant performance resonators ?
I have a 2019 GT and did the rear muffler delete. I'm very happy with it. I know it doesn't sound like a V8, and I'm not trying to get it to-just wanted a little rumble and tone. It beats spending around $1500 for one of these cat back systems that leaves the car sounding basically the same as the muffler delete.
Good thinking... My Challenger sxt AWD came with a muffler delete and resonator delete. I wanted to sound like a V8 so I bought a borla Atak. Super quiet and was disappointed, went to the muffler shop and chopped the mid muffler and resonator again 😆
That's for sure
I also have a GT! Do you get a lot of drone with your muffler delete? I was thinking of getting it too
How is drone with the rear muffler delete?
@@ayitsthunder7974 not bad at all
I have super tens in mine I love the way it's sounds
My ‘23 SXT Charger needs some FlowMasters. Hell yeah!!!!
Got 2018 sxt tks for your addvice😊
hey this man NAIL IT! what I needed for my 2013 dodge charger v6. I bought a borla S-type system and it didn`t have that roar like it should. I follow all step in installing correctly. not much different. i did a before and after. I was not pleased, but this set up I will try with the flow master Super 10 on my charger with straight pipe. thank you for this vid. awsome job explain it.
Thanks💪
You're absolutely correct about keeping the resonators on a v6. Removing them adds zero power and just makes it sound like a honda. What I have seen that sounds the best for the least money is removing the resonators (mids) and replacing them with flowmaster super 44s and replace the mufflers (rear) with vibrant performance resonators at the rear. Sounds nice and aggressive with minimal rasp and drone.
Video!?!?!!!’
I got a resonator delete and muffler delete and my sxt sound like v8 when I start it up and when it’s sitting and when I rev it when I’m driving
@Fastlife Mob I guarantee a V6 with no mufflers or resonators doesnt sound like a V8.
@@andymartin5250 I can show you videos if you want and ppl in my city with scatpacks and every other car tells me that my sxt sounds like a crazy v8 and I almost run a 3.6 from 0-60 so removing the mufflers and resonator does add power because I was only touching 5 second from 0-60 before I got them removed
@Fastlife Mob if you could cut a second and a half off of your zero to sixty just from doing what you did, then every charger and challenger on the road would be straight piped. It's cool as long as you like the sound but I've had everything from a GT to a scat and tried several options on the v6 to try to get as close as I could to that v8 sound. It never did but it definitely sounded better than a stock v6.
It’s just his opinion people. Beauty and sound is always in the eye and ears of the beholder
Thinking about doing something like this to my 2022 Charger GT. Didn't know where to start or what to get. Thanks for the info.
I like both options... I think I'll go with the 1st one
I just did this same style setup on my grand cherokee 3.6 yesterday. Used jones mufflers and an x pipe. X pipe is a must for it to sound correct. Quiet while cruising. Get a little noisy when hard on it.
I put a RT exhaust with reso delete. Was cheap and just needed adapters going up on pipe size. Sounded good and deep
Great sound!!
I have a 2015 Challenger I put the super 10 Flowmaster in the car and did what they said car sounds great and didn't cost me a lot of money very cheap cost thanks guys keep up the good work I don't think I need a Hemi now it sounds just like it and a little more horsepower keep up the good work guys thanks for your video
Right on
2019 Challenger GT: Mid resonator and rear muffler delete. Add a single flowmaster 40 dual inlet/outlet where the resonators were. Awesome awesome sound!!
in the video, they didn't delete mid muffler...why do you delete it?
Thank you so much for this!
Thanks
Did this to my kids charger. Cut out the resonators and muffler, then did 2 pipe in and 2 pipe out (2 1/2 in 3 inch out) Flowmaster super 10. The super 10 muffler also acts like a x pipe as it's a straight through design. Dam V6 identifys as a V8 now....lol. other upgrades are cold air intake 3 inch pipe, ported and polished throttle body (done by me) upper and lower intake ported and smoothed out as best you can do with plastic (done by me) port match to the heads (done by me) and ported and polished heads (done by me) MSD ignition coils, Diablo 91 tune . I call it the Hell Kitty ...lol...because my kid hate when I do. Oh yeah I only run Amsoil oil and transmission fluid is D6 .
What would be a good option for installing something after deleting the rear mufflers? This would be to make it sound better but not super-annoyingly loud in the morning.
I did an offroad pipe then put in a magnaflow dual in/out with a rear delete and it honestly didn't sound too bad or too loud i recommend it over using Flowmaster or borla
Good to know thanks for the info 👍
Thanks for the Great information and views from under the car… Thankz
You bet!
Thanks for the video.
I agree leaving the stock mid mufflers in, and deleting the back resonators is the best sounding in the Best Bang For The Buck Category.
And the Super 10 Flowmasters sound great, but too much drone/noise for a daily driver in my opinion. My favorite four mufflers, (with the back resonators deleted) is the: Flowmaster Delta 40 series, the Flowmaster HP-2 x 18”, the Magnaflow 4”x 14”, or the Magnaflow 4” x 18” mufflers.
WOW!!That Rear Muff Delete sounds Phenomenal!!Will that pass emissions in most states?Thinking of cutting my rears out 11 Charger V6
I put Flowmaster S10 mufflers on my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 l6 Inline 6 cylinder And the sound and A 4 inch lift with 33 Inch x12.5 inch tires,And some nice fiber carbon around the fenders down to the rocer pannels, all blacked out and it looks and sounds great.
Great Video, Thank You For Sharing. Niagara Falls Ontario Canada Saying Hello.
Resonators and muffler delete to 2 flow master super 44s. Love the sound.
Since I have a v6 Challenger, and eventually want to pass it down to my future kid, all the "performance" mods I've done are installing a Cold Air Intake which gives it nice growl/rumble and I also straight piped it(removed the resonators and mufflers) and boy does it sound agressive as a muscle car should. Taking into consideration the factory spoiler it has plus some racing stripes I added, it looks great. I've literally got around 25 plus people complimenting how good the car looks, in the couple years I've had it.
you better not pass that pos down to your kid hed slap your ass silly buddy
I have a 22 Dodge Challenger 3.6vvt I really like both options
I have a 2015 challenger sxt i really liked option 1 but I would like to put some chrome Quad tips they look soo good on challengers that’s just my opinion
I bought a used 2017 challenger sxt and it already had a rear muffler delete. It sounds pretty good I get compliments and when I watched this video I went outside to look under my car to see why it doesn’t sound stock. I’m glad they did the right mod lol
Very nice!
Keep mid mufflers and replace stock rear mufflers with Flowmaster Flow FX mufflers. Exhaust vids are from Exhaust Addict btw..
👍💯Great and clear info
Glad it was helpful!
I have a 2015 Dodge Charger SE 3.6. I deleted the rear mufflers. I replaced the mid muffler with a flowmaster super 44 which the exhaust shop recommended for all dodge v6s I may go with a super 10 in the future
Thx u so much gladly appreciate this video respect
Glad it helped
I have 2018 sxt plus cut everything off put x pipe 2 corsa classic mufflers and added 5inch tips no rasp at all and very aggressive doesn’t sound like an average v6 plus the intake love people’s reactions
Okay. The Flowmaster Super 10's sounds good.
2023 Borla full kit... Expensive but well worth it... Sounds clean and def not annoying... Zero drone
I put the Super 10s where the mid mufflers were, cutoff the suitcases in the back and placed Flowmaster Flows in the spot. Sounds like a beast with virtually no drone.
Can you send me the link you used to get super 10 and do you have a charger
I have a 19 Jeep grand Cherokee and looking to make it sound good looking at this video helped a lot thanks
Awesome ✌️
I have a standard v6 set 2021.. haven’t done anything yet but I like them flowmasters. I just want a deep sound that’s not annoyingly loud. I drive slow generally cuz I want this car to last a long time so I’m not lookin to blow peoples ear drums.
Love the video! I’m so nervous… will the super 10’s and rear resinators/mufflers deleted… cause a “check engine” light to come on!?
No will not cause a light.
I bought a used 09 Dodge Charger SXT - low miles no accidents and regular maintenance w receipts. it's a nice charger for a v6 until I can afford a Hemi!! I installed an INJEN cold air intake, new 18-inch wheels, Michelin tires, and Brembo breaks, recently added a transmission fluid cooler because why not... new upgraded spark plugs, new fuel pumps, new upgraded radiator. Now it's finally time to do the exhaust mainly because I can afford it, also it is just smart to take care of priorities first and get this car running very well as is before doing any real big changes. I figure the dual exhaust is the last work I will be doing on this ride other than normal maintenance.
I mainly want to know what exhaust you would recommend for my current set up as is on a budget. I have seen model 40 and 44 for my make and year but the 10s supposedly don't fit. Can the 2 and a quarter pipe be changed out to 2 and a half or 3 without hurting mpg and performance?
I have read that 2 and a quarter is the size to go with for sound and performance with the v6. If this is untrue, I would be happy with 2 and a half with super 10s!! Also, will adding dual exhaust up the value of the vehicle?
ANY INPUT WOULD BE REALLY APPRECIATED.
MOPAR DAN
My 2014 300c has (2)super 10's..resonator delete w/cherry bomb glasspacks on rear w cat delete..sounds awsome for a V6
Was looking at the American Thunder system from Flowmaster that looks to be a solid price point and value for what's provided. We miss the "low rumble" of our RT on this new one and are on the hunt to find it! Thanks for your tips, tricks and videos! Cheers!
Awesome 💪
The challenger sounds better than the chargers. Idk because they have a different v6? Like a bigger block one? I cant decide what to go with my 2012 charger se v6. Dont want it to sound like a tin can. Any vids or suggestions for a charger? Would really appreciate that
i have a v6 caravan. deleted the res and the muff. it's now durrected out the side after splitting into a y pipe. sounds great for what i got. i put what to much work into this thing in all honestly.
The best bang for the buck that i did on my charger 3.6 was cut off the rear resonators and replace with a normal pipe. You can do that at home in your drive way with some creativity and some parts. Or you can have it welded. It sounds good, not raspy or loud, but a nice deeper tone.
I agree very simple and sounds very clean with the mid resonators still in place 👍
This rear resonator delete sounds 100% better in real life. No.. its not a V8 but its not a raspy fart can either 😂 just a nice 6cyl
@@lordmegatron8617 that's for sure👍
Did you get any drone when you cut off the rear resonators?

The super tends in the middle sound really nice I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with the V6 is there any way to make it even deeper sound
Great video

If You’re Getting Flowmaster Replacements Can You Still Add Vibrant Resonators?
I got a 2014 Dodge Charger SXT with the rear resonator delete and it honestly sounds pretty good. My cuzin said its louder than his stock chrysler with a hemi lol
My 2015 challenger v6 is straight pipe it’s stupid loud sound great at idle but under power not so much I’m thinking about putting flowmasters super 10s where the mid mufflers was .
Anyone can make a v6 loud…. But a v8 sounds deep, full and has a rich sound that makes you smile ear to ear MOPAR BABY WOOO!
😊true story great video information 👍
Thanks for watching
Yes I have a 2018 Dodge Challenger SXT I did like the sound of the flowmaster super 10s just wanted someone's opinion on what it sound like with the same setup with flowmaster 44 would really appreciate it
Are the Vibrant Resonators a decent option to do the resonator replacement and rear muffler delete with?
I think there's a video from the channel you used for the examples as well, I just wanted to gather other views on it, before fully committing down the line.
I have a 2022 v6 charger with a single mid muffler and 2 rear mufflers. I was thinking about swapping the mid muffler for a super 44 and doing rear muffler delete. Should I try just a rear muffler delete first?
What about taking it from the heads and go 2 1/2 cats and 2 1/2 mid muff and 2 1/2 out to the tips? And would you keep the x pipe or delete it? I would really like to know if that would give it more of a low tone.
I got a 2018 dodge challenger Sxt Plus what you think sounds good is it one of your top two cause that’s what I’m thinking about going with
Will do that to the v6 T&C
I have a V6 challenger I have the borla Atak cat-back exhaust sounds really good love it

What if I were to replace my mid muffler with flowmaster outlaws? And then do a rear muffler delete
Im a 15 year old who just got a new challenger and I’ve been looking for weeks on ways to find it louder and this vid helps so much
Awesome
I had a 2020 sxt that i cut off the rear mufflers and popped on a set of Blastin' Bob's fat pipes (look him up). For around $200 and no welding it's a great upgrade to your V6.
I'm doing the mid delete replacement with big boz 4
I have a 2014 v6 i had found a cheap catback from Trubenez i was thinking of getting that and i was considered a resonator delete and maybe getting cherry bomb rear muffler idk what i should do with the mid muffler if i did go with that set up
If you please, I want to know how to make the voice that you called (very clean, respectable and cheap) and it was evaluated by you that it is the first?
I have a 2019 v6 charger and was wanting to put borla muffler on it instead of buying the exhaust system what size muffler do I need
I got all the parts to delete my buddies rear resonators on his Charger. He disappeared and never got it done, fast forward three years and the parts have been sitting in my garage.....right next to my 300S I picked up last week. Time for a weekend project.😀
A friend is giving me one super 10 muffler, 3in 3 out will that work if i cut the resonators?
Different trends muffler is the best. Replace mid mufflers with those, delete rear resonators and enjoy the clean deep tone with no drones and no rasps. Look up Different trends muffler on a v6 challenger. You are welcome. Btw, I paid less than 100 for 2 of mine.
I got mine done from exhaust addicts too mines on the channel white 2013 sxt challenger with tn front plate if you see it lmk what you think of the sound
i have a bola atak catback on my v6 if i got a rear res delete would it be a similar sound to the flow master 10s?
Any hp bump freeing up exhaust flow with freer flowing muffler and factory muffler and resonator delete?
I have a toyota avalon and i have heard thst if you take the resonators and mufflers off but have bigger tail pipes it makes it sound less raspy. Is that true?
What abt improving cat. conv. and adding super 10’s midway for sound and a lil bit air flow
word man I also have a v6 2019 first time Challenger buyer, the rt 392 that I wanted was outside my range, since I paid cash up front, that being said the car already had a rear muffler delete and I was not satisfied with it, then I went with a mid delete with dual cherry bombs xtreme and thing was loud AF. Ultimately somehow the muffler gods took pity on me and scored a slightly used Borla Atak and im happy. dude that sold it to me was t boned and was a complete loss. Made our lie a thief in the night scored it for 4 bills. Im happy although its a v6 im content making it mines and doing small mods and add ons her and there
Thinking of replacing my mid mufflers with Flowmaster 44
i have a 4 cil car, and deleted the mid silencer and replaced the back muffler, i get a rlly bad raspy sound at 2500rpms,,, moving the muffler/silencer to the middle would solve this also for my 4cil?
First of all, this video is old and I have no idea why it was sent to me today. That said, there is no Mopar V-6 any longer, and none of those cars are even made anymore. I give Chrysler 1 more year and it'll be gone. Two tops. If you have a Pentastar and want it to sound good, get a Borla S Cat back system. You'll be very happy with it. It fits like a glove, it's all top shelf stainless steel that'll never rust, will last forever, and costs about 1,600 dollars complete. It won't wake the neighbors on the morning startup, (but it's close) takes the 6-cylinder whine out of it, has no drone, and will get very loud when you hit it. Best of all, it'll use the factory exhaust tips which will keep the rain out of the pipes and the wet soot off of anything behind it when you start it up in the pouring rain. Borla S is what I use and I wouldn't have anything else. I have a 2018 supercharged AWD Dodge Charger which is the last of the Mercedes E class cars. That included the Challenger and the 300. Goodbye Dodge. We knew you too well. What ever you do, don't crash your cars folks. I highly doubt Dodge will be able to get body parts for them because they've closed all the factories that used to make them. That's 4 billion a year in sales Dodge just cancelled. They're finished. I knew this the day they shut down SRT and gave it to the Europeans. The only thing they're selling now are 23 leftovers. To Chrysler I can only say F.U! And to Mopar? It was nice while it lasted. Unfortunately, now you've gone back to the junk you always were. 80 grand for a Jeep? Like I said; while it lasted.
I have a 2011 V6 Durango that already had cold air intake and cats gutted and mid deleted but they had made a Y pipe that went into a magnaflow ( looks like magnaflow version of glass pack ) then went to stock muffler at rear .. I have the crew Durango so it only has the one outlet and it had some tone but more less stock but deeper .. so I eliminated the stock rear and put a decent tip nothing fancy or big and I would not suggest this setup at all unless you're into to Tokyo drift scene LOL. The Durango now sounds like one of those pissed-off rice burners. Just did that yesterday so today going to try adding in a flowmaster and see what it sounds like leaving the magnaflow in The Middle. But I liked this video and they way it was explained so I may just dual it out and go with 2 flows. It's the wife's car but I can't have that pissed off Honda sound .
A week ago I got a 23 challenger v6 ... I need that hemi growl and from the 3 options in this video, the 2nd one sounds the best ... the other 2 just sound like a suped out Honda
Couldn't agree more!

I am writing from Poland and I need Your help.
Tooday I have cut rear mufler (stock resonators are still on the car) from my 2018 Challenger V6 at the shop.
I thought that it is the best way to get better sound.
I am very disapointed because the drone inside the cabine is huge...esecially when I drive in town at 1500 rpm or when I accelerate up to 6000 rpm.
Will changing stock exhoust tips to quad tips can reduce drone?
Please help me find, what can cause such huge .
