I bought that exact mower in the fall of 2017. I'll be doing my 1,000 hour review shortly. I was able to get 900 hrs on the stock rear tires. I got the no-flat front casters option when I bought the mower. Your right ! That thing is an absolute BEAST of a mower.
Good video Johnny! On my snapper pro the hour meter has total run time hours which has and E, and PTO hours which is P, I'd assume it be the same for ferris. By the way I did some of the ICD deck fixes to mine that you recommended (turbo baffle and short sail blade) it made a night and day difference! I couldn't be happier with the machine the discharge and cut is phenomenal!
I've been running Ferris since 2011. 3100 and 3200, 72 and 61 inch decks, and purchased a 2100, 61" this year. Love these mowers. I like the way the deck has more trim-ability on the 2100 for a 61" cut. Resembles the 72 on a 3200. The hour meter on the new 2100 does have an E for engine hours, and a D for deck hours I believe. On servicing the hydros, you mentioned it taking a long time to refill. There is a 7/16 vent bolt you can remove on top of the hydro for them to refill quicker and when the fluid starts coming out the hole, you put the bolt in and its good to go. Thanks for the videos! I have torn the sidewalls of tires on the 61" mowers after being use to the overhang of the 72's.
thanks johnny...im on the fence for a new mower. I really want the ferris, but no dealers within 3 hrs that do sales and service. I know I want the EFI, and here in west texas, its gets so bumpy and dry. My stolen exmark lazer z is paid off, and I have the itch for either a 52 Inch 2100, or the 61 3200. From what your saying, the 2100 52" may be a better option for me because I can not only mow big yards, but medium sized yards as well with better trimming abilities, getting closer to trees, objects etc, and a bit more agile.
I almost bought one but ended up with a John Deere 1025R compact tractor with a loader. It can haul loads, move things around, and mow the grass. I also have a X720 John Deere GT which is about the same size. They cut the hell out of some grass but I can’t get that suspension off my mind!! My back is really bad and sometimes I get beat up too much. I just had my 5th back surgery last year so my tractor days may be limited
I was in the same boat I have a 1025r the 7-iron deck off of it never put it on I had a John Deere 425 with a power flow bagger for 12 years can't say nothing but good about it but my back told me to go buy a ferris last fall we'll see how it does
The only issue I have with my 61" ICD deck is that the clippings are quit long when leaving the deck when the lawns are taller. Love my Z3x. I use stock ferris blades. Great cutting machines. Just wished they chopped up the clippings a hair more. Great deck though overall and doesnt clog. I chose the 28 KAwi EFI for MPG perposes bc most lawns are manicured.
With the speed that they travel, zero turns will take a toll on your back. I had an Exmark before my Ferris and it rode like a goat cart. I replaced it with an old Ferris 3000 with low hours with essentially the same suspension setup as this. The ride difference is night and day. I also have an IS 5100 Ferris that rides even better. The cut quality is good for both mowers but the new models have a redesigned deck that is supposed to be even better.
My neighbor just got one of these. Suspension looks nice. Do the shocks and suspension seat bounce at different rates? I've heard of people removing the suspension seats cuz they're bouncing against the mower suspension. Also split gas tanks are stupid, its 2019, figure it out ferris. I have a bagger on a 60 inch kubota with 26 horsepower no problem, and 13gallons in 1 tank..
What would you do: considering a Bad Boy ZT Elite cause it seems to be a good mower for the money or spend more for a better ride with a Ferris IS800? Just mowing my personal yard.
I have owned several exmarks . They are great mowers but they are underpowered. That’s the only complaint I have. Just bought a stihl which is made by Ferris. 40 hp vanguard suspension is wonderful.
I am not worried about productivity because I am retired and nearly 68 years old so I am only worried about by body . The 2011 Dixie Chopper Silver Eagle was a fine mower when I bought it ,and it still is very good ! But I have had to let air out of my tires even with the weight adjustable seat and it still beats me up . Looking for something like this and would like to know of any others on the market that offer a smooth ride . I mow 6 acres and would like not to be mowing all day to cut it . Any help appreciated .
@@JohnnyMow Thank you sir ! That is key to my journey on getting a new mower . Now I will be investigating which one is the over all best in reliability along with customer service .
Ferris hour meters do have this option...if he checked his hour meter when the PTO is on it shows the PTO hours with a P with the hours and when the PTO is off it shows the engine hours with an E and the hours.
I’m all about a smooth ride, durability, and the turf tiger with suspension seat was gonna be my next mower. But you’re opinion the Ferris is smoother? If so I’ll demo one soon. Thanks again
Toss up for me (zk 61 & z3x 61) absolutely ZERO FAN of grease fittings..... way rather NOT deal with zirk fittings, grease all over everything due to Chinese made Horse shit , I've got an old old Ameri-cans made grease gun because this shit they're pawning as "Greatest gun ever thought of " is flippn GARBAGE! I'm 52 , been mowing as long as I ran dozers, loaders, excavators, greased more fittings than the average Baer....I'm DONE GREASING. I’m getting about 1.3-1.6 ranger on my cheetah with the 37 vanguard efi. I mow one property that is five or six football fields worth three hours straight mowing takes just a little over half a tank (cheetah has two 7.5 gal tanks so half of one those)
Todd Benfield yep I believe it. Mine continues to get better. I’m at 260 hours and Im anywhere from 1.2-1.5 gph consistently. By far in my opinion the best gas engine to ever hit the market and be placed on a mower.
Johnny thanks for the great information. I was dead set on getting a wright or walker mower. But now I'm going to re evaluate my options. Thanks again

Yes E for engine hours which only records when the park brake is disengaged and P for PTO hours which only records when the deck is engaged.
Love your vids Johnny, awesome stuff.
For under $10 on ebay, You can get a hour meter / tach that uses the plug wire for pick-up. Easy install and will give you true running hours.
I have a Ferris IS3200Z and have to agree. It's the best ZT mower out there. Incredible power and cut.

I agree great mower - use the 3200 on my 40 acres including large orchard and open fields - 3rd year going strong
I do like Ferris’s. They look tough and you can’t bet the price. Good video Jonny
Look at the bright side..if the hour meter is only recording while the deck is on the warranty will last longer.

Better than the hour meter on my Hustler. Key on, engine off, it's counting.

They designed it. They designed the oil change interval. You not being a fan is irrelevant.
Just because they design something does not make it good. Just ask exmark triton deck. They designed but it did not work
Just change it, not hard
