I was determined to figure this stuff out by myself, but a video like this would have saved me a few months of work--good thing the trial and error was fun. One slight "improvement" I might suggest is: If the axle stubs reach fairly close to the middle of the brass axle tube, only one notch needs to be cut in the center. Liquid (not gel) superglue (cyanoacrylate) will flow freely into the tube through the notch and lock the axles tight. I usually don't even have any nubs/bumps of excess glue to trim off the axle tube afterwards.
Keep doing tutorials. We can all learn something new, especially when there are many ways to accomplish the same goal. You might help someone on a tight budget solve a problem without just throwing money at it. Or inspire someone to take new chances on their builds.
BTW, I read somewhere that the arched plastic or metal on the chassis behind the wheels on Hot Wheels cars is to keep the axles from getting deformed when little kids push down too hard on their cars. It limits how far the axles can be bent. Makes sense to me. I pretty much always get rid of it using my belt sander.

We need more of these using American castings. Seems like the others have gone the JDM-route and high end customizations that simple mods like this are forgotten for the beginners. Could you one day to a paint comparison of a raw casting? One fresh out of the stripper (washed and dried naturally), another that has been given the scotch brute, wire wheel treatment only and the last fully sanded & polished? Lots of newbies need to see the difference a little effort makes.
