    "Don't let other people's fears become your own fears" Thank you SO MUCH for saying this!! I've had friends and family who aren't even in the profession and have no knowledge of travel therapy discourage me from traveling for various reasons (I'm a new grad OT, haven't started working yet). Even today my mom said "it'll be too lonely" when I told her my potential plan to travel. Facepalm lol. That said I really appreciate all your videos!

      Aww thanks for the kind words! We heard many of the reasons why not to travel when we started, but take them lightly and find out for yourself if you like the travel therapy lifestyle. What's great is that it's so flexible! So if you like it, then you continue taking contracts! If it's terrible, then you can pack up and go find a permanent job near home. It's a win win in our book! 😊

    Again an informativ video. Thanks for that. I always says, listen to your heart, your mind and your stomach. Sometimes they fight with each other, but dont listen, what another people says. Make your own experience. Maybe they are right, for them own situation. But is not sure, they wrong for you. Sorry for my english, but i think you get the point.
    Its your dream? So do it. If didn't work out? So what? If you dont try, you cant tell its work or not. Keep on guys. Live your dream 😉

    Can you still have a home base while doing travel contacts? Do companies usually pay for your housing at that location?

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  Před 3 lety +1

      Most people have a "home base" that is your tax home. The travel company does not pay for your home base rent or mortgage, but maintaining a tax home is how you get a tax free housing stipend while on contract! Yay! Check out traveltax.com for more info on this!

    If I choose to get my own healthcare through the marketplace, do these recruiting companies offer me more for not accepting their health insurance? Or would those people have their own health insurance go directly to the companies instead the recruiting company?
    Thank you!

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  Před rokem +1

      The recruiting companies will not offer you more per week if you opt out of their health insurance. As for going directly to the companies, it's possible, but usually takes more trouble than travelers are willing to bother with. Plus, some facilities will only work with travel companies because they have a relationship built with them and not with individual contractors. Hope that helps!

    Hi, I'm a PTA living and working in a permanent position in Nevada.. I'm thinking of getting into traveling as a PTA. I have a question about taxes..how are you taxed if you own a home say in Nevada but you are working as a traveler in CA?
    Thank you for providing all this useful information!!
    Also, can you provide me with some contacts of good travel companies to work with?

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  Před rokem

      The state that you are traveling to will take their income tax percentage. Your home state will only take income tax if their percentage is higher than the state you traveled to. For example, hypothetically if CA takes 13% and Nevada takes 5%, you will be taxed 13% in CA only. If you work in TX and they take 0%, you will pay 5% to NV only. If you work on MO and they take 3%, you would give 3% to MO and 2% to NV. All hypothetical numbers of course! Lol Hope that helps!

    Hello, thank you for this amazing video. I have a couple of questions about traveler PT's. I know that you guys have an RV and use it for moving between states. But if you don't have an RV, should you drive your own car? Do they cover charges for the car( miles + renting a car)? Or/and do they cover flight tickets and will provide a rental car?

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  Před rokem +1

      Most travelers take their own car for assignments. Travel companies provide a travel stipend for the trip to your assignment. This have been anywhere from $100 to $600 for us, depending on how far we travel.

      Thank you so much! I still have one more question : Do they give paid time off in your contract in a specific location? For instance, do you get a Christmas vacation if you want to visit family?
