    Thank you so much for all this valuable info. I have been a PTA for 30 years. My last child just left for college this past year and I am so excited to do some traveling work. I’ll be living in a travel trailer so all your info about the process will help me tremendously.

    I know yall talked about what health insurance you're on with a community essentially, but if you have to wait for a few weeks for the company health insurance to kick in, is this how yall do it to wait for the company one to kick in? love the videos!

    I love the RV idea and have been considering that myself, but do you drive to work with your RV then? Just wondering how that part works out for you guys! Thanks :)

      We love living in our RV! But no, we do not drive it to work. We have two commuter cars we bring with us! :)

    Based off of other traveling therapists that you talk to... Do therapists who don't live in an RV typically take a week off in between contracts to move?

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  Před 3 lety +3

      It's entirely up to the therapist! Some take time off to explore on the way to their next assignment or visit family. Some don't travel too far and end contracts on a Friday and start their new one on Monday. We've done both! :) The flexibility of travel therapy is such a great perk!

    This was super helpful! As an (almost) new grad who is just entering this crazy travel world, these terms can be so confusing, so thank you for this. Is the housing/meal stipend in addition to the weekly pay package (say 1800) or is it already figured in? And when you're taking an assignment in a city with a higher cost of living (like CA), will you be offered a higher weekly pay package?

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for watching and your kind words! They mean a lot to us!
      The housing/meal stipend is included in the presented weekly pay. Weekly pay can range from $1400 to $1800 per week. We're seeing new grads during the COVID time getting between $1400 to $1600 per week.
      When in a higher cost of living area, like CA, your housing and food stipends are higher, thus your overall weekly pay is greater. Just know that means that rent and food in the area will cost you more per month. :) hope this helps! Be sure to share our content with your friends! :)

      @@RyanMegan To further on this question, is the taxed income (the $20/hour) you were talking about included in the $1800/week or is that additional? Sorry I didn't understand from the video

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  Před 3 lety +3

      The taxed income is calculated in the total $1600 to $1800 number. Meaning the $1600-$1800 per week is after tax or money in your pocket.
      All travel contract offers are displayed in after tax dollars and per week.
      Hope that helps!

    What would you say is the current hourly rate as a PTA traveler?

  • @hamed715
    @hamed715 Před 2 lety +1

    Does everyone qualify for stipends? Or do you have to qualify for non-taxed income?

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  Před 2 lety +1

      Anyone can qualify for stipends, you just have to maintain a tax home by showing dual expenses.

  • @kennylogan588
    @kennylogan588 Před 2 lety

    Ryan and Megan thanks for your videos. I am at the beginning of my PTA career and researching traveling therapist jobs. I have 2 questions. First, apart from federal taxes that are paid no matter where the contract is, are state income taxes calculated based on the state the contract facility is located or off of your home state of residence? Second, there are a number of travel agencies out there, can you recommend any that you prefer to work with and provide recruiter information? If that needs to be done in an email, I can send you my email.
    Thanks!

    • @RyanMegan
      @RyanMegan  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for watching!
      To answer your first question, yes to both. You'll get a W-2 from your travel company and the state you worked in will take their portion of the tax. If the percentage of tax is greater in your tax home state, then they will take the remaining portion. Example would be working an assignment in State A and taxed 5%. While your tax home is in state B with a tax of 8%. So State B will take another 3%. You're taxed a total of 8%. Now if your tax home state B is only 2%. Then you only pay the 5% tax from state A. Hope that helps! Be sure to reach out to the professionals at traveltax.com. They're great with working with travelers!
      As for your second question, send us an email to ryanandmeganorear@gmail.com and we'll get you connected with our recruiters that we personally use and trust.
