  • I explore a mine site that I have been wanting to check out for the past 5 years. I was surprised on how much equipment was still at the site.

I would say that 8:20 that was a water pump for the engine... not a turbo...

The back story is really how these miners had the dollars and the will to move this equipment up canyon...blood, sweat, hard work...
    Great video...be safe.

It’s just amazing what people went through to mine minerals out of these mountains! Haul all that wood from miles and miles away! Those engines, ore buckets, pulleys etc from civilization to out in the middle of nowhere! Just exploring these mountains was a chore in itself! Amazing!!

Wow oh Wow. You really scored on this one. Thats the most relics/artifacts I've seen in a long time. Who knows what you may find in the mine itself. As an arm-chair explorer your channel is one of the top videos to watch. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures. Looking forward to your return visit.

Hi Desert Friend. First let me compliment you on your photographic stills. They are beautiful and I like the music you pick to go with it. Secondly, let me give praise to the choice you made of not going inside without a rope.Your life matters. This was an amazing place and as much as I'd have loved to seen inside a copper mine, I can wait for your return in the summer, with rope, helmet and a friend. Lovely!

I think what you have found was a one or two-man operation, back in the day. I am amazed by the amount of sheer, brute labor it must have taken to bring those engines and that jaw crusher up the canyon, then up the talus slope to the mine. Must have been some pretty damned rich copper ore to make it worthwhile! It is so totally cool that everything seems untouched. Its like a museum. That kind of mine is becoming harder and harder ro find. Don't reveal its location! Maybe we'll be lucky, and it will stay that way!

How many men would have worked a mine like this? Besides hauling all the large heavy motors, steel track, large wood beams and supports, they also had to haul in their tools, food, and other provisions. I can’t imagine the effort involved just to get started mining, much less the actual mining itself. Definitely a hardy and motivated group.

Just saw this latest video from you & wanted to say enjoyed it very much! Simply amazing what men with a “ Vision” can/ will do to make that a reality. The engines though looked to be gasoline powered from what I could see , and that “ Little turbo” is actually that engines belt driven water pump for cooling . Really need to get my Behind out looking now for some similar old workings. Living here in Southern Ca. I have no excuses other than time…. 😉

The engine at 3:25 is a 4 cylinder Holt gasoline engine built by the Aurora Engine Company in Stockton California, probably made between 1906 and 1913. You can see the spark plugs sticking out of the head on the side closest to the rocks.
Here is a video of a model of it running:
