The wire gauge of the cable is important. 18 and 16 AWG are not worth considering. 14 or 12 AWG stranded twisted pair is best with spade lugs on the cables. And yes, copper of course.

    Great advice.
I think also at the entry level, diy is a viable option. Lamp cord doesn't cut it. But there are lot's of diy recipes that can build decent cables for just a few dollars. Braiding twisted pair copper cables removed from ethernet cable can be good. Braid 3, then take three of those and braid them etc until you have 24 strands. Connect all the white for - and all the colored for + and you have a great cable for under $50. You'll invest a few hours and hands may get sore but the results will be very good.

I contacted AQ customer service to find out their speaker cable specs, capacitance, impedance, etc.. They responded that they don’t have specs. If the ideal speaker cable has zero loss and the speaker is considered a black box, you could take a cheap speaker cable hard wired to the speaker and define that as part of the speaker. By adding an expensive speaker cable, the sound should not change. But then you may as well connect the cable that belongs to the box directly to the amp, and save your self the money of the expensive cable. So the answer is to define the cheap cable as part of the speaker and thus eliminate the need for expensive cables.
