Eluveitie is the only band that lets you headbang to a f*cking flute. :D - Also a fantastic liveband, seen them live multiple times. They are insane talentet, some of the bandmembers are multi instrumentalists. Chrigel, the male singer plays the Mandola, the tinwhistle and some other wind instruments. Mateo, the guy with the flute also plays backpipes and Ullean pipes, also the celtic drums. Nicole, who plays the violin also plays the Chello and Fabienne, the female singer plays the celtic harp.
They are a Pagan/ Folk Melodic Deathmetal band from Switzerland.

The band name was pronounced completely correctly, respect! It is the first inscription found from a Swiss tribe, after which Switzerland is named in Latin, Helvetia. Switzerland is part of the Celtic settlement area.
Singer Fabi still has a metal side project where she has now released her second album. Stylistically it is a mixture of symphonic and prog:
ILLUMISHADE - ENEMY (Official Music Video) | Napalm Records
The hurdy-gurdy player seen here has now left the band and founded her own band:
LYRRE - Valley of Tears (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)
Her predecessor also founded her own band and plays prog metal:
CELLAR DARLING - Avalanche (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
And speaking of famous hurdy-gurdy players:
ALESTORM ft. PATTY GURDY - Voyage Of The Dead Marauder (Official Video) | Napalm Records
    And the next Eluveitie song:
ELUVEITIE - Aidus (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)

I think I've been watching people react to stuff for more than 5 years, and i don't recall ever commenting on a video, even though a lot were pleasant. It has nothing to do with the fact that i really like Eluveitie, it's your enthusiasm, it's very contagious without being overdone. • @Maggot91ify
    @Maggot91ify Před 21 dnem

Eluveitie are a highly popular Celtic themed folk metal band from Switzerland, founded in 2002 by Chrigel Glanzmann (harsh vocals), their name is derived from the Helvetii tribe. a Celtic speaking tribe in what is now Switzerland.
They are influenced by the traditional music styles of Ireland, Britany and Scotland and have adapted various traditional tunes from those regions into their music (mostly Irish and Breton, which I have been trying to catalogue).
As another commenter stated, several of the members are multi-instrumentalists,
Chrigel plays tin and low whistles (the "fifes" you mentioned), mandolin, mandola. Bodhrán (Irish drum), harp, and various bagpipes notably Galician, Uillean, and a German Shephard pipe I believe.
Matteo also plays whistles and bagpipes, he also plays mandola and Bodhrán
Fabienne (female vox) can play a few instruments herself but mostly plays harp and I believe at some point in their tours, blew on a Carnyx (ancient Celtic trumpet)
I'll add that this song uses two Irish songs in it. The Chorus is "I am Stretched on Your Grave" and the whistle section before the guitar solos was "Lads of Laois"

If it was my post that made you do this reaction (I did mention it but maybe someone else did too) then it makes me very happy. Actually doesn't matter it was just everything I wanted from it 😂 you are my favourite reactor; I thought you would like it but not even I would have thought how much fun you would have 😁 great great reaction. A little bit of context about the band: I would agree that they are all musical nerds, I think all play multiple instruments. But don't quote me on that 😅 They are definitely great live, her singing is great but as someone pointed out mixing all the different instruments must be a nightmare and some just didn't come through in the mix. I would say the singer's flute and the other singer's harp wasn't audible most of the time. I would love to recommend more songs of them and there are great ones but none that mix all the instruments that well. At least none with a video to watch. And last but not least about the hurdy gurdy, I don't know a lot about it but as far as I got it her playing here is very special in that she is "tremolo cranking" it, which brings out this really awesome eery sound. I would love her to use this more often but as far as I remember their discography it doesn't happen too often. Nevertheless aside from reactions if you like versatile folk metal (they have calmer songs and everything in between) you can just listen to any song randomly and you will probably like it.

I prefer the older Eluveitie era with vocalist Anna Murphy (2006 - 2016). Not knocking the newer offerings. Simply personal preference. Another fun band in this genre is Feuerschwanz. They are a German Medieval Rock/Metal band that doesn't take themselves too seriously and really seems to have fun with their original music and covers. A hilarious introduction to them is their cover of the song "Ding" with guest vocalist Melissa Bonny from Ad Infinitum. Definitely worth checking out!!

If you like the female vocalist here, Fabienne Emi, her other band, Illumishade, is also worth a listen.

I really enjoyed your review! Eluveitie is one of my favorite bands of all times! Indeed, there is nobody else like them, especially since they sometimes sing in Gaulish, an extinct language. Hi NittPicc, I don't think it was my comment on the Unlucky Morpheus video that caught your attention, but no matter, Eluveitie is here, that's the main thing!
As to "Throw me in, coach", two of the band members you see here were recruited of CZcams doing Eluveitie covers, Matteo the fife player and Michalina the hurdy-gurdy player. She has since moved on to her own band Lyre. Matteo also plays the bagpipes.
The band has be around for 22 years, there's a lot of material (and line-up changes) but if you liked this one, fallowing up with Aidus is probably perfect.
The female vocalist, Fabienne and Wolf the guitarist have a side project called Illumishade, their new album is well worth a look, singles like Hymn and Elegy, as well as a colab between Faun and Eluveitie calle Gwydion.
Already rambled on too long, but if you want links, just say gimme! 😁😁🤘

And you don't have to be a woman to think it's cool with women in rock and heavy metal. Granted, I don't really care much about gender, I try to see the human being first, but I have to admit, it IS awesome to see women do this kind of music, because I like it when people take the old fashioned and outdated gender roles, and rip them a new one. If I remember it correctly, Dany from The Warning once said that the gender of the people on stage doesn't matter, what matters is having fun, or something along those lines. Wise beyond her years for sure, just like her sisters.

The growly shout singing just doesn't do it for me, makes just about every song with it unlistenable for me, sadly. I know it is a singing skill that is not simple to master without destroying your vocal cords, but it's an auditory experience I don't need in my life.
