There is something fishy about Disney spending huge amounts of money on the Chinese parks while neglecting the American parks. I would love to see Iger questioned on Capitol Hill about this.

@@realplonk I don't think this has as much to do with US Party Politics as it does with the CCP trying to hold Disney "Hostage" for their present and future IP rights inside the PRC. If Disney does not pay them The CCP could turn loose a flood of "Knockoff" Products and productions that could dent Disney's market share and profits around the world. Their biggest looming threat thus far is "nationalizing" The Disney parks in Mainland China. So, How much graft is Disney paying so that does not happen? Remember that the only organization nearly as corrupt as Disney these days is the CCP.
Yep,it´s like we already knew month ago as the first time, at that time it was a little "rumor", Bob Iger said he will invest over $60 billion in the next 10 years in Theme parks. BUT, it wasn´t for the Parks in the US. NO, even back than, it was already Bob, the mastplaner, Iger intention to invest the money ONLY in China and the Parks there! Not in the US!
So, what kind of sign is that for the people in the US!? Excatly, people in the US aren´t of any interest for Bob Iger and Disney. Not anymore! The people aren´t any longer have any value for Disney!

Something dose seem fishy. China is not known for making money off of entertainment by non chinese companies. The question is how far dose this go and how much of it is related to the actual disney company. Oh and do the stock holders know.
It is also stupid how they are ignoring the actual cash cows of the company to chase shadows.
They can spend all the money they want on the parks none of it’s gonna help them once their next disaster comes out and then the disasters keep on coming.

I’m on my phone and kinda drunk so, I’ll do my best to explain
IT is actually far far worse than what y’all have said here. The short of it is, many international financial experts are saying China’s economy is going to collapse in the next 10 years. When I say collapse, I mean there could be famine involved. Gonna try to outline it as best I can.
1. China imports 70% plus of its energy and agriculture needs. Energy because they have no real fossil fuel sources in their country. Agriculture because they industrialized to quickly and all the young people moved to cites.
2. China doesn’t really like it when their citizens invest outside of China. As such 70 to 80% of Chinese people invest in real estate . They have an estimated (by their own people) to have Two Billion dwellings and as you can imagine, most are not occupied. For the past 4 years real estate prices have been falling on both the used and new properties. No idea how many property owners are “under water” but, at the rate of decline… it ain’t good.
3.China’s population has been in decline since the 1 child policy was introduced. The policy was too good and as such, there are now and forever future, more people taking out of their government pension plan than putting in.
Let’s add that up
Over reliance on imports + collapsing investments + more people taking out of retirement than putting in = bad
There are more things (banking industry is up sheets creek) but those are the biggies
Imagine building a Theme Park on a sinkhole. That’s Bob Iger and China Disney right now

I am not sure that investing money into that place is smart right now. I know we have crappy economies in many places. But THAT place, it isn't going too well. Money spend in parks there won't do much.
Unless this is a thing to keep a certain Poo Bear happy. Taking losses to stay in the good graces of him, for potential future share of honey.
