I've been riding for 56 years now. I quit counting bikes some years back when I wrote down 60. Probably had another 8- 10 since then. Everything. From a Honda 50 thru numerous Harleys. I wanted a Meteor. I tried to BUY a Meteor. But I simply will NOT pay up to 1500 OVER msrp to get one. Just ain't gonna happen. Especially when there are just so damn many great lo-mileage used bikes out there in the 2000 3000 range. Yep. I'm a stubborn old fart!

I have owned my Meteor for 6 months now and about 1100 miles. The bike has been flawless. My only wish is that it had maybe 10 more mph at the top. Not for cruising at that speed but for a little extra to get out of jams. This past week I went on my longest ride in years. Myself and a couple buddy's on Harley's took a cruise around Northern Kentucky and Southwest Ohio along the Ohio river. We ended up doing over 130 miles. I'm 69 y/o and I expected to feel beat up after that ride. I absolutely did not. Even running up to 65mph a lot of the time never did my hands feel fatigued and never got tired of sitting on the seat. My younger Harley friends needed to stop a couple different times to take a break.🤣 Thanks Ol' Man Ronin for convincing me to buy this awesome machine.

I have had my Meteor 350 for about a month now and have ridden about 265 miles so far. It has exceeded my expectations and I absolutely love riding it. It is comfortable, sounds great and is just a joy to ride. I did not buy it with intentions of riding on any interstates. It is perfect for what I bought it for and I have zero regrets.

Another great vid, thank you. I have had my meteor for 2 months now in the UK and honestly it is superb. I have riden 2 up, motorways and back roads and the only thing I don’t like was the touring screen as it created a lot of buffering on my helmet. Now I have removed it honestly it’s the best bike I have owned (coming from sports bikes).

I nearly bought a Meteor in early 2021. After watching your videos while snow birding in Florida, I decided to buy a Meteor! I called my local dealer back home in Tennessee and bought a Stellar Blue 2022 model by wire transfer. It was a long wait from January until April before I could actually get home and pick it up. I too have had many bikes since I began riding in 1965! The bike is just what I needed to look forward to riding again. So far I have ridden it about 500 miles. It is everything you said it was in your videos. Thanks for being so honest. Also it is great to look back at it after every ride and 😊. Love your videos, ride safe from another old man!

  • @silectric

Had one since March and just passed 2000 miles. No problems. 90+ mpg(UK). Will hit 75, useful on the occasional need to hit dual carriageways usually as a bypass road. Cruises happily at 60 even on long upward slopes. Perfect at 40 -50 around back and country roads. Seating position does wonders for ones back, especially at my age, 75. Windscreen worth getting, and Hitchcock rear carrier fits well and looks good. Tripper gets some time to get used to, but works on my old I5 phone and can be useful. Best to have a map as back up though. Steel tank means a basic magnetic holding map case stays put and a great place for the phone which can be plugged into the USB supply on left. Agree that 350 is a nice size. Perfect for ex MZ aficionados, MZ club meeting now tend to have more Royal Enfield's than MZs, 3 2022 reg Meteors at last local meet!
Heel and toe works for me; still getting used to not having a fuel tap. Side stand safety switch can catch one out but one soon learns.
Recently tried it two up. No problems, copes on normal roads very well.

You don’t buy this sort of bikes for speed and excitement I was surprised at how well that engine performs for a 350 which I think some people forget that’s all it is. Great video. Been riding for 44 years now and had a ton of different bikes of all styles and weights. I had a 2017 Royal Enfield Classic 500 which everyone describes as agricultural and I would agree, but tons of character and always a draw at the gas pumps. Just purchased a 2022 Meteor Stella Nova today in blue. Your videos helped me pull the trigger on it, even though I have been an RE fanboy before it was cool. ;) I picked up a couple of AirMotos, too. You are costing me money, my friend. LOL! Thanks for all your hard work on these videos.

There’s a CZcams channel called EconomicalRides from Spain who has mounted a very inexpensive bag system to his Meteor. He did a couple of videos about them. They’re not Givi quality, but he seems satisfied with them. I think they’re a generic setup that required some fitting to work on the bike. Didn’t seem too involved.

I have owned my meteor for 6 months and agree with your comments about the bike. I love riding it and would recommend the bike especially to someone who hasn’t ridden before as it is so user friendly. The bike is also very good value for money it is well finished and for a cheap bike there is nothing on it that “has to go” even the tyres which often are horrendous on budget bikes. My only minor complaint is the tool kit which I have replaced with better tools.

I like my smaller displacement engines because they are less stressful riding and now with the price of fuel soon going to $10/gal those smaller displacement engines are going to come in really handy... Had my meteor for 2 months now. 1,700 miles, and absolutely love it. Heel shift is my favorite, as i ride with snowmobile boots when it is cold. I want to ride it year round...ish. But Maine puts some very harsh stuff on the roads in the winter, harsh enough that brake/fuel/trans lines generally last 10 years, 6-7 if you aren't lucky. So I am weighing that. But with fuel being up, if I drive it year round, I can buy another one with the savings. Lol

I heard that the brakes on the Meteor are quite spongey, not a lot of bite, have you found that? Would that be a simple case of cabel adjustment? I live in Phuket, Thailand and brakes are pretty important here (of course, they are everywhere!) because a lot of people do a lot of unexpected things....Anyway, hopefully you see my question. @@OlManRonin I got the racks/leather bags from India. Agreed the racks are a bit overkill, but I keep the saddlebags on the bike anyway, so it looks better. Agree it would look a bit silly without the bags. One thing I do like about the steel rack is that you could technically switch out what kind of bags you want - get a small leather pair for day-to-day, then swap out for something bigger if going on a trek.
I too was looking for something that could be tucked away under the pillion seat, but couldn't find anything. There is a company out of Spain that does nice leather saddlebags for the Meteor 350, but they recently changed their shipping cost to 120 Eur to ship to Canada - that was too much for me. Anyway, happy with my bags/rack for now.

Hey Ronin, greetings from London, England! You’re videos (along with a few others like Freddie Dobbs & Stuart Fillingham’s review) helped me make the decision to purchased a M350 as my first ever bike and I absolutely love it. I wanted something that looked cool, relatively inexpensive, easy to ride, comfortable and something that wouldn’t kill me!!! - this ticks those boxes. I’ve had it for less than 3 weeks and already have put 450 miles on the clock!
I have one question though, I would like to take my girlfriend as a pillion for some short rides to start off with and I’m curious about how important it is to adjust the rear suspension preload? I find it really difficult and annoying to adjust the forks with the tool it comes with. The manual also says you should increase the rear tire pressure to 36psi… is this also important?
Thanks in advance and keep up the videos!

    • @OlManRonin
      @OlManRonin  Před 2 lety +2

You should adjust the preload for just you AND and load changes. That's why there are multiple settings on the rear suspension. Heres what i mean. I just put Long Ride Saddlebags (test loaded) on my Supernova Brown and Iron Lady and i went for a 80 mile ride. After a few miles I pulled over and adjusted the rear suspension to give us the perfect load rating and ride. I used the "C" wrench in the tool kit along the road and went on the rest of the day. This is really important to set the bike up for you and adjust it for changing loads. really need to to a proper suspension video.

Seems to me like you would be the perfect candidate to put this question too. I am going back and forth between the Himalayan and the Classic 350. I currently live in Thailand and I have a RE dealership near me, and, if I understand correctly, also a Royal Enfield production plant not too far away. Whatever bike I choose will be my daily driver, runs to the grocery store, errands, etc., and for fun touring. For all these duties I'll need some type of luggage, of course the Himalayan has bags, the Classic has the military type bags which are fine with me. My question is the engine, the Classic engine, same as in the Meteor, seems to be more refined, evolved if you will, than the Himalayan. I keep hearing about issues with the Himalayan, but nothing about 350 problems. What is your take on the two engines? I can afford either bike, I like the looks of the Classic, and don't really need the off road capability of the Himalayan.

OMR, if you check out Economical Rides' YT channel (fellow YTer, Meteor owner, and Brit living in Spain), he has a series on installing hard bags on his Meteor; he tells the viewers how he did it. Best part is that he only paid 120 Euros for them; that's less than $130 USD; that should be more in your budget. Check it out!
Secondly, I don't mind throwover bags, as I don't travel very often. Also, you don't leave your stuff in the bags open to thieves when you go in to your hotel room at night. You can put 'em on, travel, then take 'em off when you're done.
Finally, though the Meteor isn't happy on the Interstate, it can go there; it can only do short runs on it, but it can go there. It's good enough to use the Interstate if your primary route is jammed, or you need to bypass a bad neighborhood.
